Well my over time shift on Saturday was fine although I did feel pretty tired afterwards and the next day.
Both DH & DS were grumpy so-and-so's yesterday so we just had a mostly relaxing day.
DH went through his clothes and got rid of nearly 2 black bags worth of stuff and I managed another black bag of my clothes too. Just waiting for another charity bag to come through the door now so we can get rid of it all. :T
Ordered DH a new pair of shorts, 2 casual short sleeved shirts, boxer shorts, trainer socks and a new pair of swimming trunks. Felt a bit like I have another bigger toddler to buy clothes for, if I don't do it he probably wouldn't bother as hates going shopping and refuses to try things on unless bullied into it. *sigh* He hasn't bought any new clothes apart from t-shirts in ages. He then said he needs some new casual shoes or trainers (I'm not sure which or maybe he meant both).
Hope the swimming shorts fit, I've been asking him for ages to get a new pair (old ones are too small) so that we can take DS swimming. Want to get DH & DS confident in the pool together and then that can be something they do together, especially once the new baby arrives.
Also ordered some arm bands for DS but they are foam circle things that clip together (3 per arm) rather than blow up water wings & the theory is you remove the circles one at a time when the child gets more confident/can swim. Sounds interesting so will see what they're like.
Today we went took DS to the park for a run around and he had a great time on the swing and slide and watching the bigger kids. He also had fun chasing the birds on the grass and saying hiya to all the dogs being walked.
DH was very resistant at first, saying he didn't want to go out because he was starting work at 4pm (bearing in mind this was at 11am). He was very grouchy and told me to just take DS myself. I would have but I find it hard to lift him now when he starts refusing to walk or can't always keep up if he runs away from me.
I was quite angry with DH for being selfish so went & cleaned the kitchen worktops and brushed the floor and by that point he said ok let's go and sorry for being grumpy.
Dropped the clothes I wanted to return off on the way there too so hopefully will get the refund through for that later in the week.
Made some banana & oat cookies for DS (literally mashed banana & oats with some sultanas thrown in) and some flapjacks with mixed dried fruit and dried apricots. Finished off a mixed bean goulash I had made earlier in the week for my dinner since DH working lates.
DS is very interested in one of the books I bought him about a new baby and keeps looking at it. He brings it to me at least 3 times a day and earlier I caught him sitting in my rocking chair "reading" it himself.
Need to do some hoovering tomorrow if possible but got my next scan, so need to drop DS off with my sister & hope we don't have to wait too long at the hospital. Only did a washing today apart from dishes etc so not much done.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Yes Beanie
DS is very interested in all things baby at the moment, let's hope he's still interested when the real one arrives.
Scan yesterday once again looked pretty much fine to the doctor but she wants me to go for an MRI so that they can have a more detailed look at the brain and make sure the tissues and nerves have all developed ok.
Still saying it's a very low chance that there's a problem but the MRI will give us that reassurance or at least will let us know what we're dealing with if something isn't as it should be. Apparently they can see the tissues much better than on the scans and can see nerves etc which can't be seen on ultrasound.
So now need to wait for a phone call to get scheduled in for the MRI, that will be fun to fit in around my work, DH's work and childcare. Have another follow up with the same Fetal specialist Dr in a month's time as well up at the big hospital.
Went for a quick lunch with DH after the hospital and then we collected DS from my sister. She had taken him round to the park with her twins and the dog so he had a great day.
The heat was awful yesterday and really struggled to sleep last night. Poor DS woke up around midnight crying because we had switched a fan on outside his room and it gave him a fright. Had to switch it off for him and give him a cuddle.
Working late shift today and tomorrow and feeling really drained already.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -

Thanks Beanie, we're hoping that it will show everything is ok and then we can stop thinking/worrying about it. Got the diabetes clinic tomorrow at the maternity hospital, so up early for that.
Have my pregnancy massage tomorrow afternoon, looking forward to that but then have to deal with DS's bedtime on my own as DH will be working late shift.
One more late shift tonight for me, yesterday was fine at work, was kept busy without it being stressful. Was also glad to be in the air conditioned office due to the heat. We all slept better last night though and DH got DS a new quieter and smaller fan for his room which we think helped.
Hoping it's not as humid today but it is meant to be a higher temperature which isn't pleasant.I don't cope well with heat and tend to burn in the sun quite easily. It's always much better abroad though as they are used to it and have good air conditioning etc whereas here we're not really set up for it.
Looking forward to Saturday as it will be the first day I can just stay at home and relax a bit. Have asked DH to do the big cat litter clean today and maybe some hoovering since I'm at work. We'll see if it gets done. :rotfl:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Also wishing you well with the MRI and hope the diabetes clinic doesn't drag too much for you tomorrow. Lovely that you have the pregnancy massage booked though, will be a nice treat for you.
Get stocked up on your favourite ice lollies/ice creams, you deserve a lovely treat or 2 to keep you cool in this heat! xx0 -
Beanie, DH did do the trays! :T Yes, really not my favourite part of having house cats.
Thanks Dancing, I actually moved the massage until a week on Monday so that I can get the full benefit. I realised I was going to be too stressed running about today after working two late shifts & with the hospital and dropping DS off with my sister to watch during the massage, then picking him up and having to do dinner and bed on my own as DH working lates.
I have rescheduled to a day when DH is off work & I don't have any appointments (as yet) so that I can go and enjoy the massage then go home and relax. Hoping to get out for dinner with my friends that night too. :T So hard to get together with them as we have to find a time when we aren't working (2 of us are shift workers with partners who are also shift workers) and can get childcare as well.
The diabetic clinic took an hour and was a group thing with a talk from the diabetes nurse and a dietician. We also had to be talked through using the blood sugar monitoring devices etc and practice using the finger jabber thingy.I don't like it.
I have to check my bloods 4 times a day now because I was on the cut off of 5.1 for the fasting blood test, my test after the glucose drink was under the guideline number.
Had to take a letter to my GP surgery to hand in for a prescription for the lancets and blood testing strips afterwards. Not looking forward to having to think about everything I eat now.
Have been practising using the machine etc and my bloods have been fine so far today, highest was 6.1. They want you to be under 5.5 before breakfast in the mornings and under 7 after main meals (test 2 hours afterwards). Just seems a faff, will see what my fasting blood is like tomorrow morning.
DS had a screaming fit tonight before bed because his milk wasn't the right temperature. He'll drink it any old temperature his daddy gives him it at but I have to warm it up to the right temperature or he has a fit. Was so ready for him to go to bed after that. :rotfl:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Thanks Beanie.
To be honest I'm still doubtful that I actually have gestational diabetes as my readings have all been well below the limits given at the clinic yesterday. This morning's fasting blood sugar was 3.8, well under the 5.5 they want. I've to phone on Thursday to give them my readings for the week so will see what happens after that, hopefully if my readings are consistently low they'll agree that I don't have GD but won't hold my breath.
In annoying news I wasted a lot of blood testing strips yesterday trying to get used to using the machine and finger stabber (I have no idea what it's actually called :rotfl:). So I'm going to run out of test strips before the prescription is ready for more from the Dr.
Annoyed because I didn't realise I only had 19 strips and managed to waste 9 yesterday with machine errors and not stabbing myself properly so not putting enough blood on strips etc.
Raining here today so first washing of the day done and hung on the clothes horse upstairs. Hoping to strip the bed sheets as they are a bit minging after the sweaty nights (need DH to get up first, he was working until 1am) and need to do some hoovering.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
