Thanks both, fingers crossed the NHS pelvic floor physio will be helpful. My stress incontinence has definitely improved since last year but it's still happening and it shouldn't be. It's not a nice feeling worrying about it and is a big reason why I'm resistant to the idea of running with others as it's embarrassing!

Physio for my sore hip/side of my thigh has been extended through work, they are going to pay for another 5 sessions as I asked to be re-referred. The pain is slightly less but is definitely still there and the physio said it just takes a long time to sort these things out sometimes.

Yesterday we let DS out to play on the estate for the first time with a couple of other kids his age. 😦 It was going ok until he was playing in the back garden with one of the girls and DD wanted to go out with them. I said ok but she wasn't to leave the garden - next time I looked out they were all gone! I found them in a play park 2 mins down the hill but they had to cross a busy road to get there. 😱 I wasn't happy and made them come home, trying to explain to DS why he shouldn't have taken his sister but not sure he's getting it. He was very upset that we were angry and DD joined in the crying. 🤦‍♀️  The kids around here seem to roam everywhere from about the age of 3 and I don't like it as I want to know where mine are so ours don't leave the garden! They also have quite a strict bedtime even during summer holidays. People seem to think we're too overprotective and strict! DS was also asking to go down to the woods! They are away at the start of the estate so quite some distance from our house and I said absolutely not because who knows who is hanging about there. 😱 He was fine about it but now I'm a bit wary that if he goes out with the other kids and they suggest it that he might just go without telling me. 🫤

Yesterday I managed my run, 2 washings and putting a dry washing away then went down to school for DD's last Bookbug session. She was good for 10 mins then got grumpy because I was there. 🙄 I made chicken tikka masala, rice and naan breads for dinner (in between chasing my children when they disappeared). Dinner took ages as I made it all from scratch and DH is grumpy because he's been on early shifts this week, working 7 days in a row and has high anxiety again for some reason. 🤷‍♀️

Today I have hoovered the couches, stairs & bedrooms, put the dw on and stripped our bed, sheets are in the TD as the rain is coming and going. Kids washing is in the machine now, I've already done a white wash and washed my rain jacket and also need to wash the kids heavier jackets as they're mucky (again). Have also cleaned the bathrooms, put away a dry washing & need to get clean sheets back on the bed.

Planning on a bit of yoga shortly which will hopefully help me relax a bit. DH will no doubt be grumpy when he gets home and then there will be more grumpiness about dinner and not knowing what to make. 🙄 DS has made some lego flowers for his class teacher as part of her present, he did a really good job and didn't need any help.

My MIL was up visiting last weekend and it went ok, she was mildly irritating and fixating on pointless things again but nowhere near as bad as when FIL is here too. She is really getting deaf though but won't admit it, she's always been deaf in one ear but now can't hear much from her "good" ear either! She was really struggling to keep up with the kids in general and was getting really annoyed when there was a lot of noise. She really isn't used to being around children at all. DS was being more obviously favoured again, he does get annoyed by the constant attention and actually told her to leave him alone at one point and that she should go and see his sister. 🤭

You’re definitely not being too strict and overprotective. They’re too young to be going off out of sight especially in woods 😱 You just don’t know who’s about you’re justified in being worried.

I've only really started letting mine go out and about alone from year 5 which is the point at which school will allow them to walk home without an adult.  I think there's a big difference between letting them play outside alone but within sight/easy reach, and allowing them to go off wandering alone.

I'm also strict on bedtime.  Sleep is so important to their development and general health.  I find they are more susceptible to bugs when they are over tired.  Plus, particularly when they were young, I needed that time to relax!

Thanks both, DH & I are quite shocked at the number of kids that seem to be allowed to roam around here from a young age. I think I need to have a talk with DS about safety and tricky people etc.

DH is thinking of getting a GPS watch for DS if he’s going out but for now we’re going to limit him to a few times a week when both of us are at home and he’s not to go any further than the play park (as long as he can show us he can cross the road safely!).

And we’ll be sticking to normal bedtimes, although DS can stay up a bit later in the holidays as he’s 7 now but only by half an hour!

Today I managed to tidy the greenhouse up and realised that I have 16 tomato plants. 😱 So I need to give some away, my mum will take a couple and maybe some to friends & nursery.

I also repotted some of the tomatoes & one of my cucumbers then fed all the plants in the garden & greenhouse.

Also managed to weed one bed in the back and planning on doing the front garden tomorrow when I have some peace. I’ll need to deadhead some of my climbing roses and tidy it up a bit as well as doing the weeding. The hedge we planted out there a couple of years ago as bare roots has really grown well, it’s a mix of cotoneaster & dogwood.

I’ve ordered some azaleas for the front to try and fill the gap there. My hydrangea wasn’t dead after all but hasn’t flowered and there is still a gap where a hebe died off.

I managed to get out into the front garden and weeded then tidied up the climbing rose a bit. The azaleas I ordered arrived at the start of the week so I have planted 2 out in the front but didn't have room for the 3rd. 🤔 I wanted to leave enough room for them to grow so it still looks a bit like a bare patch! So I still have 1 azalea, 1 rhododendron and some dianthus to plant but I have run out of compost and also need DH to re-dig a bed for the rhododendron.

Digging 2 holes in the front for the azaleas was hard work because of the amount of building junk I find every time I dig there! I found several part roof tiles and half a flipping brick this time. Add that to clay soil and it's hard, heavy work. Have been in this house for 10 years and dug that front bed up numerous times, plus digging out for the hedge & still finding stuff - could probably have built a full house by now with all the roof tiles and bricks I've found. 😂

DD did well in her second primary 1 induction and seems happy enough, DH & I on the other hand are really upset at nursery ending! 😢 And we have her nursery graduation next week too. 😔

I had my appointment with the NHS pelvic floor physio yesterday, was there for about an hour. She confirmed it's a prolapse of the front wall which is my bladder bulging into the vaginal wall and why I'm having problems with stress incontinence. The stress incontinence has then led to urge incontinence because I always worry about wetting myself so do a lot of "just in case" pees but this has confused my bladder so now it thinks I need to pee every time there's the tiniest bit of liquid in there.

So the prolapse is stage 1 which is the mildest kind but there's no real fix other than pelvic floor exercises to strengthen it and the main aim is to stop the incontinence. So I need to do PF exercises 4 times a day 😩, cut down on caffeine (as I know it irritates my bladder), drink more liquids and try to stop going for a pee "just in case" to try and re-train my bladder. So many times I go and there's no pee to come out!

This all ties up with what the private PF physio told me so it's good to know I've been on the right track, I just need to be more consistent with the PF exercises, drinking more water & not going to the toilet 20 times a day. The stress incontinence has slowly improved since last year so if I do the PF exercises properly then hopefully it will eventually stop. 🤞

DH & I helped my mum to clear a room in her house and build the bunkbeds we got ages ago for the kids. She's keeping them overnight tonight as we are both working late shift and she's picking them up from school. Hoping that DD copes and goes to sleep nicely in her new bottom bunk at gran's. need to drop their stuff off on my way to work, they're both excited about staying over in the new bunk beds.

We managed to convince DS to go to the school summer disco last night and he enjoyed himself, it was only on for an hour anyway. This is a big step for him as he refused to go to it last year and also refused to go to the Halloween disco. He said he was worried about it but he enjoyed it.

Went for another 5k run this morning so will be ready for a sleep by the time I start work. 😂

Hi all, still aten't dead, just busy!

Thanks beanie & crazycatlady2, it's horrible having bladder/incontinence issues. 😔 I've been trying hard to keep up the PF exercises, not always managing 4 times a day but at least twice most days. I have also cut right down on caffeine and try to only have one cup of normal tea a day then drink rooibos/redbush tea the rest of the time as it's caffeine free. I have also been trying not to go for a pee every time I feel like I need to go and have reduced my toilet visits quite a bit but still probably go more than is usual.

I'm still working on core & glute strength as well to try and help manage the prolapse but haven't done as much exercise as usual recently so need to concentrate on that again. I have been trying to go for a run at least twice a week and have managed to run/walk/run 7k a few times now. I've finally got under 11st in weight for the first time in years. 🙌 Only about 2lbs away from my goal weight which is amazing but it has taken over a year to get to this point and I know I'll have to work hard not to let the weight creep on again. Also acutely aware that perimenopause is very likely in the next few years (if not already in progress!)  which can also lead to weight gain. I'm trying to work on my diet and eating better as I know I'm not getting enough fruit and veg.

I've been thinking a lot about getting a second tattoo and have pretty much decided on what I want to get and where. I'm going to wait a bit to make sure I really want to do it though since I only got my first one a month ago. 😂 I'd like the second one on my side/ribs and that's meant to be a painful area so want to be absolutely sure on it. Good tattoos also cost a lot of money so would need to save a bit more for it as well. DH is just rolling his eyes at me and saying no more after this. 😂

I've been having a lot of trouble with varicose veins in one leg, they are so achey and sore after running or standing for a long time. I have to wear compression socks or sleeves when I run or they are really bad. I originally got them from shop work, so standing for long periods of time over years then when I was pregnant they got much worse. 😢 They look awful and I have really bad spider veins on my other leg as well. I've decided I want to save up to get treatment for them as they aren't covered on the NHS as they're classed as cosmetic. The treatments are laser and foam based now so not as invasive and only takes a few hours. Just need to save a few thousand pounds for that then, might take a while. 🤔

Managed to dig out a small new bed for my rhododendron and remaining azalea, it was really hard work and I found a giant stone that took a huge amount of effort to get out. I had to get DH to lift it out after I finally loosened it. Also found a random metal bar and yet more roof tiles!! I absolutely hate digging in this garden. Have only had one lonely mini cucumber and one in progress from my plants in the greenhouse so far. Have spotted a tiny amount of green tomatoes but everything seems so slow this year.
