Got £50 survey money through so have put into savings towards buying a single bed for DD, she will be too big for her toddler bed shortly.

It’s raining today but still clammy and sweaty. We had thunder & lightning about 11pm last night then again about 3am and a lot of heavy rain.

DS lost another tooth this morning so will have tooth fairy duties tonight. He is also starting school tomorrow. 😭 Will need to convince him to actually try on his uniform and school shoes!!

    Thanks Beanie & Dancing.

DS found the box of Lego in the classroom and didn’t give a fig when we left. 😂

DD had to be dragged out screaming, she loves the school & nursery there! She was shouting “I want to go to school” in between screams as I wrestled her out of the school, held horizontally to minimise kicks, bites & scratches. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Obviously past the headteacher & both deputies. 🤣 Good God it was stressful.

DS came out perfectly happy and seems to have enjoyed himself which is good.

Well at least the headtechers know that your DD is looking forward to coming!
    Glad your DS enjoyed  :)
I remember my DS's first day like yesterday.

We managed to get the bathroom and en-suite painted so both looking much better.

The main bathroom has some patches that need going over as the old (rubbish) paint was cracking & coming off when DH used the roller over it. It was only in a few places though, mostly the bits that have been water damaged by the kids splashing!

DH is going to do the utility room this week, it is very small so won’t take long and will only need to do a tiny amount of skirting & one side of the door, the other can wait until we paint the kitchen.

We have been looking at colours for the living room as we fancy a change from white. It’s going to be a shade of blue, we have navy couches with a mix of teal & mustard coloured cushions. Just have to make sure the walls aren’t too dark or clash with the couches.

DH also wants colour in our bedroom but I’m not sure. It will be the last room painted anyway. Still have living room, kitchen, stairway (plus bannister which will probably need stripped as the gloss is awful due to it being a new build) and upstairs hallway.

DS was exhausted yesterday as he was at school all day then had his swimming lesson afterwards.

He also got homework, I didn’t realise they got it at 5. He has words to practice recognising and some letters to try and write. Also a task of playing a board game with his family - I don’t think we own a kid friendly board game! Does pop up pirate count? 🤣

Homework attempt lasted 5 mins as DS was just too tired and kept crying. Will try a bit tonight but don’t want to force it and then he doesn’t like doing it. 🫤

I was also exhausted as working early shifts and then picked DS up and got him organised for swimming. DH took him and I then had to do all the dishes DH left lying about (apparently can’t wash a dish whilst watching DD 😡) put a washing away & put another washing on.

DH did make dinner when he got back and washed most of the dishes from that.

We fell out at bedtime as he kept telling me to go to bed when I was getting things organised -tidying the kitchen, washing more bl**dy dishes and taking DS’s swimming stuff out of the washing machine. I was heading to bed but was annoyed that he doesn’t seem to realise the stuff I have to do every night to get things sorted for the morning. He was also talking to me like I was DS. 😑

  • On the homework front, if your DS is given letters to practice, use a pot of water and a paint brush and practice the letters on the ground outside or any outside surfaces where  the water will show up. It will give practice for letter formation and help the development of fine motor skills. Ditto chalk.

Seems very early to go back...when do schools break up for the summer?

Thanks for the tip Honeysuckle, DS might enjoy a paintbrush or chalk more, he is very interested in reading but less so in writing.

Schools up here finish end of June and go back mid August.
