Sending hugs Sashy, it’s awful when they are ill. Hoping that she stopped vomiting ASAP! And that you get some sleep soon.I agree it’s no bad thing for children to learn they aren’t entitled to everything they want. Crap as it can feel to say no as a parent. You are actually modelling really excellent lessons for him in that you have to afford luxuries like holidays not just book them regardless, so please don’t feel bad.Not everyone can afford a holiday. Even those who can, many just have one in the summer and aren’t going away in every single break so he really won’t be the only kid in his class not away this time. We aren’t away anywhere this Oct break either, apart from anything else we don’t have enough annual leave spare for us both to be off together multiple times a year as we cover the school hols between us!Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Thanks Dancing & Bluegreen, DD wasn’t sick again until the Thursday night, she started crying just as I was going to bed (up at 5am the next day for work).Went into her room and she was starting to be sick so wheeched her out of bed so she was sick all over the carpet. Still got sick on her pillow and sheet and the bottom of her hair though. 😩 So I had to strip her & wash her hair again while she fought me the whole time.Thankfully DH was at home so he stripped her bed, remade it and cleaned the sick off the carpet.I had to get into bed with her again until she settled and she was ok after half an hour. She hasn’t been sick since so fingers crossed that’s her getting over this horrible bug.
DS stayed over with my mum and they went to my aunt’s and played with her twin grandsons who are a year older. He had a great time so at least he got out.
I can’t remember if I mentioned that my older nieces got a kitten. The kids met it on Monday before DD got ill and absolutely loved it. They were both really gentle with him & he fell asleep on DS’s knee. 🥰Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Oh I just remembered that the kitten was playing with the laces on DD’s boots and she was raging saying “No, they’re my boots you bad boy” 🤣 She didn’t have the boots on at the time and went and picked them up so he couldn’t play with them. 🤷🏻♀️😂Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Thanks Beanie, DD is definitely much better - she hasn't stopped eating since yesterday so obviously making up for lost time. She is much happier too although still having terrible tantrums, I remember 3 was a horrible age for DS too.
DD starts nursery next week! I'm looking forward to it as it will be good for both of us - she really needs the stimulation - but I'm a bit sad too.
Took the kids to the park yesterday and they ran about for over an hour, they made friends with some twins and we also met one of my cousins who was there with her son & niece so that was good.
Today I'm planning on brushing, hoovering & turning the couch cushions and putting the halloween decorations up in the living room. Also have the usual washing to do - last night's washing already put away but still need to get another wash on after the nappy pre-wash.
It would be good to get the floors cleaned downstairs plus the bathrooms but will see how it goes. Back to work tomorrow for 2 early shifts which I could do without.
Keeping on with the surveys and paid another extra £20 off the lower car loan yesterday. I'm trying to overpay that loan first but make small overpayments to my larger CC balance as at the moment it won't be paid off by the time the 0% runs out.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Feeling very tired today, I never sleep well on early shifts. I was also up early this morning to join the picket line outside my work, second strike day for us although I’ve been lucky that both days weren’t days I was rostered to work so haven’t lost money (yet).
DS went to his school Halloween disco on Thursday night, he wanted to be a soldier. In the end he looked more like a fisherman 😂 as he had a camo vest on over a long sleeved top & green joggers with a camouflage cap & sunglasses.
He refused to wear the camouflage trousers I got for him, luckily they were from v!nted so hadn’t spent too much. He enjoyed himself and was fine with me leaving him, I was worried he might be upset.
DS also had a good day at school the other day when his class visited the care home across the road from the school. His teacher spoke to me to tell me DS was lovely with the old people and giving them all cuddles. 🥰 He does love older people & babies, he is very loving.
We took the kids to the Halloween festival in town last night but it was so busy that it was actually scary. I got separated from DH & DS so was on my own with DD and had to carry her because I was scared she would get lost or squashed. We were all crushed in a bottleneck for 10 minutes and not moving at all.
There were lots of stalls selling plastic tat that the kids wanted as they lit up. They were charging £10 for each thing! 😦 We refused to pay that so the kids were upset and we had to go home. They cheered up with a nice bubble bath, poor DD was actually crying in the crush that she wanted to go home.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. DD started nursery on Tuesday, only an hour and we stayed with her - she seemed to enjoy it, however she has not been settling the last 2 days as we have to leave her so she can get used to us not being around. I thought she would be fine and settle quickly but not happening.
I will admit I cried after leaving her the first time ( she didn't see) and then had a phone call within 40 mins to come and get her as she was freaking out and they didn't want her getting any more distressed. Today she managed nearly an hour before they called, hoping tomorrow she can manage an hour and a half.
DS took a couple of weeks to settle in at nursery, hopefully she will be a bit quicker but it's not looking likely.
Hoovered the stairs and the bedrooms then cleaned the bathrooms today and have done the nappy wash and the kids bedding now on. Hung another washing up this morning. Changed all the bedding yesterday but only got our set washed and dried.
Had a checkup at the dentist yesterday, the kids were so excited and really enjoyed it. 😂 All ok so just have to work out when we can book our next checkup.
Have paid £20 off the lower car loan and £10 off each CC from survey money received. Have sold a few more bits on v!nted.

Thanks Beanie, she had a good hour on Friday, no crying and wanting to leave so we’re trying 2 hours on Monday. Hopefully she will be ok, she’s been saying her tummy hurts most mornings so think she’s been quite nervous. 😔
On the moneysaving front I have had a couple of bargains. I got some jeans for £8 after a 20% discount and having a £10 voucher from surveys. I already have the same jeans but wanted them in black as they are really comfy and the right length.
I also got an offer on am@zon for £10 off £25 spend when buying through the app. I bought a game for the kids (Twister), some wee toys for DD’s stocking & a tea set for my great nephew’s Christmas present. He will be 2 in January and enjoys playing with the tea set in the kids play kitchen. I also had £21 survey vouchers so paid £6.50 in actual cash. Pleased with that.
I have a good idea of what I’m buying most people so hope to get that done over the next few weeks.Once DD is in full days I want to finally get the kitchen painted as well.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
