Thanks Beanie, I can try the HV if I don't get anywhere with the GP surgery, didn't think of that. My surgery used to have an online booking system which made life so much easier but they have suspended it since March due to Covid. 🤷♀️ I don't know why as it's made the phone lines even more of a nightmare than they were before.
I'll just have to keep hitting redial tomorrow morning. *sigh*Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.1 -

Aw poor DS, hope you get an appointment & a resolution for him.x1

Thanks Beanie & Dancing, I actually managed to get through after hitting redial constantly for 15 mins, much better than the hour it took last time! The Dr has prescribed a laxative to be taken once a day, it's a flavourless powder so I can put it into his juice. I've to give it a couple of weeks, see how it goes and then speak to the Dr again. Fingers crossed it helps DS feel better.
Today I finally re-potted my african violet cuttings so I now have 4 new plants. I'm re-homing 2 to my brother's gf as she loves plants and I had previously promised her some. I've also painted some small terracotta pots for my older nieces to put the aloe veras I gave them into. I couldn't find the right colours so I bought plain terracotta pots and some acrylic paint, they look pretty good actually. 😊
Apart from that I did some more washings, made a cheese and onion quiche for dinner and hoovered the living room. I also made an appointment to speak to DS's nursery teacher for his first parent's night (well actually morning) next week. It's all phone appointments but I couldn't get the online booking for it to work so had to phone the school office instead.
DH dug out the turf in the front garden where the bare roots hedging plants are going to go. Tomorrow I'm taking the kids to my mum's for the morning and then I'm going to help him loosen up the soil, remove the rubble left behind by the builders 🙄 and add new compost and blood, fish and bone powder to make the soil better for the plants. I've not had a date for delivery of the hedging yet but it would be good if it arrived at the end of this week or start of next so we could get it in straight away. We also need to get some bark chippings to put around the base of the hedging/cover the soil.
My mum is going to keep DS overnight at the weekend for the first time since DD was born! 😱 Hadn't realised it was that long tbh but she has decorated a room for him and got the bed put up and all the bedding on it. I think she has missed having him over and it will be good for him to be the centre of attention. He asks me every day if we're going to see gran, he just adores her. 💓Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Lovely and a little break for you as well. I know you still have DD.
Have a lovely weekend xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

Hi Beanie & Nicnak, yes glad that DS loves spending time with his gran, makes it easier for all of us! Just having DD on her own is still a break as she's not a lot of bother at this age, she is just starting to have wee temper tantrums at times and wanting her own way but is mostly pretty easy going like DS was until he turned 3. 😂
Work was fine yesterday and I've got a wee bonus day off today as they had extra staff. I still had to get up early and call in at 6:30 to see if they needed me but they didn't so get the day off but still get paid. Not back in for 2 weeks now as I have accrued annual leave to use. Nice to be off work but will need to plan a couple of escape days from the kids instead! Even just getting out to do the shopping on my own is a break.
Instead of going back to bed this morning I stayed up and did some yoga then sat on the couch reading with the cats. Just enjoying the peace before the kids wake up.
Had an eye test yesterday after work as I have been noticing that I've been squinting more recently to try and see things. I thought my right eye had gotten more short sighted again but apparently it's stable at -1 which is very slightly short sighted. My left eye has developed an astigmatism though! I didn't even know that was possible, I thought you were born with it for some reason. 🤔 My sister has always had it, my mum has it and so do my older nieces so obviously a family thing. The optometrist said he has an astigmatism and it developed in his 30s too.
So the upshot is that I'm getting glasses for driving - with the lenses, frames and anti glare coating they're going to cost me £149. 😱 My work health plan will cover some of the cost but not all, any money towards it will be a help though.
The hedging area still needs to be finished off as it took DH & I over 2 hours just to remove the builder's rubble and giant stones etc the other day. We just need to add some compost and soil fertiliser and mix it through so should be able to do that in the next couple of days. Haven't had any notification of when the plants are arriving yet but should hopefully be in the next week or two.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Oh I forgot to mention that I bought myself a Christmas candle from M&S in town yesterday as well. I always buy the mandarin, clove & cinnamon 3 wick candle which is usually £10 but found it at the outlet for £6.50 then it had 50% off on top, so got it for £3.25. 🥳 For that price I should have bought two!
I also won a prize draw on one of the survey panels I'm on and got £10 worth of points. 😀 So I can use that towards a Christmas present as well. 👍Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. That's a real bargain on the candle and fantastic getting the £10. XSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
