I've put the potatoes in already. I have also put some veg in to see what I get out. I haven't followed the sow in a pot first so will see what happens this year. My strawberries have scaled back naturally for some reason. I didn't look after the garden much last year so perhaps that is why.
Perhaps just arrange for one morning a week? That way you both know which day it is? x

Hi again Nicnak & Beanie, yes one morning a week should be do-able, although it will require a bit of juggling once he is back at work as he's a shift worker. Don't worry Beanie, I'll get him telt. 😂

Nicnak, I've never done well with strawberries for some reason but have only ever tried growing them in containers, maybe a raised bed of some type would be better. 🤔 All of my fruit & veg growing is in pots/bags apart from the raspberries as we don't have the room for proper beds in the garden.

Hi Honeysuckle, I've never grown linaria before but saw the seeds and thought it looked pretty. Hoping to use it in my pots and hanging baskets with the lobelia I'm growing.

Yesterday I still didn't get much done, I did more washing and made a bacon, onion and mushroom quiche for dinner (with ready rolled pastry so a bit of a cheat 🙊) with roasties and honey roasted carrots as we still have loads of carrots to use up.

We had a use it up lunch of the last of the carrot and lentil soup from last week and a couple of left over baked potatoes. DS wasn't interested in the soup although he enjoyed it last time. 🤷‍♀️

Today I got up and out to get to Mr M's fairy early, got there about half 8 and there was no queue and no one even at the door to stop people coming in. 🤷‍♀️ Again people really not giving a toss about the concept of social distancing and near enough walking into me most of the time. 👀 Still convinced that a supermarket is the most likely place I'll catch it at this rate.

Still little to no flour - saw about 6 packets of SR on the shelf which is actually an improvement(!!) - and no yeast either. I also couldn't get any olive oil - the only stuff they had left was the really pricey stuff at £6 for a tiny bottle and I didn't want it that much!!

I also had a brain freeze and tried to buy beer before 10am. 😂 Poor lady on the till looked really confused and so was I and then had an oh duh moment. At least she was nice about it, I kept saying oh sorry I totally forgot what time it was - must have looked like an alcoholic trying to buy beer at 9:15am.🤣

This afternoon I managed to get the charlotte seed potatoes into their bags out in the garden but will have to do the other variety tomorrow. DH managed to cut the grass but his back was giving him grief afterwards so he probably shouldn't have.

It was sunny again but still had a nip in the air. DD fell asleep in her chair in the garden and DS just had constant tantrums. He didn't want to go into the garden (despite asking to go out into the garden all morning), then he wanted to play in the greenhouse and was most displeased when I chucked him out, then he ran away from the lawnmower as he's scared of it and tripped and hit his head. Cue much screaming. 😭 He was....challenging today to say the least. Poor boy keeps asking to go out in the car and can't understand why he can't. ☹️

Can't believe that some supermarkets are still not following the guidance. Glad you got what you needed (apart from the beer part!). I had no idea you couldn't buy it before 10am. I must have never tried. x

I think they should relax the licencing laws in the short term.

    Hi Nicnak and Beanie.

The security guard was at the door again when I was leaving, just odd that no one was there at all when I went in. I really don't like going to the supermarket, some of the aisles are too narrow and there are too many people in at once but we just can't get everything we need without physically going there.

I'm surprised that they haven't relaxed the licensing laws - I think what threw me was that the booze aisles weren't cordoned off like they usually are in the mornings so I forgot it was before 10am! Oops.

DH took DD upstairs to put her to bed earlier and she just wasn't having it. She was crying and carrying on and just wouldn't settle. I went up to run DS's bath and could hear that she was still awake. I went in and took her from DH as she was crying - she stopped, looked at me, smiled and then threw her head back and laughed. 😳 😂

DH is convinced that she hates him now. 😂 I did say to him she only did it because she knew I was still in the house, DS can still be the same at bedtime - if he sees or hears me he'll scream and cry wanting me but if he doesn't see or hear me he settles fine for DH.

DD is also going through her wee anxious phase and crying at anyone who isn't me or DH, even on video calls. She always does it to my MIL (who isn't pleased at all and says it's because she doesn't know her because they live so far away 🙄) but she's been doing it to my mum as well and until recently she's seen her every week since she was born. It's just her age. 🤷‍♀️

Apparently MIL has been nagging DH for the last week asking why our seed potatoes hadn't been planted yet. He had to tell her to stop going on about it. 😂 She gets obsessed with the most stupid things sometimes. 🙄 😆

  • Had no idea about the 10 am rule in supermarkets!

It must be so tricky for little ones to understand. My youngest DS who is pre-school age keeps asking if we can go somewhere each morning. I can only offer him the allotment!

I think you have more to worry about than seeded potato’s to be honest😂
