Thanks both, the party went well and I enjoyed it - quite a few of my friends made it as well as a friend of DH's & his wife that we haven't seen in a long time, he has been ill recently so it was good to see him and he's doing much better too. I was absolutely spoiled with presents, have several bottles of gin, prosecco and champagne to work my way through. A few of my aunts, uncles and cousins came too, as well as my mum, brother and sister and nieces and nephews so it was a good turn out. 🥳 The weather stayed dry but there was no sun 👎 it was sunny the day before and the day after!

Everyone had left by about 9pm ish as it was a garden party so we got everything cleared up and kids into bed then got to bed about midnight ourselves. Needless to say I was a bit tipsy although I only had 6 drinks - still woke up at 2am with some sort of hot flush, terrible headache and convinced I was dying. 😧 😂 I really can't handle mixing alcohol and should stick to beer or gin instead of having a bit of everything.

The party did cost us quite a lot and for some reason we hadn't saved anything towards it and had to dip into the emergency fund. 😳 I also made the mistake of letting DH loose without a budget so it was my fault as much as his. Was very upset at having to take money out of the EF and don't want to do it again. DH has now sold a couple of things and offered me some of the money to go back into the EF, I've said we can keep that for our short holiday spending money as we have paid for the break but still need that. So at least we won't need to worry about finding spending money.

We both got a big shock/fright when we saw the much bigger than usual CC bill after the party - a lot of the money was also for things DH spent on his new garden bar 😠 and he used the party as an excuse. It took us back to the bad old days of totally careless spending and always being in the overdraft. It was a horrible feeling and I must admit to shouting at DH as I was so stressed and upset by it. It really hurt to take that money from the EF so I think it's safe to say lesson learned and we don't want to go back to that.

That was when he went and found some things to sell that he had bought but didn't really need. I think he's depressed again and that's why his spending was out of control and he had the party as the perfect excuse. So will be keeping a close eye on him again, he is hopefully going back to work this week for a couple of shifts. I think his stomach problems are due to the shift work, stress and depression but who knows.

I need to get the house cleaned and tidied today - so far I have got 2 washings done and hanging out on the line, stripped and remade the kids' beds and tidied their rooms. Took ages to sort out the lego with DS but it looks a lot better now. Just going to clean the bathrooms and hoover upstairs then will start on the downstairs. Will be interrupted a million times with the kids wanting fed no doubt!

Glad that the party went well. Boo to the extra spending but the good thing is that you recognised it & it has been dealt with.

We just got back from our short holiday to Yorkshire yesterday, the cabin we went to was lovely and it was a really nice area but the kids were hard work. DS was ill for 2 days with a high temp and some sickness 😩 and DD was just hard work as usual with her meltdowns and fun hoover tendencies. 😔  Thankfully she enjoyed the hot tub and it calmed her down a lot. DH & I spent a lot of time in it trying to relax.

We went for a day trip to Whitby which we really enjoyed, everyone was really friendly, even when DD was having her awful meltdowns. DH also had a mild panic attack as it was so busy and DD was being such hard work. We went for a walk along the harbour and had a short boat ride - DD cried to go on it, we got on and she started crying wanting to get off again. 🤦‍♀️ She enjoyed it once we started moving though, she loves the water. We had fish and chips, ice cream and paddled in the sea. DS was crying and refusing to paddle, I pretty much had to forcibly remove his socks and trainers then DH persuaded him to go into the sea a bit and he loved it.

We had a drive over the moors - some of the roads were so steep and winding, we came across sheep on the road several times. The kids found it hilarious when they ran away from the car in front of us. I used a combination of travel sickness tablets and patches for DD this time and she didn't complain once about feeling sick. She usually still says she feels sick even with travel sickness tablets so this was a good result.

The kids had several fights in the back of the car but were really bad on the way home yesterday. It took us 5 hours instead of the 4 it took going down just due to the volume of traffic. DD was getting hangry and lashing out at DS although he wasn't helping as he was still tired and grumpy from being ill. 🤦‍♀️ Money wise we spent a bit more than the spending money we had put aside but that was including fuel for the car so not bad overall.

Took the kids to the local care home summer fete this afternoon as nursery were going, we only stayed an hour as DD was just kicking off and then DS started crying because he didn't want to leave. DD is such hard work 😪 We went to the local pub for a drink and some snacks, DD kicked off again after half an hour so I just took her home and let DH & DS enjoy themselves. They were only about 10 minutes behind us getting home tbh. 😂

A photo of Whitby and then the moors, the moors were beautiful and so peaceful (apart from my feral children 😂)

Lovely photos, glad you enjoyed it despite the meltdowns. Kids aren’t the best holiday companions 😆
