Thanks Honeysuckle, DS seems to be enjoying school so far.He is still a bit reluctant to do any writing but actually asked to do “homework” yesterday when DD was drawing. He did some a’s & t’s which is what they are practicing in class.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Just catching up with you and can’t believe your outlaws 😡 What a shame they have to be like this.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Thanks SA, I think they think in their twisted way that they're "teaching us a lesson" but they actually like to use the fact that they have money and we don't as a stick to beat us with. The kids wanted to facetime the outlaws when I was at work so DH called them and his dad was "joking" and rubbing his face in the fact that they have solar panels and have only spent £98 on electricity over the last 3 months. These horrible "jokes" are another issue - I told DH his dad is just being an a***h*le.
We have got the utility room painted and DH has got the frame up for the shelf and put an undercoat on it. Hoping to get it finished today and get the living room prepped to paint next week. I'm working again tomorrow but then have 4 days off.
I have ordered the single mattress for DD's big bed as the price had dropped, there was a £10 off offer and I had enough saved up. I'm hoping to only have to save another £150 towards a bed frame and a wool duvet then my survey money can go back to debt repayments.
I can't face adding the new car debt to my signature yet. 😞 My car that we are using as part exchange for the new car has started playing up so we're having to take it to the garage to get it fixed, I could just cry. It will probably cost at least £300 to fix if it's the same sensor issue we had last time.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. We used to have a wool duvet and they’re brilliant. Sorry to hear about the car playing up, just typical as you’re about to part ex 😩As for FIL 🤬I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

@sashybo I’ve just read your whole diary! Such a good read 🙂 I have a 6.5yo DS and 3.5yo DD (just a little older than your two, my DS is in P2 and DD started nursery school in Jan) so was nodding along as your diary brought the baby/toddler stage back!Sorry you’ve had to add to your debt with a newer car due to the LEZ. I live in Glasgow and we just replaced our car for the second time this year 🤦♀️ one of the reasons being the car we bought earlier in the year was a lemon and also we stupidly didn’t realise it wasn’t ULEZ compliant. We don’t quite live in the LEZ but we are not far from the city centre so it would be madness to not have a ULEZ car. Even if I drive DS to school (he is in Gaelic medium education not our local school) if he isn’t getting the school bus that day, my route would enter into the LEZ. Like you I found the whole thing so annoying and punitive! We were so fortunate my mum lent us the money for the new car interest free, we agreed to pay her over three years. Your in laws have an awful attitude!!!Totally in awe of everything you do with working shifts and having two kids, you are always so busy in the house, garden and kitchen. My DH is very practical and handy, I’m good at cooking but will be the first to admit I can be a bit lazy and so we tend to let a lot of stuff slide too long like redecorating as I put it on my list but never bother with it 🤦♀️Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Thanks for visiting Bluegreen 😊 I have bursts of energy and get a lot done for a while then I’m lazy for ages again. 😂
We have managed to paint the living room, took us 3 days in the end. It was hard work but looks great now, the blue paint is lovely and a nice change. I will need new curtains though as the old colour doesn’t really go.We had a mix up with the gloss as DH had bought a new tin of satinwood but got the solvent based instead of water based. The solvent based takes 16 hours plus to dry and yellows after a few years whereas the water based dries in 4-6 hours and doesn’t yellow. So we had done a couple of doors & half the skirting with the solvent based one before realising. It meant that we had to leave the second coat until the following day rather than later that night. So it was a bit annoying as it set us back a bit. We did go & buy the water based one to do the top coat so hopefully it won’t yellow.
We’re having a break from painting for a week or 2, then we will do the kitchen. It has a lot of doors so a lot of gloss to do in there.
Plans for this week are to sand & re-varnish the dining table and tidy up the garden. The hedge needs cut and the raspberries will need pruned back soon too. The front garden needs a good prune & tidy as well.

We’re having a saga with DH’s new car, it was meant to arrive on Thursday and didn’t. The car place didn’t contact us so DH was chasing them to find out what was happening!
Long story short, some dingbat dented the new (to us) car when taking it off the transporter so they need to repair it. They’re now saying no slots to get the new car until 10 days after the original date!
We have had to buy a week’s temporary insurance for my car which was meant to be part exchanged. The car place are refunding this along with the delivery fee and are making noises about some compensation.Oh we also had to pay £200 to repair the sensor fault with my car earlier in the week.
All the car nonsense is just adding more stress we don’t need. 😩Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
Have been busy the last few days - got a load of kids clothes on v!nted as I found loads of too small things in DD’s drawers. I thought I had cleared all the age 2-3 stuff out but no there was still a lot there.
I have sold quite a few things and have a rough idea of what DD needs. Just a couple of long sleeved tops, pjs, t-shirts and a couple of long sleeved dresses. Oh and thicker socks for winter and possibly tights.
On Monday I cleaned the floors downstairs and brushed and hoovered the couches. DH put the curtain pole back up in the living room with new curtains.
Yesterday we tidied up both the front & back gardens. I pruned the climbing rose and hebe bushes in the front and weeded. DH cut the hedge and the grass.I took DS to a bedtime story club at school the other night from 6-7pm. The kids had to wear pjs, there were 2 story rooms and bedtime yoga in the school gym that the parents had to join in too. 🤣 I was exhausted after that.
Poor DS fell over his own feet in one of the story rooms and landed on top of a wee girl. They banged heads so she was crying and DS was just like “whatever”. 🤦🏻♀️Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. DD has been quite difficult the last few nights at bedtime. She’s gotten too used to me always putting her to bed and is acting up for DH who then gets fed up and leaves her in worked up/tantrum mode. She has mostly stopped napping as well now so is exhausted by bedtime.DH still doesn’t have his new car, might get it by the end of the week! The company have been pretty poor at giving any dates/times and don’t seem to care much!Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Working earlies the last 2 days so have had a fairly lazy day - did the big cat litter clean out, gave the bathrooms a wipe and have done 4 loads of washing and hung them out. One of the washings has dried so have taken it in and put it away, one was a new duvet set for DD's big bed that I had bought a while ago and put away without washing.
Tomorrow I will need to put the big nappy wash on and a washing of mine and DH's clothes so hopefully it will stay dry.
Got DH to hoover the stairs as he somehow missed them out when I asked him to hoover upstairs the other day. 🤨
My mum picked DS up from school and took him home on the bus today (very exciting for him 😂). She is keeping him overnight so hopefully DD will have calmed down and sleep better tonight. She was a devil last night screaming until she fell asleep then screaming at 4am and fighting me when I had to change her nappy as it had leaked over her pjs. Really can't wait until she is toilet trained, she has been trying on pants and telling me she wants to pee but never actually sits long enough to do it. Then does it on the floor 5 seconds later. 🤦♀️
DH sold something on eb@y so gave me money towards DD's bed so I have ordered the bed frame now. 👍 Had enough money left over to order some single sheets, another waterproof mattress protector (already have one) and some Christmas bedding for her. 😃
My survey money can now go back towards debts, even more important as we have doubled the debt with the new car loan. 😢 DH hopefully getting the new car this weekend but we will see.
I have sold a lot on v!nted so managed to drop off the parcels during my break/on the way home on the days I was working. I will use some of the money towards buying things the kids need, think DD actually needs some bigger size vests for winter too but hoping to have some left to go towards debt or the Christmas fund.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
