On Saturday I managed to get the bed stripped and sheets washed, dried and put away. Also put a clean set on and stripped DS's cot at the same time then put a washing of his stuff on too.
Also hoovered both upstairs and down and the amount of dust and cat hair was a bit shocking.
Finally got another charity bag through the door, so can put the 3 bags of stuff we have out for pick up on Tuesday morning. :T
Was working late shift today so got our shopping delivered this morning. DS was very good and tried watermelon for the first time and really enjoyed it.
My blood sugars are still pretty low, highest today was 5.6.
Came home from work and DH had forgotten to put the milk bottles out and take a washing out of the machine to hang up. *rolling eyes here* He had at least washed some dishes and put the dishwasher on though. I washed the rest & emptied the dw as well as putting the milk bottle out and hanging the washing up. Have also put a washing on a delayed start so it's ready to be thrown into the TD in the morning.
Need to remind DH to send me info so I can make a complaint to our energy company. We have been trying to get our so called "smart meter" sorted out since April/May.
We were originally told we couldn't get one due to the type of gas meter we had. We were then contacted a good few months later to be told that they could install the smart meter after all due to a new type of meter blah blah.
When the engineer came out he did the electricity meter but couldn't get it to "talk" to the network and also didn't have the part/tool he needed to do the gas meter. He told DH to phone up and tell them this and another engineer would be sent out. This was in April and we still haven't seen another engineer! Our electricity meter is still not "talking" to the network and we can't even take manual readings.:mad:
DH has phoned several times and has been told he needs to speak to a certain team. Funnily enough this team never answer their phones. The only people he can get through to can't seem to help or even understand what he's telling them. We really need to complain and chase it again but DH has now said he's sick of it and doesn't have time. I said if he gives me the details then I will write and complain about it, the whole thing is ridiculous and in the meantime we are getting estimated bills so probably aren't paying enough. :mad:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Managed to give the bathrooms a quick clean today, will try and do the floors tomorrow. Stuck the towels in the TD this morning and also managed to finish the paperwork shredding that DH started yesterday but didn't finish as the shredder overheated.
Made beef quesadillas for dinner which was pretty quick and easy, will make them again. DS ate a good amount and enjoyed it too. :T
Going to get rid of 3 bin bags of old clothes tomorrow by putting them out for charity collection, so that's at least a bit of clutter leaving the house.
I need to start going through the wardrobe in DS's room to get the newborn baby clothes out and the small car seat etc. Also need to get the Moses basket out, will probably buy a new mattress for it. I think the thought of digging through there is worse than the reality (I hope).
Have only been able to test my blood sugars twice today as running out of strips, only have one left for the morning. Hopefully my prescription will be ready and DH can get it for me on his way home from work. If it's not ready I'll have to phone up and ask them to do it asap. Will just have to explain to the diabetes clinic that I ran out so can only give a few days readings.

I've been a bit AWOL but sorry to hear things have been stressy for you Sashy.
I had GD with donut, was the same as you in that all my readings were within target and I was convinced I didn't have it (even the midwife who was with me during labour said she had never seen such stable blood sugars in someone with GD) but I still followed the Gestational Diabetes UK way of eating (rather than the NHS one, which my diabetic midwife admitted was useless) and manage to give birth weighing over a stone less than when I got pregnant. Not that I've kept it off but it was nice while it lasted!
Hopefully all will go well at your next diabetic clinic
DS sounds like such a love, I'm sure he will be brilliant with the new baby. If you don't already have it, there is a brilliant book called 'there is a house inside my mummy' which really helped my niece too:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Hi Kirsty, thanks for popping in.
I have been looking at the Gestational Diabetes UK website and FB group, it's pretty helpful and a good resource. I've still been eating a pretty normal diet so far though and my blood sugar hasn't been high at all. Will see what the nurse says when I call through with the week's readings.
Yes DS is very good natured and really tries to help me all the time now.I think I'm going to need to buy him a toy hoover as he tries to wrestle the real one off me now. :rotfl: He also likes brushing the floor.
I think he'll love having a baby brother or sister to help look after, although I'm sure he won't love sharing the attention. Kirsty that's the book he really likes & wants me to read to him several times a day.
DH picked up my prescription for me today - for some reason they gave me 200 lancets but only 50 blood testing strips! That amount of strips won't even last 2 weeks when testing 4 times a day, not counting errors etc. The GP surgery also didn't make the prescription a repeat one, very helpful.
I called the prescription line at the surgery which is basically an answering machine and asked them to make my prescription a repeat one and also to increase the number of strips as I'm testing 4 times a day.
Will see if I get a phone call tomorrow about it, with only 50 strips I'll need to put another request in next week as have to wait 2 working days for prescriptions to be ready. I'll speak to the nurse at the diabetic clinic if the surgery get arsey about it and see what they suggest.
Also need to chase my midwife as she was meant to get a prescription arranged for me with my GP for iron tablets and there was nothing there for iron tablets. I'm seeing her in just over a week anyway.
My sister came up and cut my hair for me today so it feels much better & lighter, she thinned a LOT of hair out! She also managed to trim my DS's wild hair so he looks a bit tidier. :T
Got the chiropractor tomorrow which is good as she can re-set me a bit. Obviously she's a bit more limited in what she can do now though due to my giant bump. Definitely bigger at this stage than last time, scared what size I'll be at the end. :eek:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. just a thought on diabetes, i have no idea about the added complications of gest one. BUT lots of diabetes has been reversed by the keto diet. plenty of info around about it / groups etc.
the science being that carbs spike the insulin, and insulin then signals body to store excess calories - as fat.
low carbs, mean no insulin spike, and thus good gluscose readings.
i did it last year for the pure happy side effect of weight loss, ive put a lil back on now, but a net of 4.5st will do!0 -
Hi db2016, thanks for popping in. To be honest I'm still trying to get my head around the GD diagnosis as I really don't think I have it! Haven't had one high blood sugar reading since I started testing properly on Saturday.
I think the GD diet on the website Kirsty recommended is somewhat similar to the keto diet by what you're saying. They recommend high protein, good fats and low amounts of carbs.
Well done on losing such a good amount of weight.
I had the chiropractor today so had my neck and spine readjusted. My back was much better going 6 weeks rather than the 8 I had done previously between appointments. I'm going back in 4 weeks this time though, hopefully I can fit in 2 more adjustments before the baby is born.
I'm hoping my pelvis won't be as badly knocked out of position after the birth this time as I was in a lot of pain after DS was born and it took months of adjustments to get me back to somewhat normal.
Chiropractor did say that it looks like my abs are starting to separate already and advised me to do some exercises on a Swiss ball to strengthen my core (gently). My new Swiss ball is arriving tomorrow - had borrowed one from my friend last time but thought I'd buy my own this time as it will be useful for exercise before and after birth, as well as in early labour.
I should really be doing more exercise altogether tbh but just feeling too tired.
DS was at my mum's whilst I was at my appointment so he had great fun running around in her garden. We had a lovely sunny day until around 3pm when we got very heavy rain and a thunderstorm.
Unsurprisingly I haven't heard anything from my GP surgery about my prescription for lancets/testing strips. Will call in a couple of days to see if there is a repeat prescription ready (giving them the benefit of the doubt).
Got to phone the diabetes clinic tomorrow to give them my readings - would be much easier if I could email or they had an app that sends the readings which a lot of areas have. I don't know if or when they'll want me to attend the clinic again either.
Hoping to get a bit of housework done tomorrow but will see how things go.

So the GP surgery set my prescription up as a repeat one and upped the number of strips to 100 at a time rather than 50. :T But they then refused to give me another prescription as I'd had 50 strips a couple of days before.
They don't seem to understand that I'm using at least 4 strips a day and that's if I don't have any errors, so 50 strips doesn't even last 2 weeks. I just wanted to get some more in so I wasn't down to bare minimum & panicking about getting the repeat prescription on time. I'll try asking again next week - by the time they okay a prescription I'll be down to 12 or so strips. They're making me feel like a criminal for asking for supplies that I need!
Got quite a lot of housework done on Thursday, including using up some mince for slow cooker chilli. Did 3 washings and got them hung out and dried, cleaned the kitchen and tidied a bit.
Phone call to the diabetes clinic was less than 5 mins, just read off my numbers, the nurse said that's fine, call us next week. *shrugs*
Got an appointment through the post for another scan at 35 weeks, assuming it's a growth scan due to the GD diagnosis but nothing had been mentioned about extra scans by the diabetes clinic.
Have been early shift the last 2 days so feeling knackered now, the weather is still so humid and uncomfortable too.Oh well have 2 days off now and going for my rescheduled massage on Monday afternoon, then out for dinner with 2 of my friends that night. :T

Hi Beanie, officially 30th September but hoping to use a couple of annual leave days to finish up on 19th Sept instead. All depends on how things go & how I'm feeling though.
I have 2 weeks of annual leave at the end of August too which gives me a bit of a rest as well.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
