Thanks Beanie, my HR/payroll department are very uncommunicative at the best of times. Hopefully they have just forgotten to send out the letter or something rather than not set anything up. Will send an email tomorrow to my managers and see what happens.
Having a bit of a nightmare with DH's company health plan - he pays an extra level to me so is able to claim £300 for each pregnancy/child. We filled in the form and got the midwife to sign and stamp it and sent it off.
The health plan company have rejected it because the date is after 26 weeks of pregnancy.  They have some random small print that the date has to be up to 26 weeks of the pregnancy. So silly but obviously just a way of them trying to get out of paying. The letter said the claim can be re-submitted if there is proof of an earlier scan. Well the only thing we can think of is to fill in a new form with the 20 week scan date and ask the midwife to re-sign and re-stamp. It's ridiculous as obviously the midwife has confirmed that I'm pregnant, so why does the date need to be before 26 weeks??
Had a midwife appointment this morning (before we had received the rejection letter from the health plan people or I could have got it re-done ) and all is well. Looks like I'll be going to the labour ward rather than the midwife led unit though due to this bl**dy gestational diabetes. They need to monitor the baby's blood sugars for at least 24 hours after birth as well.
The midwife did say it depends on what the consultant thinks next week after my growth scan & how things are going but they may want to induce at 39 weeks. My blood sugars have been fine so I'm hoping to at least get to my due date before induction.
Apparently the monitoring equipment during labour is now Bluetooth though so you aren't stuck on a bed (unless I'm hooked up to a drip of course and I really hope that doesn't happen as the hormone drip was very painful last time).
Getting my MRI results on Thursday, so fingers crossed all is well with the baby.
Looking after one of my younger nieces later this afternoon for an hour whilst my brother's GF goes to pick up her student ID. DS will be thrilled to have someone to play with.
My mum is taking DS overnight tonight so I can have a rest. :T Didn't sleep well last night due to the heat and poor DS woke up a few times as well.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Thanks Beanie, yes my mum is very good to me and looks after DS a lot.
He loves going to her house and is always disappointed if we drive past without going there.
DH decided to come home a day early so I didn't get the house to myself. However he did get my dinner and run me a bath. Still think he's a selfish git though. :rotfl:
My niece was very well behaved when I looked after her on Monday - only a few arguments between her & DS over toys, nothing major. DS just wanted to cuddle her all the time. The look of disgust on her face was funny. :rotfl: She will usually give him a cuddle just to get rid of him. :rotfl:
Today we took DS to get registered for nursery next year, we're a year in advance but at least that's the form in for our preferred place. We had to go to the school office for the form and DS loved watching the kids out playing but he wanted to go out with them, so there was a bit of a tantrum.
The tantrums continued when we went to get his feet measured as he just screamed the whole time and nearly kicked the poor girl in the face when she was trying to measure his feet. He tried on a pair of red trainers for size and loved them, so there was more screaming when they came off. Ended up buying those ones as he loved them so much. £35 though! More than I pay for my trainers.
I was very tired and fed up by the time we got home. Went out to the chiropractor and got adjusted so my back is feeling a lot better, then dropped into see my mum for an hour or so on the way back whilst DH dealt with the tantrum terror at home.He also did dinner time so that I could have a lie down. Think I'm coming down with a cold as all stuffed up and feeling rotten.
Little to no housework done so far this week. DH put a washing on and hung it out but that's about it.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. My DS used to have a thing about shoe shops and always threw himself on the floor and had a tantrum every single time we went. He used to walk silly when they said walk up and down in them. Now he's 34 I remind of this whenever I can :rotfl: Children's shoes are far too expensive, nothing's changed there.
I still remember how tiring it is towards the end of pregnancy although I had DS at 38 weeks and DD at 37 so never went to the 40 weeks.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
:rotfl: Beanie, to be fair the red trainers are pretty cool, DS has good taste.
:rotfl: at your DS, SA. Kids are strange creatures sometimes.I'm hoping the trainers last a good few months at least before his feet grow again.
Yes, I'm getting into the easily tired stage again, will be 35 weeks in a couple of days. Still need to pack my hospital bag. I have started a small pile of my things next to the baby's hospital bag though, if that counts.
Went for my appointment to get the MRI results and also had another scan whilst there. Baby looking great on the scan, all perfectly in proportion and totally average weight/size which is good. Dr went through the MRI results for the baby's brain and all looks normal, so best outcome possible really. Will probably have a follow up appointment for the baby when they are 3-6 months old just to check the development but the fetal specialist was very happy with everything. :j
Just the growth scan & clinic appointment next week with the diabetes consultant to go now. Should also have another few midwife appointments as well. Fetal Dr said the baby doesn't look like it has a big tummy or any of the classic signs of gestational diabetes so that's good.
Got my baby box delivered the other day and it's full of useful things, would be great for a first baby or someone who has nothing. It has several items of clothing, a towel, a blanket, playmat, sheets for the mattress included in the box, a digital ear thermometer, bath thermometer, maternity pads, books for the baby and a few other things I can't remember. DH & I couldn't believe how big it was and how much stuff was in it. We just missed out on one with DS as the scheme started a few months after he was born.
Have definitely got a cold and have felt rotten the last few days so have been very lazy today. Again all we've done is another washing and kept on top of the dishes. DH hoovered the living room last night and I emptied the kitchen bin and that's the extent of our housework.
Have claimed another £5 voucher from SB. Ordered a booster seat for the dining table for DS as he's getting a bit restless in the high chair, paid half price as had £10 in vouchers. Will see if it's any use to him, if not will return it. He wants to sit with us properly at the table so hopefully it's sturdy/safe enough for him, he's just a bit too small to reach the table on his own yet.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. So far today I've put another washing on and made some blueberry muffins (ground almonds, coconut flour & sweetener substituted for flour & sugar so will see how they turn out) and chia seed jam.
Poor DS has my cold so is quite snotty and tired.Trying the booster seat with DS, he's not keen and it doesn't fit our kitchen benches, is more for dining chairs which we don't have. Think it will have to be returned, a bit of a pain as it's a good height but no point keeping it if it's not right.
A couple of short surveys done too, will make some lunch soon. Feeling tired so will need to have a sit down as well.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Forgot to mention that I finally got my letter through from work HR/Payroll this morning regarding my average income on maternity pay and then my statutory pay dates. The SMP is sooo rubbish, still better than nothing though.
Rather coincidental that the letter appeared at the end of the week that I sent an email to my managers asking where it was. DH got his paternity leave letter before I got my maternity one and I put my paperwork in about a month before him.
The blueberry muffins are ok, DS enjoyed his and DH said his was "acceptable". :rotfl: Obviously nothing tastes as good as sugar.
Washing chucked into the TD as it keeps raining outside, not chancing hanging it out.
Have tried the booster seat for DS on one of our folding seats (kept for extra visitors) and it kind of fits. He's still not keen, I'm not sure about it. I never got round to packing a bag for hospital when I was having DS - I was at my mum's and had a strange trickling sensation. My mum panicked thinking my waters had broke and rang for an ambulance. All I had with me was a bag of satsumas :rotfl: I wasn't in labour but as it was so close to Christmas they started me off which I wasn't expecting at all. I think they were just concerned I'd go into labour over Christmas so thought they might as well get it over with.
The muffins sound super healthyI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
