Afternoon all
Today I have / will:
Not spend anything
Nice long walk with the dog (Done)
Weeded raspberry / herb border, covered rhubarb crown with some compost and a big pot to get some early forced stalks, and moved the blueberry bush in its pot to a more favourable spot (Done)
Joint of beef brisket in SC for dinner later
Couple of items listed on ebay Managed a few more
Cut soft bits off a nice big orange in the fruit bowl and ate the rest of it - that is my Vit C for the day
Still to do:
Bits from fridge for lunch Done, still using Christmas cheeseNice though!
Reorganised garage to free up space
Finish sorting ebay stock / spare room in preparation for DS to move in next weekend Done, listed ebay stock in boxes in garage, rest of sales stock in boxes in loft. Had to go find a jug sold this afternoon, rummaging in garage, was ok, found it, though a bit of a blow to have to put on wellies and go outside instead of just upstairs!
Roast veg to go with beef laterDid roast potatoes, mashed swede and steamed kale - yum! The swede was bits of one I bought before Christmas, luckily it was bought loose at the market and had no use by date :rotfl::rotfl:
5 ebay parcels to finish packing
OH is going to help one of the neighbours prune his unruly apple trees this afternoon, so I will probably do another dog walk later, too
Feel as though I have done lots done today0 -
Hi everyone. Mind if I join in?
I am desperate to save some money for a family holiday, driving lessons for my DD and at some point a new kitchen.
This morning I went through all my food cupboards and what a depressing & scary thing that was. Not even sure tbh it can truthfully be called a money saving thing, more like a horrible reminder of what an incredible amount of money I must waste on buying food that we don't eat! I managed to fill 3 bin bags of out of date food. I didn't count how many items but it must have been at least 78 or 80! Just typing that makes med feel sick!
In relation to the thread however, the only thing about that activity that could be called money saving is that my cupboards are now clear so I can see what I have & I have made a note of what needs to be used up quickly before that also goes out of date! I also just had some lunch from some black sesame rice cakes which I don't even remember buying but were still in date with some Philly spread on top & very nice they were too!0 -
Welcome Maiden Mum
Slow start today trying to muster the energy to go for a walk (free exercise). Had to finish off some work: it's going to be a busy week.
- last night I entered some online comps, will send two postcard comps today
- re-listed eBay items
- FPL
- DD makes cakes with free Betty Crocker packet - delicious
- likely to go for a coffee today, ill look out for Costa receipts with loyalty points to womble.

Morning all, I'm trying to see the funny side of the eBay idiot, I have refunded and blocked them now, I will try to speak to eBay but at the moment I don't even care if it costs me the final value fees as long as they go away!
We are planning a lazy day today, we were going to go guitar window shopping and to see my mum but have opted to stay home and see her tomorrow night instead.
I need to pick up a dressing up outfit I'm buying on FB for the new soft play type business thing, I have lots of girls outfits but not so many boys. It just so happened that for a long while I had a cowboy, a policeman and a construction worker and DH would joke I was putting together a mini Village People :rotfl: but I've ruined the theme with a pirate and a vampire
I've put a concoction in the slow cooker for later, this is all new to me and I have NO idea what I'm doing. I have put in a bag of leftover turkey and 5 bird roast, some frozen veg, a tin of ratatouille that has been lurking in the cupboard for some time and a couple of jugs of gravy. I'll serve it with our YS mash and some rolls I've taken out of the freezer.
The freezer is looking quite well stocked so I'm going to try to eat what's in there rather than do too big a shop though we do need bits and pieces (and cat food) so I will be in the supermarket at some point.
I'm going help DS apply for a couple of jobs this afternoon, his car tax and insurance is due for renewal soon and he will need to pay it himself. If he can't we will have to put it on my mum's drive and SORN it until he can.
That's an impressive womble total! Is that cash? We're to you find so much??Competition wins £14,136.30[\COLOR]0 -

Hello MM
Well done on doing your cupboard audit. What do you think led to your over purchasing?
Best tips I can offer
1. Meal plan before you shop again. Go very basic. Think of 6 evening meals and 6 lunches. Why 6? Because you can usually get a 7th day for free from eating up leftovers if you are careful.
2. Write a detailed list of everything you need to deliver your meal plan. Don't forget staples like bread milk and butter.
3. Take your list and any coupons/loyalty cards to the supermarket with you. Don't be tempted by anything not on the list.
4. Monitor for a week how your meal plan is working out. Then repeat for the next week.
5. Write down anything that goes in the bin because either you couldn't use it up for some reason or it went bad before you could use it.
Good luck with your plans!

Hi all
Love the menu plan tips. I struggle with this still. Am on target so far 8 days into 2017. Shame the diet is not doing the same.
Lambing has begun. Lovely set of twins yesterday. Mum is very pleased with herself.
Men are out fencing in the rain and mud. I started at 5 and so refuse to feel guilty sat by fire watching tv.
Have frugal fun everyone

I used to think the same looking at Bob's total! 'Twas only when I joined the wombling thread I realised they also add in any money saved on YS produce, I'd always thought it was just road kill and wombled receipts with money off/unused loyalty points. None of mine is actual cash!Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
Afternoon all,
Not a lot in the way of "small things" today but here goes
* kids to pre paid swimming lessons, left my bag/purse at home so as not to spend anything.
* Hubby stayed home and prepped veggies for lunch using up everything left in the fridge before the delivery from Mr T came.
* Showered and continued using up the various lotions and potions (one finally in the bin, not to be rebought)
* Dessert was ys cheesecake bought yesterday served with berries from the freezer
* Sandwiches prepared for the families lunches tomorrow
* Tea tonight is going to be some leftover frozen party food from the freezer
* Checked lukcyphone/numberplate/fpl
* Dejunked email accounts
That's about it.
Welcome to newbies, hope you stick with us(There will be a new thread to post on tomorrow morning for the start of the new week
)
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Hi everyone :coffee: :hello:
Just back from spending the afternoon with my mam, getting a free feed and some quality catch up time. We've been discussing my impending big birthday and what I might want as a present. Honestly? Nothing. I've had an offer for a new outfit top to toe, which makes me feel a bit sick tbh - just not me.
I've managed another nsd - went to L!dl for beetroot but it was at the request of my mam so doesn't count...
Also finished writing my Year 11 reports, did my daily housework jobs and am spending a bit of time resting and relaxing before work starts again tomorrow and I'm expecting another busy week.
Been through the finances and things are looking a bit tight between now and payday, which is still over 3 weeks away unfortunately. Good job we are stocked with food and this month's bills are all paid. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control
