Thanks Dancing & Willow.
I remember DS being hard work at 3, really stubborn and frustrated and not wanting to listen AT ALL. DD is very similar but it feels worse. 😂
She is also resisting toilet training as DS did. 😭 Most of her cloth nappies are too small now although I have some junior size ones that are bigger and her night nappies still fit so can use those but she is mostly wearing disposables now.
Nursery don’t like the cloth nappies (they said it’s an infection control issue keeping the used nappies in a wet bag 🤔) so she has to wear disposables there as well. I just wish she would use the toilet, I hate the disposables, they stink compared to the cloth nappies and cost me money. 🙁Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I did the cold turkey method from the Oh Crap Potty Training book with both my kids for potty training (get rid of the nappies and stay in for a few days, starting with them bare bum). It doesn’t take too long til they grasp it even when they’re tiny so I’d imagine it will be even quicker at 3 as she will understand the concept. If there are no nappies they can’t hold out for them.I know some people prefer to wait til they ask etc. Just mentioning as it worked for me! With DS there was 2-3 weeks of a few accidents before he clicked but DD got it very quickly (well for pee; poo was trickier!). If you think she’d ready it could be worth giving it a shot but only if you have the mental capacity for the extra work right now! Otherwise I’d wait til after Christmas, no sense causing stress at this time of year.
It’s brilliant you managed to use some cloth, I know it must be frustrating that nursery won’t use them but it’s good they’ve at least saved you some money.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Thanks guys, DS was the same with toilet training, super stubborn and would rather wet himself than comply when I took the nappies away! Can see DD doing the same tbh.
DS did start using the potty after being at nursery for a few months but would refuse to use the potty for me, however he would do it for his gran & dad!Hopefully DD will get there soon, she has asked DH to get her out of the bath so she can pee on the toilet twice in the last week. She wouldn’t do that with me. 🤷🏻♀️ Just sits on the toilet for 2 seconds then jumps up again without doing anything.
I have used cloth nappies with DD since she was 4 months old so have gotten a good amount of use from them. I wanted to use them with DS but it all felt too overwhelming when he was my first and I was shell shocked. 🤭Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Feeling exhausted today, DD was up from half past midnight to 1:30am this morning with a cough. She has another bug as has been doing multiple horrible poos the last 2 days. 😷
We were up and out for 9:45 for the school Christmas fair today. DS freaked out a bit as it was so busy but soon perked up when he spotted the toy stall and the cake stall. 😂 He got a toy tank for £1.50 and was overjoyed with it as he loves soldiers/army stuff atm.DD got a Barbie car missing a windscreen for £1 to sit her dolls in, as one of the other mums commented “just what you need” 🤣 Next year will probably be worse as the kids will know what to expect and plan accordingly!
I overheard one wee boy (about 6/7) asked one of the ladies running the stall how much a toy was. He was astounded when she said £1 and kept repeating “A pound! Only a pound!” to himself. 😂
DH was also accidentally shot by a mum with a nerf gun at the toy stall. 🤣 She was mortified but it was so funny.
We got a bottle of tonic water and a bottle of rose wine on the water to wine table which was good.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.1 -
DH has put all the Christmas lights up today inside & out.I put up the Christmas tree and decorated it. DS was a good help with the baubles and DD tried but can’t hang them properly so was handing them to me and telling me where to put them!
She was also singing we wish you a merry Christmas to me. 😂 DS was most disappointed that Santa was not in fact coming tonight because the Christmas tree was up. 🤭
Still need to put up my foil garlands in the living room - around the ceiling but not meeting in the middle like my mum used to do. 😊
Working late shift again tomorrow then got to get the kids sorted on Monday morning solo for the first time in ages as DH doing a phased return to work. All going well I can drop them off then go home to bed for a couple of hours extra sleep. 🤞Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Both of my boys resisted potty training until the last possible minute before they started school. Others mums I knew were much luckier - it's all swings and roundabouts I guess. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
