Am curious, is this just because you're going out less, or do you end up spending a lot of money on a girlfriend?

I am very pleased for you. ;)

Seems odd to post about how happy you are not being in a relationship though; I never feel the need to start threads about how happy I am to be married.

  • Good for you, although I'm sure you're aware that some women can pay for themselves......

LOL not just me then. I have recently split from my girlfriend and I too am seeing figures in my bank account that I never knew existed.

It really is crazy comparing how much things cost, days out, night out, weekends away, just general spending etc. Saying that though I have only just recently split from my gf and to be honest the spending was worth it, just not great ending the month on fumes instead of adding to my savings!!

I know what you mean, but if what was said on this post is anything to go by, whilst some women can pay for themselves, quite a few choose not to and would even reject a second date with a guy if he dared suggest splitting the bill.

I was firmly in the "I'd rather pay my way" camp, but it wasn't anything like the universal view that I would have expected in the 21st century.

For me it is both. I am going out less and secondly I used to pick up the vast bulk of the costs when me and my gf went out. She only worked part time and had a child. I felt uncomfortable with her spending her limited money on me when she could be using it for better purposes such as for her home and child.

Why spend it if you resent it?

I'd rather stay in the house all night rather than go out on a date who resented every penny he spent taking me out.

I agree. I was suprised and disappointed at the attitudes expressed by some women. I suppose if I ever get off my bum and write an online dating profile I might get to encounter it at first hand (hope not though!)
