Hopefully the toys will help to keep his mind going over the next few days. It's so difficult still for them to understand.

My DGS had a toy kitchen and shopping trolley for his recent birthday too. Hope he gets to see your mum soon.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Hi all, I think toy kitchens are very popular with all small children because they just want to copy the adults. 😊 DS keeps heading straight downstairs in the morning to start playing with his, so I think he likes it. 👍
I finally got round to ordering a frame for my degree certificate after finding it in the very messy spare room, I graduated about 14 years ago and have never got round to it because it was an awkward size (A3). I also had a £10 am@zon voucher so only paid £1.99 "real" money so I was pleased with that. Hopefully it arrives in one piece and the certificate fits in it ok. I then have to find somewhere to put it though. 🤔
DH is back at work today after his annual leave so will just be having a quiet day with the kids (well as quiet as an 8 month old and 3 year old get 😱). Need to try and do some housework as the place is a tip and my living room just looks like a toy shop. 🤷♀️
I took the kids down to see my mum yesterday, DS was a bit shy at first but then wouldn't leave her side. There was no way social distancing was going to work! He was on her knee and wouldn't be moved, poor wee soul was cuddled up with his eyes brimming full of tears. 😭 He was so happy the whole time we were there, I'm glad I took him. DD was a bit strange with my mum and didn't want me out of her sight but that's probably a combination of her age & being with only me and DH for the last few months. Her separation anxiety is definitely kicking in though, poor girl.
Can't remember if I mentioned that DS got his nursery place in the nursery we wanted, which is good as it's attached to the school he'll be going to. He is only getting afternoons though instead of full days due to the covid situation.
This August was when all the 3 & 4 year olds were meant to be getting their hours doubled, so he should have been getting full days (9am-3pm) Monday-Friday during term time. It's all being delayed now though. I think I would have preferred 2.5 days rather than 5 afternoons a week (pretty much 3 hours a day) but anything is better than nothing I suppose and he will love it. My friend's DS has a place in another nursery and he will be doing 2.5 days, so they all seem to be doing something different. 🤷♀️
Have done 10 minutes cardio tone and 20 mins of yoga this morning and have one washing done and the nappy wash on atm. Need to hang them out once the washing has finished. Hoping to get some hoovering done, kitchen worktops and floor cleaned and possibly the bathrooms done but just depends on the kids. DS has been very emotional this morning and keeps bursting into tears.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I'm glad they got to see your mum again, I haven't seen my GKs since March. Good news DS got his nursery place. My DGD has been emotional today too and I had to facetime her earlier as she is missing me - and the dog I suspect as she kept asking to see her 🤣
I'm impressed at how much you get done despite having the little ones 😁

Ah bless your little DS and so glad he got to see your mum. My granddaughters are 4 and 2 and we started seeing them a few weeks ago when childminders started working again. It has been lovely to see them again and we look after them three mornings a week so my daughter and her husband get some uninterrupted time to work at home. Like your mum we only live a few minutes away. We are all isolating so cannot see the issue in seeing each other if none of us are seeing anyone else. Both DD and I get shopping delivered so not even going to the shops. I guess it is because your mum is a nurse that your DH was concerned? I just think we are going to have to find a way to live with this virus as it won't go away completely.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Hi SA & enthusiasticsaver. 👋
Aww SA, sorry to hear your DGD has been a bit upset too, it's so hard for them. My DS was the same - asking after my mum's dog and cat every time they had a video call. 😂 They always get listed by name when he's talking about my mum as well, he just loves them.
I feel like I never get much done to be honest, as I usually have to do it all again the next day, it feels like I'm on a hamster wheel sometimes and never actually getting anywhere! I'm glad it sounds as though I get stuff done though. 👍
Thanks enthusiasticsaver, yes I think DH was a bit concerned as my mum is working in the hospital but also because he feels like we're "breaking the rules" by seeing her. I know she would never risk passing anything on to the kids, she wouldn't see us if she had any symptoms. We haven't seen anyone else unless socially distanced but DH is also a key worker, so he could potentially be exposed every time he has to go to work and I still have to do some shopping as we can't always get everything in our online delivery.
I'm also going back to work next month, so it makes sense for us to start seeing my mum again. DD needs to get used to being with her as well, as my mum will be helping us with childcare on a regular basis after that. I'm hoping her separation anxiety will have eased a bit by then too. Most of the time DH will be looking after the kids when I'm working but there will be a few days every month where my mum will be filling gaps for us.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I managed to get the kitchen worktops and floor cleaned, hoovered the living room and hung out the washing and the nappy wash.
I also made rice pudding in the slow cooker to use up some whole milk (bought for DD's porridge in the morning but there was too much and it was going to go off) and stuck a loaf on in the breadmaker. DS loves toast and thinks having toast and jam is a proper treat so I don't like to run out of bread! Later I made up some raspberry jelly in some wee jelly moulds for DS as he likes it as a snack now and again.
I made tuna and cucumber mini wraps for lunch for DS & I, DH was home from work by that point but isn't very keen on tuna so he didn't get any. The cats were being right pests because they wanted the tuna and DS was kicking off about something. I got distracted and Big Cat stuck his face in the bowl of tuna. 😩 The patio door was open so I'm pretty sure allll of my neighbours heard me screeching like a demented woman at the cat to GET AWAY FROM THAT YOU BLOODY BAD CAT! BAD CAT! etc. 👀 Then Big Cat had the cheek to try and mooch more tuna off me again, I told him to go away as I wasn't talking to him. 🤣
I just felt like I was running about like a lunatic all day and DS was very emotional and DD was grumpy which isn't like her, so think she's teething or otherwise not feeling great. So it was a difficult day.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Aww, honestly Beanie, I turned my back for 10 seconds and he had his face right in that bowl! They seem to go mad as soon as I start opening the tin!
Old Cat is the same when there is any type of meat cooking or if DH is making scrambled eggs or pancakes - Old Cat loves them all! 😂 He also comes running when he hears me making hot chocolate, I don't know how he knows but he does. 🤷♀️ He loves the hot chocolate (caught him licking the cup after I'd finished once) but his favourite bit is the mini marshmallows! So both cats get one mini marshmallow each as Big Cat wants one of everything Old Cat gets. 😂 They are so weird. 🤷♀️Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
