Thanks enthusiasticsaver, I think you're right that waiting until the kids are a bit older will be easier. I think I'm just having a wobble as I'll be 40 in the summer and still have no idea what I want to do when I grow up. 😂 I also think my hormones are all over the place and I'm perimenopausal or very close to it, I've noticed that I get very down at certain points in my cycle.

I'm trying to do some exercise every day and notice I feel so much calmer after having a run. I've been running for 6 months now and am actually surprised that I've stuck to it and that I enjoy it as much as I do. People who have known me for years just look very confused and say "but you're not a runner" or "you, running?" and find it very amusing. 🤷‍♀️ Most people have been very supportive though which is nice.

I had my second physio appointment for my hip and was hooked up to the tens machine again, it did feel a lot better after that but I ruined it by going for a run the next day. 😬 Have 4 appointments left now that my work are paying for, hopefully that will be enough.

We're going for our short holiday in the Lakes on Monday so all looking forward to that, I have one more late shift to work tomorrow then will be off for 10 days. 😀

Went for a run this morning and found it hard work, probably won't be able to go for another run for a week now due to our holiday. I'll try and keep up with some strengthening work and yoga while away though.

    Happy holidays  :)

Best advice I can give you is to take it easy for a couple of days after physio  :)

Sashy, I think waiting til your kids are older to make career decisions is sensible too. Mine are a touch older than yours (5 and 8) and sleep well etc and I still don’t feel ready to tackle making career changes yet. My job has family friendly hours and pays enough and that’s good enough for me for now 🤷‍♀️

    Enjoy your holiday, sounds fab!

I had a career change at 40. It is possible to do but my kids were older. Have a lovely holiday.

Thanks all, we had a lovely time away, the lodge was very nice & clean with a big hot tub and was well kitted out. The beds were comfy and we had a lovely view. They also left us a small loaf of bread from the local bakery, butter, jam & milk which was a nice touch.

The downside was a strong smell of damp coming from the main bathroom 🫤 we think there might have been a leak somewhere or a loose connection. Shame as otherwise it was lovely.

I also managed to slip on the tiles in the bathroom as the floor was so wet after being in the hot tub and then both DH & I having a shower. When I fell I managed to hook my arm around the bath so didn’t hurt my back or hit my head but got a massive bruise on the inside of my arm & a smaller one on my ribs under my armpit. 😫

The kids had a few meltdowns but were generally pretty good. DD was hard work in the car as she gets travel sick, I gave her a travel sickness tablet & she wears pressure bands on her wrists but she still gets a sore stomach. It was only a 2 hour drive as we know what she’s like. She was ok for the first hour but then started tantruming & wanting her bands off. She also had a major tantrum around the supermarket when we had to go there for food the first night. 🤦🏻‍♀️

We let DS play his switch too long one day and noticed how moody and upset it made him when told to come off. So back to one hour a day max on any of his tech (switch/xbox etc). We usually set a timer at home & he comes off with no problem.

We went out to a wildlife park one day and had great fun feeding the goats, sheep & donkeys. I think DH & I enjoyed it more than the kids. We saw some lovely Scottish wildcats, they reminded us of our house cats. 😂 We were getting the disgusted/indignant stare that cats do. 🤣

Another day we went to the seaside and could literally see the coast of Scotland from where we were standing. We were only 30 mins over the border as in the North Lakes, didn’t even see a lake actually! We played in the amusements after having a walk and going to a playground.

Our other day out was to an aquarium and some crazy golf. DS was very stressed  in the aquarium as there was a list of animals to spot, he said it was a task and was very focused on it in a bad way. 😕 So I don’t think he enjoyed it as much. He liked the golf though but then DD started playing up. 🙄

Obviously we were fleeced in the gift shops as DD wanted cuddly toys and DS wanted rubber snakes/spiders etc.
