  • How frustrating with the GP! Your plans for your days off sound good though, enjoy & hope the humidity breaks where you are soon, pregnancy's hard enough work without adding this heat to the mix. Take care x

That sounds like a right faff with the GD stuff, hope you can get to the bottom of it.

Glad you've got some time off soon, try and put your feet up if you can, get some rest.

Thanks Dancing & SA, yes the GD and prescription saga with the GP surgery is something I could do without. Sugars still seem fine but will just do what I'm told and test them, if I can get the strips from the GP of course.

It's a lot cooler here today and raining, so feeling a lot less sweaty!

Went out yesterday with DH & DS to my uncle's house as they were having a wee garden party for one of my other uncles who is back on a visit from New Zealand. He's only been working over there for a few months but is really enjoying it and think he will stay there for the foreseeable.

We picked up my youngest niece (nearly 3) on the way as my mum was watching her and didn't have a car seat for her so we used our spare. She & my DS were so happy to see each other. :D One of my older nieces came with us as well and her brother & sister went in my sister's car with my mum.

It was good to see my aunts and uncles, the majority of them were there so 4 of my mum's brothers plus 2 uncles by marriage and 3 of my mum's sisters and 3 of her sister-in-laws. A few of my cousins were there with their kids who are all around the same age as my DS. DS had great fun and played nicely for a change. :rotfl: He was exhausted when we got home and fell asleep within 5 mins of going to bed. :T

Looking forward to my massage and dinner later but not getting up at 5am tomorrow for work. :( Will be straight to bed when I get home tonight I think.

Have done a few surveys today and cashed out another £5 from SB.

Not long now til the baby comes! How exciting :)
Do you mind if I ask how long you are able to take for maternity leave? Curious as to how things work where you are vs. where I am (Australia).

I think the strips/lancets saga is nationwide from the FB group! I put in a formal complaint with my GP surgery after they refused my prescription. I had to get a pot of strips from my GD midwife, who was furious with them and alos put a complaint in. Funnily enough, I had no more issues after that

Sounds like a lovely day was had by all at the garden party :)

Hi Velvet, yes 9 weeks until the due date now. :) I'm taking 9 months paid maternity leave (13 weeks average income, then 6 months statutory maternity pay) and then have the option of 3 months unpaid mat leave. Last time I used my 10 Keeping In Touch days to work 1 day a week for 10 weeks in the unpaid part as I got paid for those days and then went back to work on my job share, so hoping to do the same again this time.

Kirsty the GP has approved my request for a repeat prescription of 100 strips this time. I put a note on the online request saying I would run out by end of the week otherwise as testing x4 times a day. Will collect after my midwife appointment later in the week. I did notice a lot of problems with getting the strips on the FB group. I can understand it must be pricey for the NHS but at the same time people need them.

Yeah the garden party was good. :)

Got an appointment for my MRI next week, only issue is that it's at 5:20pm so the traffic will be delightful.

Had a lovely massage yesterday and felt a lot better afterwards. :) Got home and did a bit of tidying in the garden - sweet peas all tied up to the trellis and climbing rose cut back a bit. Also tied up some of the runner beans and put some slug pellets down as they have destroyed one of our courgette plants.

Had a nice dinner with my friends, good to catch up without the kids running about.

Work was tiring today so I had a nap when I got home as DH is off work and at home with DS today. They went out to the park earlier and met a dog called Tanya. :rotfl:

DS is staying overnight with my mum tonight and DH and I are dropping into my friend's for a (slightly wet) BBQ. :) I'll collect DS on my way home from work tomorrow. He'll be really excited to stay with his gran, he loves going there and waves everytime we drive past her street. :D

Cashed out £10 from another survey site yesterday as well. :T

Thanks Beanie, I was nearly falling asleep during the massage. :D

Saw the midwife today and she's happy with my blood pressure etc and how my bump is measuring. From what she was saying the appointment I got through for another scan at 35 weeks is a growth scan.

I think I'll be sent round to the consultant's diabetes clinic after it as well. I don't think the consultant was really expecting to see me again as the GTT was just a precaution due to DS's weight at birth. I'm guessing there will be a discussion about induction etc and what I want to do. I don't fancy going overdue by 13 days again.

I just need to make sure my mum is back from her holiday (I think she's back the week before my due date) before I let them do anything as I ideally want DS to stay with her whilst I'm in hospital. I don't like the thought of leaving him and just hope I don't have a long labour/hospital stay. :( At least if he's with my mum I'll know he's happy enough as he's used to staying overnight with her etc.

Collected my prescription for blood test strips today and they had given me 2! One with the date they had refused to give me them and one with this week's request date.

Got my midwife to chase the GP surgery regarding iron tablets as well as they haven't set up a repeat prescription for me for them (or any prescription at all!) although a letter etc was sent to them from the hospital 2 weeks ago. She said she'll send another letter and phone them as well. :T Luckily I had some leftover from DS that were still in date so I have enough to last for now.

I was exhausted at work the other day after going to my friend's BBQ, I should have left earlier but we were having a good time.

Cashed out another £5 am@zon voucher from SB and a £10 one from another site. Made the exciting purchase of a bread bin to try and keep one of my kitchen cupboards tidy by removing the bread/bread products. We'll see. Will have to shuffle some things around to fit the bread bin onto the worktop.

Poor DS hasn't been very well the last 2 days, a bit of a sore tummy from the very grim contents of his nappies. _pale_ He was eating better today though so hopefully he's over the worst of it.

Housework wise the place is a bit of a riot. Have managed to run the hoover round and do a couple of washings as well as loading/unloading the dishwasher but that's about it.

Got a 20% off voucher through for next year's calendar/diary so used that to pre-order my family planner wall calendar (so useful for shifts/appointments etc) and my own diary.

Need to try and get appointments made for us all for our dental check ups, am trying my best to force DH to do this as I'm sick of always being the one that has to organise this kind of thing. :( Also need to agree a day with DH to go into the local nursery to fill in forms to register DS for his free hours next August. We need to go in as need to take his birth certificate etc. Schools go back next week so we can probably just go in one day of our annual leave at the end of August.

Did a bit of cleaning and tidying in the kitchen today and it looks a lot better. Cleaned the gas hob as best I could but couldn't get all the staining off under the burner bits etc. Still better than when I started though. All of the worktops got a proper clean and tidy and quite a few things got put where they should be rather than where DH left them.

DH also finally removed the cardboard tower that was sitting in the corner of the dining end of our kitchen/diner. Not kidding, he had actually just started piling up empty cardboard boxes and it was driving me crazy. He just kept saying he would move them (when? What year?) and to stop nagging!! Apparently asking for them to be moved more than once is nagging.

Hoovered the living room and brushed the kitchen floor. DS cried the whole time I was hoovering, for some reason he's decided he's scared of the hoover when it's switched on. It's probably the noise but it's not bothered him for ages so no idea why he's suddenly scared of it again now.

Hoping to get DH to help me remove the pane of glass from inside the oven door tomorrow so that I can clean it. It's never been cleaned as you need to completely remove the door to get it out to clean it. :o  I don't want to try it myself and break it.

The oven itself is in dire need of a clean too so hoping I can get that done at the same time and DH can keep DS amused. I do have a liner on the bottom of the oven so it's a bit more protected but still needs a good clean.

Need to clean the kitchen & utility room floors as well and could do with giving the dining table a good scrub and polish. It's (mostly) clear of DH's junk but I feel like all I do is move things off of there and he just puts them back. DH's idea of tidying is to put it all in piles rather than actually put it away.

Big cat then comes along and pushes DH's piles of junk (tech stuff/cables/magazines/ whoknowswhat) onto the floor so that he has more room to sleep on the table. :rotfl: *sob* Old cat usually just sleeps on top of the junk piles. :rotfl: I just want to see my table! I don't want piles of DH's cr*p lying there because he can't be bothered putting it away!

Needless to say we still don't have a dental appointment. I think DH is hoping that if he ignores that I asked him to do it it will go away and/or I'll give in and do it myself.

In better DH news he did put a washing on (because I put the stuff in the basket and left it for him) and hung it out today before he went to work. DS had a run about in the very muddy garden whilst DH did that. I took him out again later to bring the washing in and also got loads of cherry tomatoes, a giant courgette and 2 mini cucumbers from the garden. :T Our jalapeños & bird's eye chilli plants have quite a few chillies on them too. :) The sweet peppers have also appeared but not sure they'll be very big.

My new breadbin arrived and my cupboard that had the bread/bread products in it is so much tidier with them removed. :T

I have terrible heartburn/reflux tonight. :( Blood sugar has been quite low today. Not sure if I'm not eating enough (don't always feel like it when DH working lates and also with the humid weather) or if I'm eating the wrong things and crashing. Should really try testing one hour after eating as well as the two hours requested by the diabetes clinic.

DS was watching the film Stuart Little earlier and laughing his wee head off. :D I remember my oldest nephew loved that film when he was 2 or 3 and watched it over and over. That nephew will be 18 next month!

Used a survey voucher to order a new double oven glove (current ones looking scabby) and a big stainless steel sieve. Realised I have been using the same wee cheapo plastic sieve for literally years and it's not big enough and I don't even like it. Time to replace it! Got 20% off too so with my voucher on top only paid £9.60 for both. :T

Wow you've been busy! At least your house will be all clean and tidy ready for the new arrival. Good you're slowly getting DH to help out too, he'll have to step up a gear when the baby comes.
