Yes Nicnak, I had to use the CC to pay for the hedging but want to pay it off asap, I just wanted to get it pre-ordered so it was done and didn't get put off for another year!
Hi Honeysuckle, I have been researching hedging for ages now trying to decide - cotoneaster was my first choice, followed by hawthorn/blackthorn mixes and then I saw the dogwood and thought it would look very nice in the winter. DH was no help when I was asking him about different combos, he really couldn't care less. 😂
I'm still thinking about what to put in my new bed in the back garden, it's still not even dug out because DH needs to put some boarding down at the fence to stop the soil all sliding into the garden behind as their garden is lower than ours.
I'm thinking more climbers for the fence as we currently only have the one honeysuckle plant. I would like some winter flowering honeysuckle but would maybe put that nearer to the house. 🤔 Maybe some clematis or passion flowers for the back fence. Definitely some heucheras for the bed and the wild flower mixes we have and possibly a few other plants. I love getting new plants. 😊Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Sounds like you have it all planned out and know what you are doing. I am clueless when it comes to hedges and things like that.
Hopefully he'll dig it out soon so you can get it started and put what you want in when you decide. x

Hi Nicnak, I don't really know what I'm doing 😂 I've just been doing a lot of reading. Most of my gardening is a mixture of reading, buying what I like and a bit of instinct mixed with trial and error. Looking forward to getting the new bed underway and then the hedge planted in a few months.
Obviously I'm still not getting to bed any earlier! I'm just a night owl and hate going to bed early!
I forgot to mention that I finally foiled the magpie egg raiding by using a plastic box with a flap lid. So I just put it out with the empty milk bottles sitting in it and the milkman put the new bottles and the egg boxes in it and closed the lid for me. Hooray. 🥳 No smashed eggs courtesy of the cheeky magpies. Even DS calls them that, he shouts out the window at them "Go away cheeky magpies" 😂
Even better I used a plastic storage box we already had rather than buying a new one, so saved a couple of quid.
I have been wanting to spend money again, I mostly sorted myself out by buying a few books using a survey voucher but also bought some (not strictly needed) clothes. 😔 I did have a gift voucher for some of it but not all. I also ordered more clothes for the kids but after this they don't need any more so I have to stop. I think I'm doing a lot of it from boredom, I really have to stop browsing online. If I don't look then I won't see it.
DH has been mooching about looking sad and pathetic saying that he never gets any attention. 🙄 I'm dealing with the kids wanting me all day then when they're in bed DH wants attention and it's like having a big baby sometimes. I blame his mother. 😂
I just want a bit of peace! I had to sneak away upstairs yesterday afternoon with the ipad and hide in my bedroom to get away from them all! I got an hour of peace then they all piled in the bed with me. 🤦♀️
To be fair this was after a very stressful hour in the park with DS, who screamed at least half of the time because he didn't want to do anything he was told - screamed cos he didn't want to get out of the car, screamed cos he didn't want to walk THAT way, screamed cos he didn't want to see the ducks, screamed cos he didn't want to get off the swing, screamed cos he didn't want to get off the slide/climbing frame thingy and then screamed because he didn't want to go back in the car. 😭 I wanted to scream by that point too!
DH has a tendency to walk away (very quickly) with DD in the pram and leave me with DS having a meltdown! He did have to take over and pick DS up at the end to carry him to the car as it was too far for me to carry him on my own (he's big and lanky now and freakishly strong at times). DS at 3 is a nightmare compared to any other age so far, where has my laid back boy gone? 😭Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Aw bless. Those tantrums are really tough to deal with.
Laughing at the bed thing where they all piled in. That used to happen to me. They just can't seem to stay away.
I'm sure the hedges will be fine.
Have a lovely day xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

Hi Nicnak, yes the tantrum days are the worst. 😭 DS was better today although still very emotional, he had a crying fit over his sock not sitting the way he wanted it to on his foot. 🤷♀️
I made leek and pototo soup and some cheese puffs to go with it for lunch today. That used up some leeks that had been in the freezer for a couple of months. I really need to use things up in there and do a proper meal plan.
The house is a riot as all I managed to do was cook, wash dishes, do the nappy wash and hang it out and wash DS's clothes. Tomorrow I need to hoover the living room and clean the bathrooms as well as get more washings done.
I can't seem to cook and keep the house clean and tidy at the same time - it's one or the other. DS was better today but still pretty much pretending he can't hear me when I'm telling him not to do things. 🤷♀️ DD is teething but is still a pretty happy girl, except when her brother hits her or takes whatever toy she's playing with away from her. She is starting to try and push back at him but obviously he is much bigger and stronger. I have to watch him like a hawk around her.
It's payday on Friday so I got my payslip emailed to me today, my wage is really low this month as have one week of SMP and the rest was made up with KIT days I've done at work. It was about £100 less than I was expecting even so. 😱
I realised that they haven't paid me for one of my KIT days so that explains it. I spoke to one of my managers and they said I didn't add my KIT day to the correct sheet when in the office so it didn't get sent to payroll but I'm pretty sure I did. 🤔 Anyway, whatever happened I'm not getting paid for that KIT day until next month now. 😭
So looks like we're pretty skint for the next 4 weeks and will probably end up back in the bl**dy O/D. At least next month's pay will be a lot better though as I'll have 3 KIT days and then 2 weeks of my normal shifts as I'm back at work properly from the start of August.
I asked my brother's gf if she wanted to bring the kids over this week so she's bringing them over tomorrow. DS will be so happy to see his cousins and have other children to play with. He really needs to go to nursery now as he's getting bored and lonely at home as DD is too wee to play with him. ☹️
We still haven't had a start date from the nursery but apparently they're hoping to get the information out at the end of the month. I just hope that the settling in days with DS don't clash with my working days. 🤞Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I think you'll find a massive change in your DS once he starts nursery, I know I did with my DS1 - he was a horror from the day after he turned 2 until about 3 weeks after he started nursery.
Sadly DS2 started his terrible twos when he was 18 months so didn't get much respite - not sure if I should've said that 🙊🤣
How annoying with the KIT day pay, so frustrating when things like this get messed up.
Also just re-read that last post - you've got LOADS done, while juggling 2 small children - don't be so hard on yourself! Xx3 -

Hi Dancing & Beanie, thanks for the support. 🤗 I feel like I'm going round in circles at times with the housework and someone always needing fed or changed.
Dancing, I'm glad to hear that nursery helped with DS1's behaviour, I honestly think a lot of DS's bad behaviour is frustration/boredom and loneliness. ☹️ He's been much worse since lockdown as well.
AAH don't say that about DS2!! 😂 I don't think I can cope with another stroppy child anytime soon. 😂 I have the feeling that DD will do a lot of things earlier than DS though as she has him to follow! DS is very much a child who has to see other kids doing things like climbing before he'll click that he can do it too so he didn't ever climb out of his cot or anything like that. DD on the other hand sees DS climbing up the side of her cot every morning! 😱Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I never stay on top of the house and have given up trying now.
The play date will be amazing. I'm letting DD have one with her friend today. They have been in school together and she's desperate to see her even though they were together on Friday.
Hopefully nursery will start again soon xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

Hi Nicnak, DS was very annoying towards his cousins today. 🤦♀️ I think he was so happy to have company but didn't seem to know how to play with the girls. One is almost 4 and the other is 5 so they were happy playing with his toys but he was just kind of hanging about wanting to be involved but not sure how to do it. 😭 He's much better with children who are a bit younger than him for some reason. He took to pushing the cousin nearest in age to him for attention. 😩
I feel like I should have helped him join in more but was trying to keep him from hitting and just generally being a pain. 😔 I was also trying to have a conversation with my brother's gf, not easy with kids running riot! It looked like a tornado had been through my living room with toys everywhere!
This morning I managed to clean the bathrooms and hoover the living room then wipe the kitchen worktops down. Nothing much else got done though.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780.
