    Morning gang

Definitely need to go shopping today. Hopefully go on my own. ;) OH never complains about anything I buy but if he comes he always wants extra stuff. :rotfl:

Need to sort stuff for work tomorrow - how the heck are we going to get out of the house by 7.10?! This mainly consists of tidying the back bedroom, putting clothes away and continuing with getting through laundry mountain!
Sort pack lunches - leftovers, so that will be easy ;)
Breakfast for work is going to be overnight oats - no cooking required and can prep ahead of time.
Downloaded a book from Prime lending library
Put some things on my amazon wish list - a stop-me-spending strategy!!
I ordered some Weck jars for brekkies/lunches - got 6 so I can prep on a Sunday for the whole week. ;) Was £20 for 6 and I got 3% cashback

Also doing some planning for our new kitchen - wickes or ikea - that is the question of the day...?! :D OH's grandma is giving us some money towards it so very grateful for that. :A

    Good Morning

    Today I will/have

    * Use up the last of the tiny chicken to make soup at lunchtime. That will be 3 meals from a £2.95 bird.
    * Have taken out home made dough from the freezer to make pizzas for dinner
    * Label up some uniform we are selling at the next school uniform sale
    * Packing a flask for our walk later
    * OH to pack away a few boxes into the loft
    * Round up a PAD

    Have a good day all.

  • This is my weekend DFW list
    • · Relish the quiet weekend – often I fill time without DD with things that cost, either in fuel, time or cash and that I am just really doing to kill time until she comes back. NY resolution to cherish these times if I can instead. Have early empty nest syndrome I think! :( Not really done that well with this one!
    • · Food cupboard inventory and make at least one nice meal for now/freezer. Am out at friends for lunch and dinner today. Have been much inspired and made hungry by Greying Pilgrims diary. With DD away realised I don't need to buy meat/fish anymore as she is only one who eats them. Going to try to embrace being a veggie household as currently freezer full of enough food for her visits home for about 3 months! Need to refill it with things I enjoy instead.
    • · Expenses for work. Just got to wade through them.
    • [STRIKE]· WM was on overnight and have resisted TD which would mean I could tick it all off as done. I don’t need anything for a few days, there is time for it to dry on the airer. Where it now is! [/STRIKE]
    • ·[STRIKE] Text Builder about a couple of snags. I could fix them myself but would mean buying a few supplies and he will be neater. Plus, I can get a quote from him for the remaining work, which at least will mean I know what my target is.[/STRIKE]
    • · Tackle the ironing [STRIKE]mound mountain [/STRIKE]Everest that is in the spare room, to enable me to work out what fits and what doesn’t, and complete the wardrobe clear out. I started over xmas so its only the things that are currently covering a whole double bed (!) to review. This will make next week at work much less stressful. Made good progress, some bits to complete today!
    • · Keep looking for the jawbone charger. Have seen that a replacement one is £5 on amazon and am going to order it next week if this one really isn’t to be found in: car / suitcases that went back in loft / rucksack / coat pockets / desk / box of clutter stuff.
    • · [STRIKE]Also, in looking for above locate missing CC. I know it is in house somewhere and can’t return the jogging trousers until I can find it[/STRIKE]![STRIKE]
    • · Look into weekday lodging as A1rbandb is pretty slow at the moment. This would mean having the heating on a bit more though I guess![/STRIKE]
    • · Free exercise – [STRIKE]walking [/STRIKE]or work gym
    • Move xmas stuff into loft - its been collecting near the hatch. Kind of glad it was as kept spotting extra bits but pretty certain its all there now!
    • · Complete one of the big scary work projects that need doing in peace and quiet.
    • · Re-pot xmas tree into bigger pot with compost we already have. I know zilch about gardening but figure its had a few days to adapt to being outside now, so hopefully its re-potting won’t be too stressful!

Not doing too well with the list, but have covered kitchen table in receipts, set up work laptop, and will be cursing my way through it during the Archers.

Completed a wardrobe blitz first thing this morning - all bar two baskets. They are out on spare bed as a reminder to finish off later today. Unfortunately noticed how full the second wardrobe is with junk and bedding too, so my list has got longer :(

    • Found a couple of things to list on ebay, and some CS donations
    • Sort out bedding in all of the various locations it is stashed
    • Strip beds so they can wash overnight
    • Take back running trousers as have now located CC
    • Hot bubble bath and a bit of DIY pampering later!

CrazyLady and DNM I am genuinely quite scared of the thought of the boys leaving home and it just being myself and DH again. Because of DS1s health problems he spent 2 years at home with me and we naturally became very close. It will probably be a while before he is ready to fly the nest but who knows? Then again the constant taxi requests do get a bit tiring, DH didnt want to go to bed last night in case DS2 needed picking up and we had a bit of a squabble about it!.
honestly don't mean to scare you but my experience of kids leaving home has been very hard! Albeit our situation has been more extreme than most because of my daughter's mental health problem. But I was heart broken beyond belief for a long time (due to her illness we have had a fractured relationship for some time, but things are starting to improve). Now my adult children's lives are becoming more settled and we are easing into a new phase which I am grateful for beyond belief but I do at times miss so much those years when it was just the 3 of us facing the world. I assume this is a common feeling for most mothers?

I was a novice over the last 18 months but really spent time learning about gardening and grew £360 worth of produce last year :money: you can do it it's not rocket science :)

Thanks YL, DNMS. I have found this last year heartbreaking to be honest, some very, very low times. I was a young mum so no real experience of living as an adult without parenting responsibilities, and had DD for 90% of the time when she was younger, while ex followed lucrative jobs at far end of the country. It was more 50/50 over the last five years which gave me a chance to make progress career wise. DD decided she wanted to only be based in one house during her GCSEs and plumped for the bigger house with her dad and his new wife, new baby, new puppy for DD. I have been very lost, very sad, very hurt, I'd even say angry at times with all of them this last year. These feelings are not how I normally am and whole thing has really sapped me! My friends my own age are just settling down with kids and miss their freedom a bit, and keep saying how great it must be. A few single friends who don't want kids have also been quite similar. I've ended up avoiding them because they can't see how painful this is! I am just finding my way and working out how to be myself to be honest. It is getting easier though, and I'm lucky to have some older friends who have been through similar waves of feeling when their kids left home, so I can see its just a bit of an accelerated situation. Things like not changing my shopping habits and then realising I probably have enough food only DD eats in the house to last about 3 months has been a wake up call that it would probably do me good to try to accept the situation a bit more!

Added a goal fpr 2017: Keep the xmas tree alive through research! Thanks DNMS!

    * got batch made spag out of freezer to prepare a lasagna for tomorrow (will just need to put in the oven when I get home)
    * will make dough for pizza for oh's lunches. Will freeze some slices
    * load of washing

    * fancy going for a walk now you've mentioned it Bob!

  • dnm I have got lamb in the sc too! Dont normally do a Sunday roast but DS2 is playing footie at home so we may as well.

Interesting post CL2009, sounds like things have been really tough for you. DH and I met in our late teens, married when we were 24 and had our first child when we both 26 so we didnt really have a lot of time together as a couple without children. Then having DS1 with physical and mental health problems means that caring for him has been a big part of our lives for the past 7 years. I guess most people find this part of their lives difficult, glad things are slowly getting better for you.

So - have done 2 hours work which I didnt finish on Friday. Dont mind really, sitting here working in my jim jams with mad hair and the radio for company!

Sorry but it made me laugh too FVD!

"killing me softly with [your] words" this is my life, different circumstances but sounds very similar. I had my son when I was 16 and my daughter when I had just turned 18. I spent my life being a mum. Then my dd developed her mh problem at 12 (although it wasn't diagnosed until she was 21) our lives fell to pieces. I didn't know what it was to be an adult without being a mother (I know I still was, but my whole life had been based around being needed for my children and then suddenly I wasn't for a number of reasons). It was really hard to work out who I was and what my life meant. Someone asked me what my needs where, I didn't even know how to answer that question!

Time does heal though, it's a process. I am no longer heartbroken, really I'm not. Although as I say I miss the times with them, I'm sure most mothers go through this. Coincidentally it wasn't very long after being able to move on emotionally and define who I was (a person in my own right dontcha know?!) that my relationship with my children changed. They started to make more effort to show their love for me and involve me in their lives again. It's a funny ole thing life x

Morning all, I'm trying to see the funny side of the eBay idiot, I have refunded and blocked them now, I will try to speak to eBay but at the moment I don't even care if it costs me the final value fees as long as they go away!

We are planning a lazy day today, we were going to go guitar window shopping and to see my mum but have opted to stay home and see her tomorrow night instead.

I need to pick up a dressing up outfit I'm buying on FB for the new soft play type business thing, I have lots of girls outfits but not so many boys. It just so happened that for a long while I had a cowboy, a policeman and a construction worker and DH would joke I was putting together a mini Village People :rotfl: but I've ruined the theme with a pirate and a vampire :D

I've put a concoction in the slow cooker for later, this is all new to me and I have NO idea what I'm doing. I have put in a bag of leftover turkey and 5 bird roast, some frozen veg, a tin of ratatouille that has been lurking in the cupboard for some time and a couple of jugs of gravy. I'll serve it with our YS mash and some rolls I've taken out of the freezer.

The freezer is looking quite well stocked so I'm going to try to eat what's in there rather than do too big a shop though we do need bits and pieces (and cat food) so I will be in the supermarket at some point.

I'm going help DS apply for a couple of jobs this afternoon, his car tax and insurance is due for renewal soon and he will need to pay it himself. If he can't we will have to put it on my mum's drive and SORN it until he can.
