Well hello there my lovelies
Hi to all the new posters - lovely to hear what you are up to.
FVD - that's funny about missing your stop - good work on the YS items. :rotfl:
Lovely quiet early morning here... Well, I say that but the dog has just started snoring!! :rotfl:
I'm continuing with knitting my socks - slow going! It's taking me 15 min per row!! Doing toe up two at a time and following a graph pattern thingy and I haven't knitted in ages so it's all my own fault - in hindsight I should've stuck to plain ones for my first attempt!! Thanks CCL for the other online tip off.
I need to sort YNAB this morning as I'm not 100% sure where all our money is going and it's not a nice feeling...
Going shopping later - need to meal plan and get lunches in for the week ahead.
Checked my mortgage and loan and they have come down by £693.66 and £379.72 in the last month so it's all good in the hood.
Also last finance payment came out for my car - paid off with balance transfer so not actually paid off, but happy that I didn't get another finance deal and I now own the car rather than it being owned by the finance company so that feels a bit better.
Catch up soon everyone.0 -
phew just did meal plan for the next week (B/L/Ds) and as long as I make some wraps, a pizza and some cinnamon buns we are still good for another week (I totally have to be quite inventive as otherwise oh will start complaining there's no food!) So far this year I have spent £12 on groceries, still enough fruit, veg and meat items in the freezer
Only thing I will need to get in the next week will be another mountain of milk, some bread (I have set myself a challenge of not paying more than 45p for a loaf of bread this year!) and a fruit top up towards the end of the week

I stupidly missed my stop on the train tonight (I was struggling with the sudoku :rotfl: ) and had to get the train back the other way but...
It meant I arrived at the little Mr T just as they were doing reductions and before grabby man and Mrs 'arrive early and hide the best stuff at the back' and I managed to get...
8 X packs of raspberries @ 15p each
1 X pack of cherries @ 20p
2 X pots of guacamole @ 15p each
4 X tuna pasta bakes @ 25p each
1 X pack of mashed potato @ 15p
2 X packs of two custard slices @ 12p each
A total spend of £3.09 saving myself £27.81 :T
I had guacamole with own brand tortilla chips for dinner (the teens were out tonight so I will cook tonight's planned meal tomorrow) followed by a custard slice and a pack of raspberries. I'll have the rest of the guacamole for lunch tomorrow and everything else (apart from the cherries) is in the freezer. I must miss my stop more often :rotfl:
That is an impressive haul!!! I could do with some of your raspberries myself as I have meringues to use up and am planning an Eton mess." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

It is possible. I have not paid more than 20p per loaf, and have quite a few 10p loaves still in the freezer. Do you get chance to YS shop much?" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

because I went to fortnightly shopping, it was pot luck really. But I've decided to change my grocery ways this yearI'm going to do a monthly shop for bigger/unlikely to be reduced items and base most meals around ys items. Our local Sainos usually do good reductions around 3 on a sunday so I am aiming to nip in there and also if passing a sm pop in to see what's to be had
fortnightly shopping did reduce our gc bill to £180pm but I think I can do better!

Morning everyone. Lovely to hear what you are up to – I pick up so many useful tips and inspiration from your daily routines
Woke with a banging headache but it is clearing now. Most probably a bit of stress release and a bit of dehydration I think. Took some pills, drank a lot of water (well, elderflower cordial, but it always reminds me of spa visits so I figure it would be both hydrating and relaxing!).
Was just catching up on the thread when heard the bin lorry down the end of the road. Grateful to you all that I was awake and alert enough to pop out and put mine out. Feels so nice when stuff is removed, doesn’t it! Weird! These bins had the decorating detritus plus some broken decluttered stuff. Also had just enough time to break up a couple of beyond repair picture frames to add into the bin, which has been on my to do list for ages.
This is my weekend DFW list- · Relish the quiet weekend – often I fill time without DD with things that cost, either in fuel, time or cash and that I am just really doing to kill time until she comes back. NY resolution to cherish these times if I can instead. Have early empty nest syndrome I think!
- · Food cupboard inventory and make at least one nice meal for now/freezer. Am out at friends for lunch and dinner today. Have been much inspired and made hungry by Greying Pilgrims diary. With DD away realised I don't need to buy meat/fish anymore as she is only one who eats them. Going to try to embrace being a veggie household as currently freezer full of enough food for her visits home for about 3 months! Need to refill it with things I enjoy instead.
- · Expenses for work. Just got to wade through them.
- · WM was on overnight and have resisted TD which would mean I could tick it all off as done. I don’t need anything for a few days, there is time for it to dry on the airer. Where it now is!
- · Text Builder about a couple of snags. I could fix them myself but would mean buying a few supplies and he will be neater. Plus, I can get a quote from him for the remaining work, which at least will mean I know what my target is.
- · Tackle the ironing [STRIKE]mound mountain [/STRIKE]Everest that is in the spare room, to enable me to work out what fits and what doesn’t, and complete the wardrobe clear out. I started over xmas so its only the things that are currently covering a whole double bed (!) to review. This will make next week at work much less stressful.
- · Keep looking for the jawbone charger. Have seen that a replacement one is £5 on amazon and am going to order it next week if this one really isn’t to be found in: car / suitcases that went back in loft / rucksack / coat pockets / desk / box of clutter stuff.
- · Also, in looking for above locate missing CC. I know it is in house somewhere and can’t return the jogging trousers until I can find it![STRIKE]
- · Look into weekday lodging as A1rbandb is pretty slow at the moment. This would mean having the heating on a bit more though I guess!
- · Free exercise – walking or work gym
- Move xmas stuff into loft - its been collecting near the hatch. Kind of glad it was as kept spotting extra bits but pretty certain its all there now!
- · Complete one of the big scary work projects that need doing in peace and quiet.
- · Re-pot xmas tree into bigger pot with compost we already have. I know zilch about gardening but figure its had a few days to adapt to being outside now, so hopefully its re-potting won’t be too stressful!

Morning everyone
We got discharged from the hospital at 5pm last night only to return to childrens outpatients 2 hours later as little man was so unsettled! Thankfully we've got baby calpol for him and he's a lot more settled now so we eventually got home about 11pm last night! My list for today will be:
- 2 loads of washing and tumble dry - Not been able to do any washing for a few days and the weather here is awful to!
- Pop round the corner to Boots, get new dummys for DS, a few went walkies in the hospital!
- B/L/D from home
- Check bank accounts
- Surveys while DS sleeps
- Not a NSD as need to pick up nappies and a few bits
Hope everyone is OK and have a lovely weekend xDebt free once - Back again | Current debt: £2479.50 - January 2025 | Make £2025 in 2025 #11 - £41/£20250 -
Morning all :coffee:
Been up and about for my PT session at 7 this morning, but still haven't quite managed to get going. I feel as though I might need to have a bit of a nap.
Doubt today will be a nsd as I am almost desperate for deodorant... and as usual we'll need milk, but I will try and keep shopping to the bare minimum as I've got plenty in the freezer and cupboards.
Today's list includes
:cheesy: check banking and PAD
:cheesy: daily housework jobs
:cheesy: dry as much washing on the radiators as I can
:cheesy: tutoring later
:cheesy: write Year 11 reports
:cheesy: sew up a baby dress I've knitted for a friend
:cheesy: get the kids to do their weekly jobs
:cheesy: box up and freeze my batch cooking
:cheesy: make time to rest and relax if I need toNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

honestly don't mean to scare you but my experience of kids leaving home has been very hard! Albeit our situation has been more extreme than most because of my daughter's mental health problem. But I was heart broken beyond belief for a long time (due to her illness we have had a fractured relationship for some time, but things are starting to improve). Now my adult children's lives are becoming more settled and we are easing into a new phase which I am grateful for beyond belief but I do at times miss so much those years when it was just the 3 of us facing the world. I assume this is a common feeling for most mothers?Deleted_User wrote: »[*]· Re-pot xmas tree into bigger pot with compost we already have. I was a novice over the last 18 months but really spent time learning about gardening and grew £360 worth of produce last year :money: you can do it it's not rocket scienceDF as at 30/12/16
