😂 Beanie, I wish DH would say that! They go straight to him and don't even bother communicating with me so they can guilt him into agreeing dates that suit them even though they tell him to give them dates that suit us. 🙄Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. @sashybo Are you never tempted to have a huge row with those horrible people and tell them exactly what you think of them? 😂 Beanie, yes but remember I should be doing everything the way the outlaws say is the best way to do it!!!
Scottiedog I just try my best to ignore their ridiculousness, it's more generalised moaning when it comes to the kids, the outlaws just don't like noise! They also like to make digs implying that we're bad parents because we let our kids.... be kids?! You know, make noise and argue and cry etc? Actually they just don't really like young kids, especially my FIL, he is really intolerant of things that don't suit him. I mean, no one ENJOYS wee kids crying or whatever but it's just part and parcel of it, they're not the ones dealing with it day in and day out.
If they ever say anything hurtful or critical directly to the kids then I'll definitely be saying something. I've seen what constant criticism has done to DH, he's a nervous wreck around his parents and I don't want that for my kids. I actually can't hide anything I'm feeling, I have one of those faces that just communicates everything 😂 so I think they know I'm frequently annoyed with/by them. 😂Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. It was a lovely day today, I was actually outside without a jacket! 😮 😂 I got the big nappy wash dried on the line plus the sheets off my bed which saved a lot of tumble dryer usage. 🎉
I finally repotted my jalapeño seedlings into bigger pots and sowed some calendula, marigolds, more sweet peas and some violas. I have moved my sweet pea seedlings (possibly foolishly) into the greenhouse with some fleece to try and keep them warm at night. Also ordered mini cucumber seeds as the kids love them and they're usually pretty easy to grow.
Took DS to the library, returned his books and got some more out, they have a really good kids selection so he was really happy. I need to take DD in as I think she would enjoy it too.
Made broccoli and stilton soup with frozen broccoli and some old stilton that was hanging about in the fridge. The soup is a bit strong but still nice, DH & I had some for lunch, DD came begging so I gave her a small bowl not expecting her to like it but she loved it, she said it was delicious and gave me a thumbs up. 😂 DS took one look and said ewww, he's not keen on soup at the best of times.
DH working day shift and I'm working late tomorrow so won't really see him, my mum is covering the gap between me going to work and DH coming home. I'll get all the kids stuff ready for bedtime and get their clothes organised for Monday morning as well before going to work.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I am actually surprised that your DH actally wants to see his parents.

Beanie, I think he is steamrollered into it a lot and they definitely use emotional blackmail. He did actually cut off contact with them for a few years due to their bullying but that was around 15 years ago now. He was seeing a counsellor and it was like he realised he actually had a choice and didn't have to see them if he didn't want to. They obviously blamed me for his decision not to see them!
They actually only want to see him and the kids when it suits them, they're very selfish people, everything has to be on their terms. Of course if I actually said this to them they would deny it and then say but we gave you money for this, this and this. Yes they gave us money for our house deposit and I won't deny it has helped us massively but it also gave them something they can hold over us.
DH also frequently brings up to me that they never contact him, he always has to phone them. I think he feels hurt that they don't seem interested enough to phone him, I told him to just wait it out but he isn't patient enough!
Remember they wanted to give us money for the sunroom that we didn't really want, so they had the money (which would have cleared our debts) but wouldn't give us the cash, they wanted to dictate what it was spent on. So while it seemed like a nice thought, it was just another way to try and control us. They would never give us money towards debt. 🤷♀️ Ok obviously it's our debt and it's their money so up to them but wouldn't you want to make your kid's life easier if you could afford to?
I don't understand them, maybe they like us being in debt so they can dangle money for things we couldn't otherwise afford? I don't think it's as intentional as that in their heads but they do like to be in control of everything. They have fallen out with so many (long term) friends because they want to have everything their own way and won't compromise, even silly things like they don't like spicy food so won't take their friends to an Indian restaurant or whatever.

Another sunny day here for a change, hoping to get at least one washing hung out before I have to go to work.
Have cleaned the kitchen worktops, hob and hood and tidied a bit too. The messiest area of the worktop will need to wait until tomorrow. Quick clean of the litter trays and have opened windows through the house to air it.
Need to look at ordering birthday presents for my sister & niece as well as my mum’s garden fork. 🤣 Need to order Mother’s Day cards too.
Also need to look into some sort of experience for my brother’s 30th birthday, we are pooling money with my mum & sister but don’t know what to get him. He’s done a flying lesson and super car one before. Need to look for a photo book deal as well to make one up for him.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
