Hi all, thanks for dropping by. Love a set of Christmas bedding, I like to have a brushed cotton fitted sheet as well for a bit of snuggliness without being too warm. Pleased to report that my fitted sheet clips seem to be keeping the sheet on the bed so far. 🍻
The bare roots plants for our hedge ended up being delivered a day late, so DH & I only had enough time to plant half of the hedge yesterday before it was time to pick DS up from nursery and we were losing daylight. The going was made even harder by finding even more stones, bricks and tiles from the builders just chucking it all in the gardens and covering it with soil. 😠
I tried to do a bit more today on my own as DH had to go to work but the soil was so heavy from the rain that it was really hard to move and I found lots more rocks. I uncovered a huge stone, I'm not sure what it is actually, it might even be a slab of concrete or something because I couldn't find the edges to lever it out. 😩 Going to need both of us to try and dig it out as it's right in the middle of the next area where we need to plant and can't plant on top of it as it's not that far down really. I don't know how DH missed it when he dug the turf out!
I was trying to get it out for 45 mins and had to give up, I was covered in mud and exhausted. Only got around 4 more plants in before coming across the giant horror. 😭 I soaked the roots of the remaining plants and wrapped them back up before putting them in the shed. Hopefully we can get the rest of the planting done on Sunday, obviously depending on getting the huge stone/rock/slab out.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I got mine from A$da George Beanie, I think it was £14 for a king size duvet set. I saw some nice ones on the Dune1m website as well and mata1an usually have nice ones too (and money off voucher codes). The stock can be iffy on a$da's site, things seem to go out of stock a lot but then back in again within a few days. I think a lot of sites are struggling as so many more people are shopping online due to lockdown.
That's my area in tier 4 as of today, so fed up of it all. 🤨 Need to remind DH to call the garage about my MOT & service which is due in the next week or two. Also need to get him to pre-order a turkey crown for Christmas at the butchers.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Thanks Beanie, you too.
Today DH & I investigated the giant stone in the hedge planting area and discovered it was indeed concrete. 😱 Looks like the builders just poured some into the ground. 😱 So no getting it out as there was a huge amount. There was just enough space to plant on top of it, so we'll have to just cross our fingers and hope the plants have enough room to establish a decent root system. 😐
We managed to get the second half of the hedge planted whilst DD napped and DS watched a film. He kept asking to come out with us but we couldn't let him as we were in the front garden and he would have run away down the street. 😞 He was ok though as long as I kept checking in on him.
I found so much more rubbish in the soil though, loads of stones, roof tiles and half and quarter bricks. I'm all achey now from the digging and bending, I'm so unfit. Just hope that the hedge takes ok. We just need to get some bark chippings down tomorrow and make sure that the support canes haven't been knocked by the wind.
DS's soft toy that he always takes to bed is missing! I couldn't find it anywhere at bedtime and actually text DH in a panic in case he knew where it was. We refer to the toy by a name, anyone reading it would think I was talking about a person going missing. 😂 I still can't find it. 🤔
I managed to get some chicken marinating in spices, yoghurt, garlic & fresh ginger in the fridge as well for tomorrow, I'm going to make a tikka masala. I'll make some spiced rice and naan bread in the morning to go with it. DS probably won't eat the curry as he's going through a fussy phase with food (everything is "I don't like it" or "it's disgusting" 🙄) but he will eat the rice and naan.
Did two loads of washing and some dishes and that's about it for the housework today. Will need to hoover tomorrow along with more washing.
DH built the new tv unit we bought and put it on the wall the other day, so we had the old tv unit sitting in the living room as well. My (almost) SIL's brother took it as there was nothing wrong with it, we just wanted one that went on the wall. He was so grateful for it and offered to give us money but we were just happy it was going to be used. He kept saying thank you, he's such a nice boy. 😊

Boo to being in Tier 4. We are still in lockdown for another week and a bit but they are talking about imposing stricter restrictions when we come out. I’ve really had enough of it now, the novelty has long worn off 😩I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1
