😂 Nicnak, they're hard work to say the least. DH said today that his mum wants to come and visit in August at some point to "help" with the childcare. 🙄 I'm only working 5 days in August as have two weeks of annual leave and DS will be starting nursery so don't know what MIL thinks she'll be doing. 🤷♀️ Don't even know how she would get here but I can safely say I'm not looking forward to it. 😐
I took the kids to my mum's on Wednesday as DS was desperate to get out of the house! My aunt brought her DGD who is 2 down and DS had a great time playing with her in the garden. My sister also dropped in with my twin nieces and her eldest son's gf, so it was quite busy.
DH put up the curtain pole and curtains I bought for the living room and they look pretty good, they are a sort of petrol blue but with a bit more green. We just needed a bit more coverage of the window as only had blinds and it gets so blustery up here.
Had to go through DD's clothes again yesterday and take the stuff that's too small out, most of it will be donated but will keep a few wee things. I have a storage bag each for DS & DD's wee clothes that I want to keep/make into a memory quilt or cushion. I also got the bigger sized clothes out that had been stored for DD, she only really needs a few vests, some leggings, pjs and possibly a few dresses.
DS has shot up and all of his joggers are too short on him, so I'll need to buy some soon. A lot of his t-shirts seem to be very short in the body all of a sudden too, so will need to get more of those. I had bought some smarter trousers in age 3-4 a while ago and put them away so at least he has some trousers that aren't like pedal pushers on him. 😂
I ordered some clothes for my nieces' birthdays (3 of them have birthdays in the next two months). For the older girls I've just ordered a t-shirt each in case they don't like them, I know one twin is very fussy about her clothes and the other isn't so bothered. For the younger niece I ordered a t-shirt, a long sleeved top and a pair of leggings. I think I have some wee toys/books in my present stash that will do the rest of her present. I'm going to get the older girls a selection of skincare and hair things too.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I remember the days when DS seemed to grow out of clothes & shoes overnight!!

Hi Beanie & Nicnak, yes DS seems to have grown really suddenly and after all his clothes fitting quite well for ages, now they're too wee. He looks ridiculously tall next to my cousin's DD who has just turned 2 and he is the same height as my niece who is nearly 4. 😮 Age 3-4 trousers are still too long in the leg for him but age 2-3 are now very short!
I'm looking at getting DS a new car seat and moving DD from her infant one to DS's current one. It's one that spins so she can still be rear facing. We don't have DS rear facing because he's got such big long legs, he really wouldn't have anywhere to put them. I'm looking at getting a sort of big booster seat that has the back and sides and is still isofix but you use the normal car seat belt to secure the child in. I just need to check that DS is tall enough but think he probably is.
I took DS & DD to my aunt's today as she was having a wee party in the garden for her DGD who has just turned 2. DS & the birthday girl just love each other and play so nicely together. 💕 He calls her the wrong name (I keep telling him the right name, he nods and says the name he's decided on. 😂 🤷♀️) and she calls him "the boy", but they get on great. 😂
I don't think I've mentioned that I'm going to be a great aunt at the start of next year, have I? 😱 My big nephew and his gf are having a baby, mind you being a great aunt in my mid 30s is better than my sister being a gran in her 30s. 😂 She is horrified at the thought of being called gran and says she'd rather the kid just called her by her name. 😂
After I got over the shock I started internally listing all the baby things I can pap onto donate to my nephew when I don't need them anymore. 🙌 They are already going to take my moses basket and stand and my sister is taking the infant car seat once DD is out of it.
Hopefully I can convince them to take some other things once DD has grown out of them, like the activity mat and things like that. Anything they don't want will be donated, we got a few things from friends, so many baby things are barely used as you only need them for a few months.

In bad news my MIL has already booked her flights and is descending on us mid-August. She's staying for 4 nights. 😭 Thankfully I'm working 2 early shifts whilst she's here so will get a bit of a break from her.
I said to DH that she can make herself useful by watching the kids and we can paint behind the fridge. That sounds weird so I'll explain. 😂 When we moved in we had a built in fridge freezer - the cabinet was attached to the wall and when we replaced the fridge freezer 3 YEARS ago, we took it off as didn't want another built in one.
The blinking builders hadn't bothered getting the walls painted before attaching the cabinet so it had been painted around and we've had a big unpainted area of wall behind our fridge since then. It looks hideous as the new fridge freezer isn't as tall and doesn't cover as much wall as the built in one.
DH keeps saying he'll paint it and never does (that old story again). So I've decided we're doing it while MIL is here so at least we get something good out of her visit.
Oh and DH says I've to stop moaning about his mum coming to stay. 🙄 I said, well you wouldn't like it if my mum was coming to stay with us for several days, several times a year. Ok this time is only the second time this year but that's only due to covid, we'd probably be on our 4th visit by now otherwise. Think MIL's been giving DH the boohoo poor me I never see my grandchildren and they won't know who I am stuff again. She's done this ever since DS was born. 🙄
I've not even brought it up with my mum because she'll tell me to stop being mean. 😂 I just hate having people staying in my house, even if I like them I find it difficult, so when it's the outlaws it's ten times harder. 🤷♀️Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. You may find that Covid stops her visiting.......!
Btw I`m a granny aka Gran Jan and I can see it from both sides. My friend`s daughter has just had her first baby and her in laws descend on her without invitation. It doesn`t help that her OH is an only child. Friend`s daughter wants her husband to discourage the unsolicited visits and he doesn`t want to...all very stressful.

Yikes Jan. I can imagine that to be stressful.
Good ideas to give your nephew those bits. A great way to reuse things and clear your house too! XSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
