I used to but haven't been on top of the finances as much. I know a couple of credit card payments come out at the end of the month but I'll have been paid again by then. I need to log onto the joint account tomorrow and get my list and figures.KajiKita said:For DDs I have a list by each account, by (typical) date so I can see exactly what commitments I still have to come in the month v. my current balance 😊

My ‘month’ starts on the 25th, not the 1st! 😉Naomim said:

Too right it takes up headspace ha, I am in process of changing all my addresses over and having loads of fun with that 😂. I think overall in a good place, just the daft takeaways and eating out went up during the process but hoping it will settle back down againKajiKita said:@FootyFanDan, give yourself some time if you’ve only recently moved. You will still be adapting to the space, how to live there, what works, what doesn’t, what’s different, what’s the same etc etc. It’s significant how much headspace this takes up. YNAB will still be there when you’re ready 😊 Just focus on wise spending and as many NSDs as you can and it will come good.

Thank youNaomim said:@FootyFanDan I suspect that you might be like me. Although you think the budget etc has gone out the window, there will be some things that we just do in the background now without even thinking about it. I was quite surprised when I came back here, how many little things I still do sub consciously. I'm sure you will be back on track in no time. I hope you and your family will be very happy in your new home.
Party was good last night. I was home at 12.30 but I had a terrible night's sleep and think this mornings headache is partly alcohol induced and partly lack of sleep 😴 Spent a fortune getting home so hoping I can expense it! I do have a 6pm call tonight which I think I'm going to cancel! 🤣 - the move was stressful but we were pretty well prepared for it . Yeah I think you are right and whilst there as been a few unusual spends that I wouldn't normally make we haven't been too bad. I am so into the way of been frugal that I am self conciously making choices in the background. 2 - the move was stressful but we were pretty well prepared for it . @KajiKita my month starts on the 25th too which is what cought me out originally when I first started budgeting as I was adding some in twice by mistake. Payments coming out when I got paid and again at the end of the month without accounting there was another payday in there.
@FootyFanDan Glad to hear you're settling in and as KK said, you can allow yourself a little leeway now and then. It's all about perspective. Had this move happened 3-5 years ago, would your finances have withheld it? Probably not. I know you'll soon be back on track.
I've come into the office today as I have so much work to do and it's like a ghost town here on Fridays. Emails are telling my my two expense claims are approved so that's happy Friday news.
I hope everyone has a frugal day... I forgot my lunch 😫

I went to my friends for dinner last night. She's on a dmp and we are aware of each needing to be frugal. She spent £4.50 on food for a lovely stir fry and I spent £4.50 on drinks and deserts. It was lovely to catch up. Debt can be such a taboo subject but sometimes it's good to let people know that you just can't afford to do something and you end up doing something just as lovely as we did last night.
Nothing planned for this weekend except getting 13yo some new school shoes. She didn't get any in the holidays as she said hers were ok but now they're hurting. I have enough in the child benefit pot to pay for these.
She's also come home from school about a school trip in 2025 to Kenya for 4 weeks. At a cost of £4k 😮 I have said we will go to the presentation. I did talk to her and remind her we are still paying off our debts and that we are in a cost of living crisis. Our mortgage payments will be increasing as well as everything else. I also reminded her this was the cost of the family holiday we had this year, our first in six years and I doubt we'd be able to get that money together any time soon. She told me they are meant to fund raise and she could sell things on vinted. I pointed out she won't get much for her Primark & Shein stuff! I also reminded her that find raising won't be easy as no one has any spare money at the moment. Lastly, she won't even go camping with the scouts, I can't see her doing four weeks in Kenya 🤣2
