My DS developed one this year.
Like you I thought you had from birth(like mine)
His is quite severe & caused major double vision & blinding headaches and obviously he could not drive. So has only driven once since March. Ho hum.

Thanks all, I was pleased with the money off the candle as it's something I would buy anyway.

Beanie your DS's astigmatism sounds like it would have given him a fright, you wouldn't think it would cause those symptoms. My astigmatism is only mild but I have definitely noticed that my eyesight wasn't as sharp recently. I think I'm more aware of small changes after being very short sighted for 20 years and then having the laser surgery to correct it. I'm glad that my right eye has remained stable at -1 and hasn't got worse. I wasn't expecting the astigmatism at all!

Today I have cashed out £20 from PA and paid £10 off one of my 0% CC's and £10 off my every day spending card (gets paid in full on payday) as I have bought a few extras. I also used my prize draw points to get a £10 am@zon voucher which I have used towards a Christmas present and also a very boring but necessary purchase. I have actually ordered clips to try and stop the fitted sheet coming off my mattress all the time. 🤦‍♀️ The mattress is very deep and even deep fitted sheets seem to come off all the time so the clips are worth a try.

I also realised I had enough points to order a £10 M&S voucher so that can go towards something nice from there - I do like their Christmas cakes. 🤔 😊 Oh and I have ordered another £10 am@zon voucher using points on another survey site. When that comes through I will probably use it towards another present.

  • Sounds like you're really organised.
Could you not get another candle from m&s?

Thanks Nicnak, think I'm getting there. Yes I might buy another candle if they have any left next time I'm passing.

DS enjoyed his night staying over with his gran and she took him for a couple of long walks the next day as well so he was exhausted when he came home. It was nice to get a break but the house was very quiet without him even with DD still here! My mum came up for dinner, we had a gammon joint done in the slow cooker with roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings, steamed carrots and red cabbage. I made a chocolate cake for dessert which DS was very happy about as cake is the love of his life. 😂

Today DH added the compost and fertiliser to the bed for the hedging whilst I cut down the sweet peas as they were finally dying back and also cut back the climbing rose at the front of the house. DD was pretty good sitting in her pram watching us although there was some protest crying as she wanted out! She also pulled her socks off and was waving her bare feet about in the cold air. 🤷‍♀️ 😂

I emailed the place I have ordered the hedging from just to ask when they were sending out the bare roots and they replied saying they were starting to dispatch this week and asking if I wanted mine delivered on a particular date. After tomorrow DH won't be off to help me plant the hedge until next Wed/Thurs so I asked them to deliver the plants on the Wednesday and hopefully we can get them planted on the Thursday.

I managed to hoover both upstairs and down today but will need to do the stairs tomorrow. Got a couple of washings done and the big clean of the litter trays as well. Hoping to do the bathrooms tomorrow as well. Need to try and fit some yoga in as well.

I have also written the kids' letters to santa for them and will get them posted off soon so that they will hopefully get a reply. DS is quite interested in santa but doesn't understand the concept of asking him for stuff yet! I put his christmas bedding on and he's pleased with it anyway. 😊

Thanks Beanie, my mum said DS was fairly confident that I was coming to get him even when she was tucking him into bed. 😂 But he wasn't crying or upset so that's good. He did manage to roll out of the single bed as it's quite a bit higher than his toddler bed at home but was all bundled up in the duvet so didn't hurt himself, just had a shock!

The gammon was nice Beanie, we didn't do anything with it except chuck it in the slow cooker with a bit of water and leave it. DH did the roasties and yorkies as he's very good at them. 😊

I got nothing done today in the house apart from 3 washings, really need to do the bathrooms tomorrow as a bare minimum. I made sweet & sour chicken for dinner, had leftover coconut rice in the freezer so just had to defrost it and made a ginger cake for dessert.

Didn't manage any yoga either, so hoping to squeeze that in tomorrow as well. I have placed an order for 2 memory blankets made up from the kids' old clothes, so picked the clothes I wanted used in them and got them packaged up and DH has organised a courier pick up to get the clothes sent to the lady that does them. She has a 12-14 week waiting list so I won't be getting the finished blankets back until March at the earliest. But that is one less job done.

I posted the letters to santa on my way home from the chiropractor today so another job ticked off. I'd like to start wrapping presents soon so that I don't have to do them all at once. I'd say I have around 90% of my presents bought already, I have been using my christmas present app to track what I've bought and how much I've spent. Currently sitting at around £270 which is pretty good but haven't bought much for DH and have used a couple of vouchers from surveys to part pay for other gifts. I'll need to take out cash for my nephews as well.

Payday on Friday and got my payslip today, I think I'll need to email HR as I have had a mysterious £17 coming off my wage this month and last and I'm not sure what it is. I think it's something to do with my pension and possibly something to do with maternity leave but I'm not sure. They were taking some money off my statutory mat pay towards my pension but obviously not the full amount. 🤔

Why do they not have a list of reason codes to explain what things mean? It would be much easier and save me chasing them for an answer as I doubt they'll reply to my email. 😖

I did manage some yoga on Thursday (finally) after dropping DS at nursery and DD with my mum for the afternoon. I only really had an hour and a half to myself but better than nothing.

Managed to clean the bathrooms that morning as well along with another 2 loads of washing. So did not too badly an got stuff done.

On Friday I had DS's parents feedback from nursery, only a phone call rather than the usual visit due to covid. The teacher is quite happy with his progress and said he is settling in well, he's still a bit quiet but will chat one on one. She said he spends most of his time outside in the nursery garden and doesn't tend to sit still. Sounds about right. 😂

I got my hair cut that afternoon, just got about 3 inches off as it was getting very long and collected my new glasses. Luckily I still liked the frames, couldn't remember what they looked like after choosing them! They are only really for driving but I wore them at home that night to try and get used to them. DS shouted "Noooo! TAKE THEM OFF!" when he saw me wearing them. 🤷‍♀️ 😂

Also discovered that payroll managed to not pay me for one of my Sunday shifts. 🙄 So another email sent about that, I did get it paid as an extra payment into my account but was charged 32% tax again. 😠

Can't remember if I mentioned that I made a £50 OP to the tesco loan, which is our highest interest rate loan. I used some of my survey money, I still have some left over so will use that towards DH's christmas presents.

Have had a fairly lazy weekend as DH working, so just been hoovering and doing the usual washings. I stripped our bed and put on my new nutcracker christmas bedding which I'm pleased with. 😊
