I'm also just taking each day as it arrives, and that seems to be working. I am planning jobs in for the next week as well to give me 'things to do'.
We have had lovely weather which has helped us being in the garden a lot.
My mum sounds very similar to your MIL. She goes over and over something until you agree with her, which is what I used to do a lot. My mum's favourite phrase to me is 'you need to'... I have taken to the reply 'I don't need to do anything'. It is really difficult for her to accept that I am no longer just saying 'ok'. I'll do my own thing now and tell her so.

    Have a lovely weekend. x

Just caught up.  I think everyone is having up and down days right now, we're all going through something that we've never experienced before in our lifetimes.  I find it easier to cope with if I keep busy and don't think about things too much.  Still working is helping as it's a bit of normality for me.  I think the alcohol before 10am must be a Scottish law as you can buy before 10am in England.  I remember a friend trying to buy wine early in the morning for a birthday present for someone on her way to work and she was refused but I think it was about 6am. I don't know if it's still the case but you didn't used to be able to buy alcohol on Good Friday until 12 noon - when I first left school I worked in a shop and we used to have to cover up it up with sheets until 12 on Good Friday - you weren't even allowed to look at it 🤣

    Enjoy your weekend xx

    Hi Nicnak & SA.

Nicnak, yeah I think MIL sometimes thinks if she goes on enough we will change our minds. DH probably just used to agree with her for a quiet life, he is an only child and his parents have always been quite controlling. He's gradually stopped most of their bad behaviour but it's taken years, moving 300+ plus miles away & not speaking to them for a year or two at one point before they took him seriously. They still try it on a lot though and are very vocal (to him) when they think he's doing something wrong (i.e. not the way they would do it) but strangely enough they don't say these things to me. 🤔

SA, yes I think it is a Scottish licensing law, it's a right pain at times. 😂 @ not being able to even look at the booze before 12 on Good Friday.

Today I got the bed stripped and sheets out on the line plus another washing too. I planted up the rest of my seed potatoes too, so MIL can rest easy. 😂. My rhubarb crown and the seeds I ordered last month finally arrived today. I had emailed them on Thursday asking where my order was and lo and behold it was dispatched the next day - I think they forgot me. 👀

So I finished prepping the bed for the rhubarb by mixing in more compost and some blood, fish & bone mix then put the crown in. I hope I put it the ground the right way round. 🤷‍♀️ 😯 Fingers crossed it's ok, it looked quite dead when it arrived.

Have sown some lemon crystal cucumber seeds and some padron chillies too. Hope they germinate. Potted another 2 cucumber seedlings, have 6 now in pots and still only 1 courgette.

It was nice to get out into the garden, DS was running around and screaming every time he saw a bee. 😂 He kept shouting "Don't touch the bee" and running away crying. 🤷‍♀️ I just told him not to touch, it won't hurt him and it's just busy doing its job. It was lovely and sunny but the wind was still bitter. DH kept DD inside with him and they made cookies. 😊

  • I’m trying  crystal lemon cucumbers this year, never grown them before. Something has munched a couple of them though. I looked for signs of snails but didn’t spot any.  It’s always good when seeds arrive in the post 🙂.

    Hi Honeysuckle & Beanie.

I've never tried the crystal lemon cucumbers either Honeysuckle, just saw them and thought they looked a bit different. Beanie - they are yellow and round, so should be interesting, hopefully my seeds will germinate. 🤞 I was quite excited to get them & my padrons sown, haven't had much luck with padrons in the past so hoping they'll take this year.

So far today I've managed to have a shower, wash a load of nappies and hang them out to dry, wipe all the kitchen worktops down, clean the kitchen floor, clean out the handheld dyson & its filter, put the big dyson back together with its filters and hoovered the living room.

I let DS loose in the garden whilst I hung the nappies out and opened his sand pit up, so there is sand allll over the garden and patio but he had good fun. It's lovely and sunny again today and a bit warmer than yesterday which is good. 😊

DD is enjoying her weaning, she loves mashed banana and the various types of baby porridge we've given her (normal/banana/fruity multigrain) and creamed rice pudding and chocolate pudding. She's also tried tiny bits of cheese, noodles, spaghetti and cucumber and has enjoyed them all. She's still not managing to pick anything up but it's very early days.

I've been eyeing up some new curtains for my patio doors as have had the same ones since we moved in 6 years ago. I think I'm just sick of looking at them because we're stuck in the house. 😂 I currently have blue and am considering changing to mustard. Will see how things are once we are paid, I might have changed my mind by then anyway.

I hate hate my table in the conservatory.
A friend painted it at couple of years ago & now the paint is coming off.
Not helped by the cats I have to say who jump on it & scratch it with their claws!!
& constantly knock the lamp of said table!!
