what a shame for your DS. He is obviously very attached to your mum and of course is too young to grasp why he can't see her. My grandson is 4 and talks about the virus but he still doesn't understand why I am not allowed in his house. Anytime I see him in the garden or on FaceTime he starts pleading with me to come to his house to play. I am sure we are damaging our poor children with all these restrictions. Can you have a proper discussion with your DH about his reasons for not wanting DS to see your mum. I can understand that Ds won't observe the social distancing but this could go on for months. If you read the guidance for Phase 1, 2 and 3 it allows more meeting up, even indoors, but still talks about physical distancing. Do you think your OH intends to keep the kids away from your mum until social distancing is no longer required? This could be when a vaccine is found which could be next year or even later. I am sure both you and your mum would be taking as many precautions as possible to minimise any risk. I am seeing my grandchildren now and will be watching them when my son in law returns to work at the end of June, but we are just as careful as possible and make sure hand hygiene is practised regularly. I hope you can talk him round.2

I agree with moneywhizz. It seems to be really impacting him and taking precautions just to see her so he can interact even if you agree that he stays in the car and she says hi through the window.
My spare room is a mess as we have the decorator due this week and there was just no point putting it all back in to take it out again after the plasterer had been. I can't see the bed either and that is now really annoying me! Hopefully, I can get it all sorted by the weekend. x

Hi all, thanks for popping by again.
I have spoken to DH and he has agreed that I can take the kids to see my mum next week as he can see how down DS is getting.
I'm so relieved about this as I think it will be the best thing for both DS & my mum, they adore each other and are used to spending a lot of time together, so it's been hard for them to be apart for so long. We will just have to be careful about hygiene and obviously not meet if there are any symptoms on either side.
Thanks Honeysuckle, I will have a look for the book you mentioned. I haven't spoken to DS at all about the virus to be honest, I just don't know if he will understand.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. My son's nursery shared a reading of 'While We Can't Hug' by Eoin Mclaughlin from UTube that he enjoyed and it helped with his understanding of the situation x1

That's good news about your DS and mum. I am sure they will both love it. xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

That's great news. Ds will be so happy to see her and I imagine your mum will be over the moon. I hated not being able to see my grandchildren, it was the worst thing about lockdown. Hopefully it will help with DS's behaviour too. He has probably been frustrated but not able to express what was wrong.1

Hi again Dancing, Nicnak & Moneywhizz.
Thanks for the utube suggestion Dancing. 👍
Yes I'm sure DS will be delighted to see my mum again, he asks every day if we will be seeing her. ☹️ Hoping to go down on Sunday but need to check when my mum is working.
DS seemed to have a nice day on his birthday earlier in the week, when I said to him it was his birthday he was all excited about balloons and cake. 😂 When I said he had presents he very confidently nodded and said "And a Christmas tree!" 🤷♀️ 😂 I think he associates presents with Christmas. 😊
DH made a victoria sponge for DS's birthday cake and it was really nice. 😊 DS had a tantrum when we sang Happy Birthday and slammed his hand down on the (lit) candle on the top of the cake. 😱 He wanted us to stop singing so he could have a bit of cake. Of course he got a wee burn on his hand by doing that so there was a few tears whilst we ran it under the tap. Luckily it wasn't a serious burn - he was so quick we couldn't stop him and had no idea he would do something like that. 😱
He got a toy kitchen, shopping trolley, wooden play food and some monster trucks and he was very happy with them. I really stopped myself from buying as much as I wanted to for him because he doesn't need it and it would just overwhelm him.
He has been playing happily with the kitchen and other presents over the past few days. My brother and his GF bought him some small trucks, diggers and a plane and he loved them too.
I have repotted some of my courgettes and cucumbers but need to move the rest into bigger pots, as well as the chillies. Will need to get more compost over the weekend. We already have 2 courgettes growing. 🥳
I was going to go out this morning to get compost and visit Mr L's then B&M but I didn't go as we didn't really need anything except the compost and it's not desperate as we still have 3 quarters of a bag left. I would just have ended up spending money for the sake of it so better just to stay at home.
I did a 20 minute walking video, a 7 minute cardio tone and 25 mins of yoga instead. I don't know if it's making any difference to my fitness or weight tbh. I should probably take some measurements as I'm not sure how accurate my scales are.
I cashed out £5 from vypr and am still waiting on £20 from another survey site. I paid the £5 off my 0% BT. I think the £20 will go off our biggest loan when it arrives.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
