Hi Beanie & Nicnak.
Beanie, DS doesn't have his own bit of garden, that's a good idea, will try and have a think where he could have it, even a few wee pots would probably keep him happy. 😊 He has a toy wheelbarrow, watering can and some tools already. How sweet about keeping your DS's wee watering can. 💓
Nicnak, I've been very lucky in that both DS & DD are mostly very good sleepers and when they wake up early in the morning they are generally happy to chat to themselves in bed. 😊 It's just as well since neither DH nor I are morning people at all. 😱
I went out to Mr M's yesterday and got a few things we hadn't been able to get from Mr A or had run out of since that shop. There was a queue at 8:45am which normally doesn't happen but I think it's always busier on Fridays plus in the nice weather people want to get out early for things or buy extra for a BBQ etc.
There was no such thing as social distancing inside the shop. 🤷♀️ There's only so much you can do when the aisles are so narrow as well. I picked up some stuff for my mum whilst I was there to save her going out and then dropped it off and we had a socially distanced chat in the garden. The sun was burning me after about 10 minutes and I had to sit in the shade.
The house was so hot all day yesterday even with fans and curtains/blinds closed when the sun was shining in. Poor DD's room was red hot and she really struggled to get to sleep. She only had a nappy and a romper suit on but I think we might be able to just go with a nappy tonight. 🤔 She has a fan in her room and we just left it on all night, DS too. I just swapped DS's duvet out for a flat sheet and he had his shorts and t-shirt pjs on.
We had all the windows open in our bedroom but there was no air at all and we could hear people sitting out in their gardens. Someone's kids were out shouting and screaming after midnight. 😱 I was in my bed and felt like shouting out the window and telling them to shut up and get in. 🤣
It's been pretty much the same heat wise today, it's great for getting the washing dried and put away and the garden is loving it too but we're not good in the heat - not used to it! DH is very grumpy because the heat makes him feel ill. DS was out for a while but then wanted to come back inside, so he must take after us. 😂 We like going warm places abroad but can't cope with it here. 🤷♀️
DH is going to try and make a victoria sponge for DS's birthday which is only a few days away. I feel a bit sad that my family can't come over and have a wee party with DS as he'd have loved that but he's too young to understand social distancing and would just be running up to everyone. ☹️
Got up and did some yoga plus a bit of cardio/toning this morning - the cardio/toning videos are only 7 minutes long, so even I can manage them. I probably wasn't putting enough effort in though as I hate doing it. 😂 I enjoyed my yoga though.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. You're amazing doing anything exercise wise in this weather. I can barely get up in the garden without breaking out in a sweat.
My DD is sleeping naked some nights. She goes to bed in shorts or a nightie but strips off as soon as she's in bed.

Hi Nicnak, I'm only exercising every 2 days, so i feel like I have to do it! I really need to stop eating so much junk and cut down a bit on portion sizes but don't feel ready to that yet as still using food as a comfort I think. 😐
It was a bit cooler last night, so DD managed to get to sleep a lot easier. We'd also given both kids a cool bath before bed which might have helped. Both of them woke up crying at one point but DH got up and dealt with them both which was a nice change for me!
We had another family quiz last night which was nice, again my sister didn't bother joining us. 🙄 Think she was busy socialising again, she posted a photo on fakebook where there was no social distancing going on at all. 🤷♀️
It's really annoying as we're keeping the kids away from everyone and can't have a wee party for DS for his birthday or anything and there are so many people that have just given up even trying to socially distance etc. I'd love for the rules to be relaxed enough that we could have my mum and the rest of the family in the garden with the kids and no social distancing but until then the kids can't see anyone as DS will just run up to them all. ☹️
Going to get the presents wrapped for DS and get his toy kitchen and shopping trolley built tonight once the kids are in bed. Need to blow up balloons and stuff too, DH is going to try and bake a cake this afternoon as well. 😊
DH has been very down and clingy the last few days, he's nearly as moody as DS atm. 🤷♀️ I wonder where DS gets it from. 🤔 😂 Can't wait until the pubs reopen and he can go out with his friends and give me peace.
Still waiting to hear back from work regarding my KIT days, they are so disorganised. 🙄

Must be very frustrating for you not to have your family over for a little birthday party. Do you not think you would be safe enough to have even just your mum in the garden. What a treat that would be for DS. I know we are supposed to socially distance still outside but Ds has been pretty isolated all this time so not much chance of him having the virus. If you were all really careful about hand washing and not touching your face I can't see too much of a problem. Is it your mum or the children that you are concerned about?2

Hi Moneywhizz,
I think it's a mixture of things, my mum is a nurse, so I know she worries about passing the virus to the kids on the off chance she picks it up at work, although she doesn't work on the covid wards.
I think DH is really paranoid about it as well, he's really not up for taking the kids anywhere. I would love for my mum to see DS, he's missing her so much. ☹️ DH is a key worker as well so he's been out working a lot of the time too. None of us have ever had any symptoms and my mum had a negative test through work when she had a slightly high temperature a month ago but has been fine apart from that.
It's probably worth a talk with DH to see if he'll be persuaded. My mum is working night shift tonight so he might worry about that. I think you're right and my mum would be delighted to see both DS & DD.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. It's tricky isn't it? My Mum and MIL are desperate to come round next week and while I think DS1 would observe distancing with a few reminders there's no way DS2 would be able to with only being 21 months old. Would be lovely for your DS1 with it being his birthday though, hope you manage to work something out.2

It is so hard. I am more worried about giving it to my parents than anything with me going to work and DD as well. xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

Hi all, thanks for dropping in. I really feel like just taking DS to see my mum but DH would not be happy at all. 😐
DS went crazy today after I took him for a short drive in the car, he was screaming and crying for his gran when we got back home and refusing to get out of the car. I really think it's starting to affect him badly now. ☹️ It seems better just not to take him out anywhere near my mum's house as it must be getting his hopes up. It's difficult though as she only lives a 5 minute drive away.
I managed another 20 mins of yoga and a 7 min cardio tone workout the other day, will need to do more tomorrow. It's a lot cloudier today but more humid, so feeling quite yucky. DD is just stripped down to her nappy as it's so warm.
I also finally managed to (slightly) tidy the spare room which is a total hell hole (and has been since we got the garage conversion done). DH moved all his stuff in there and has been (very very) slowly moving it out. The whole king size bed was just a mound of stuff and anytime I asked about it I got snapped at and told that he was dealing with it. 👀
Anyway he had finally moved enough stuff so that I could tidy it a bit and we can actually see part of the bed and have a path around it to the window. There's still a lot of stuff to find homes for but at least now it feels like we're getting somewhere with it.
I still have a full 3D printer sitting on the guest bed though. 🙄 🤷♀️ DH has agreed it will move downstairs but he has to build some sort of special table/cage thing for it first. God knows when that will happen. 🤷♀️
Work have got back to me and have agreed to all the dates I want to work as KIT days. I'm going to work 2 half days on my first two shifts and then look at working full shifts for the last 3. As I asked to work on DH's rest days I don't need to worry about childcare for a while too. 😅
We have really struggled with me being on SMP and not qualifying for child benefit anymore (DH earns too much by being just over the limit), all our savings accounts for things like cars, cats, birthdays etc have been emptied and it's not a good place to be in.
I still have the start of my emergency fund (£250) and I think that will be the next thing to go. ☹️ The only savings not touched (and won't be) have been the kids' savings, which is all money that's been gifted to them.
Our finances are such a mess again now that it's shameful. We just never seem to learn. 😤 And we have a million things we want to do in the house but can't afford to. Luckily most are wants rather than needs though.
DH wants to buy a new toaster but it costs nearly £80. For a toaster. 😱 And it's only a 2 slice one. 😐 We currently have a 4 slice toaster and one of the slots is dodgy so we can't use it but I said no to the almost £80 toaster and said we can save up for it with survey vouchers. DH has listened for now, no doubt it's on his wish list as soon as I start getting a decent wage when I'm back at work though.
We're meant to be hearing about DS's nursery placement by the end of this week, fingers crossed he gets a place in the school nursery nearby which was our first choice. He should start in August but as the schools are meant to be going back part time I take it that the nurseries will be the same.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
