Did you find the soft toy? Am secretly hoping it’s name is something like Greg or similar hilarious equivalent

Hi guys, thanks for popping in.
We didn't get the bark chippings down as decided to add a bit more compost first but had run out. We got the compost today so DH will add it tomorrow and then the bark if we have time. We might need to get a small wind break to protect part of the hedge as the wind can be really vicious up here but we'll see how the plants do with just the canes for now.
VelvetFreak, thankfully we did find the toy the next morning, she was hiding in DS's room the whole time! 🤦♀️ Poor DS woke up at 6am crying saying "My -insert name here, My -insert name here" He was so upset without her. 😔 But I promised we would find her for him and that seemed to calm him enough to go back to sleep. Her name is quite old-fashioned and somewhat posh, along the lines of Mildred. 😂 I think it's a name that's actually back in fashion for babies now to be honest. DH named her, I have no idea why that name but that's what we all call her and refer to her as though she is a real live person and not DS's cuddle toy. 🤷♀️ 😂
I had a busy day on Sunday as hoovered the whole house and did several more washings as well as making spiced rice, naan bread and curry sauce along with cooking the marinated chicken. I also used up some frozen black bananas to make muffins, which DS was very pleased about.
Not back to work until the weekend which is good but will be on early shifts, which is not so good.
DS actually consented to have a pee in his potty tonight which is unheard of, he wanted to watch the pee coming out ( 😂) so I was trying to explain to him that standing up at the toilet would make that much easier. He was crouching in a weird way so that he could watch the pee instead. 🤷♀️
I'm going to try and get him to use it again in the morning but we'll see how that goes. Mornings aren't great as somehow I can get myself and two kids up and dressed in the time it takes DH to roll over in bed and stare at his phone. 😠 Ok he's working but it still annoys me when he won't get up. DD is also grouchy in the mornings and just wants her breakfast after about 15 mins so I won't really have time to try and persuade DS to use the potty. Fingers crossed he won't be stubborn about it and will want to use it but I'm not hopeful.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Of course DS refused to use the potty and had a screaming fit after dinner when we tried to get him to sit on it. 🤷♀️ He seems to be willing but as soon as we try to prompt him he starts resisting again.
Got called to nursery yesterday to collect DS early as they said he was lethargic and coughing. He's had a cold for a few days but was happy enough going into nursery. His teacher said obviously to keep an eye on him but if he kept coughing he'd need a covid test before he could go back to nursery. 😱 DH & I talked it over and decided to get a test booked that night for all of us, just in case. We went to a drive through test centre and had to swab ourselves and the kids. Poor DS struggled but DH managed to get both his throat and nostrils done. With DD I didn't even attempt her throat and just swabbed both nostrils, obviously she didn't know what was going on so was screaming and upset for ages afterwards. 😞
Anyway our results all came back negative within 12 hours which was really impressive! I kept DS off nursery anyway as he still wasn't right, I'll probably send him back on Tuesday next week (nursery is closed on Monday for St. Andrew's Day). He's still coughing and all stuffed up so we have the humidifier set up in his room tonight.
DH managed to get the compost and bark chippings down as well but not until yesterday morning as it was pouring with rain on Tuesday. When it stopped I actually had to go out and scoop loads of water out of the hedge area. 😱 It looks a lot more level now that DH has added compost and the bark so fingers crossed it doesn't flood again.
I managed to get all of the Christmas presents I have bought wrapped the other night so hopefully I'll only need to wrap a few more now. Will be looking out for a few deals on Black Friday, I also have £20 am@zon vouchers from surveys.
My mum retired from her job this week so my brother, sister & I sent her a lovely bouquet from a local florists. I need to go and visit her with a card and the small gift I got her (a box of caramel lattes, turkish delight thins and a collagen sheet mask - she likes random assortments of things 😂). She will still need to do some work as she won't get her state pension for another 5 or 6 years but she can pick and choose when and where she works which makes things easier for her.

Thanks all, I was very glad the tests were all negative and back so fast. 😊
Beanie, your mum must have some amount of energy! My mum is looking forward to taking a couple of months' break over the winter before going back to do a couple of shifts a month.
I had a look at some things for Black Friday but nothing I was looking for was discounted. 🤷♀️ Maybe some of them will have money off for Cyber Monday but not holding my breath. At least I have some am@zon vouchers to use towards one of the games DH asked for for Christmas.
I did change my B1rchbox subscription to a 6 month one yesterday as they had discounted it by 35% so it worked out cheaper than paying a month at a time. I might cancel after the 6 months and try a different beauty box subscription as there quite a few now.
I also paid a deposit towards some memory cushions for the kids to go with the blankets I have ordered as they were discounted. I only need to pay the balance for the cushions once I've sent the items to have them made. I probably won't do that until after Christmas and might even be longer than that as I'll need to get some of the kids' clothes put by and decide which ones I want to use. There's no time limit of having them made though, so no rush.
I bought a peter rabbit onesie for DD as part of her Christmas to go along with DS's paddington one. They were both from the local M&S outlet so were around half the price than in the normal shops. I also got a pair of nice gloves that are long enough to go right under my jacket cuffs for £2.25 as they were half price. 👍Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I can recommend Look Fantastic and Latest in Beauty for beauty box subscriptions, both brilliant 👍 I got a couple of Black Friday deals but felt it was a bit of a let down this year.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2
