What small things will you do this week? - w/c 2nd January

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

    Morning all :hello:

Hope everyone is ok today. We're off to a party with both smalls which will be nice. We may pop to the nature trail afterwards for some fresh air :)

    Also today:
Lots of DD going out tomorrow, just need to check them off my sheet as they're showing as pending in my bank
    Check surveys, FPL, £co
Freeze some stuff from fridge we won't use in the next couple of days, also plan what we're eating for the next couple of days so I can be prepared
    Do some form of exercise
    Radiator shuffle
Think about what we're going to do tomorrow on our last day of holiday

    Enjoy your day. PF.

Morning folks! I've been up since about 6.30 as DS has a cold and cough and is really unsettled so we've come downstairs and had a cuddles and a feed and he has now fallen asleep in his moses basket, bless him, poor little lad :( DH is home from work today as bank holiday which is good and I've got a Mr A shop being delivered between 11-12, thank goodness as all we have left in the fridge is a punnet of grapes and a tub of butter! Other things today will include:

    - Check bank accounts - Done, still awfully short, no magical payments gone in over night!
    - Do surveys
    - Mr A shop being delivered 11-12
    - Tidy up and put on a load of washing and tumble dry - Horrible weather here
    - NSD
    - B/L/D from home
    - Put away babies first Christmas cards/tree decorations and stocking into his memory box
    - List a few things on FB selling pages

I'm sure there will be more but I'll leave it at this for now :) Have a lovely bank holiday Monday all :) x

    Morning folks!

I'm in work today, but just me and not much doing so a nice easy one!

I was very good this morning and got up on time after having a lovely relaxing evening on the sofa with candles on, watching the Victorian Farm (I love these type of programs!). Have done a mini stretching routine and core workout. One of my goals for this year is to strengthen my core a lot.

    Today's mission
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Go to supermarket at lunchtime for icing sugar, tomatoes, present for my nan, belated secret santa gift as wasn't at work for the main event. - done but forgot icing sugar. Will see how I get on with what I have.
    • Gym or run at lunchtime depending if it's open
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • After tea, drag out all the dvds for a quick KM. OH has gained a load from his brother but now there are too many for the cupboard! I'm convinced that there are some duplicates in there (Spiderman I'm looking at you...). I also need to rearrange the cupboard to make more space if they are staying!
    • Free stretching vid
    • Early night again.
    • Check Amazon for cheap new diary for work. They refuse to buy them for us now. - fiver. not bad
Will add more if I think of it

    Have a good one all

    Ciao!

Thanks for the kick off, PF :A
Rest easy Katy ann, you awesome woman you :)
DNMS - just this holiday, I wonder who you were thinking of :)

Still on holiday, but slighly desperado to get home, get the decs away, declutter, chill out with my knitting and sort YNAB :rotfl:

Today it's free monuments/busy day walking round, soaking it all in and then a quiet evening at home - eating/drinking in (were too tired last night to drink anything when we got back -v mse!;))

    Take care!
    Xx
  • Morning all :coffee:
Thanks for the starter this week PF.
I had a pretty good sleep all in all between my bed and the sofa - total of 9 hours on and off which is a bit of a record for me :D
So today is the last day of the holiday before I get myself back off to work tomorrow for another 7 weeks. I feel quite :( about it really, but that's fairly normal... That means that today I have to get everything done in preparation for going back to work as well as everything else I missed by being away yesterday.
Check banking and PAD - obviously no change but tomorrow will be the big dd day.
Catch up on tv that I missed over the weekend. Just watched EastEnders and broke my heart.
Daily jobs - washing, washing up, hoover and a bag of rubbish out
Get the tree down and decorations up in the loft for next year
Freezer inventory and meal plan for the week ahead
Plan a nice relaxing afternoon with dd while the boys are at football
Get my house keys back from bestie
Continue with my latest knitting project (a dress for a friend's baby which is due in March)
Try not to stress too much about going back to work tomorrow (easier said than done).
Have a good day everyone :T

    Morning all :)
Thanks for the start PF :)
Well, almost back to normal today, as OH is out and my brother has gone back in prep for work tomorrow. So, some much appreciated time on my own to get on with things!

    Today's list:
Not planning to spend anything, no spends yet in 2017 :T Nothing spent :D
Finished up half an apple with my breakfast porridge :)
Dog walks x 2 (first done) Done
Strip off spare bed and wash bedding, I will attempt to peg this outside as it isn't raining (it is cold and icy again, so not sure how much it will dry, if at all :() Done, it did dry a bit outside, but needs to go on the airer overnight
Hoovering and tidying Did the bathroom and stairs :T
Leftovers to use up for meals today, but I will cook fresh veg to go with dinner :)Leftovers now used, cooked cabbage and leeks to go with leftover pie
3 ebay parcels to pack (4 if the other buyer pays up) Had a good day, 8 items sold altogether. I have packed 4 so far, still waiting for that buyer to pay though!
List a few more items Only managed 1 :o
Dig up rest of leeks, if the soil thaws out enough Done, that was a chilly job  Used some for dinner, rest for soup tomorrow I think, there were only about 12, some of which were quite small
Sort out rest of toys in spare room, find a box big enough for the lego collection, and sort out any childrens books that GD doesn't like and isn't likely to be interested in in the near future, these can go to the charity shop! Done, have some for the CS, some to go back to DD, if she wants them, some broken bits binned. Used one of my sales stock boxes for the lego, as it has a lid. Swapped for the box it was currently in.
Need to get the washing on the airer and track down a couple of ebay items ready to pack in the morning!

Right, coffee finished, off to make the most of this uninterrupted (I hope!) time :)

    Morning Frugalistas,
Still fluey. Bah! Am able to do stuff now though so have had a good morning:
*Took Christmas decs down & packed away carefully for next year.
*mr f wrestled our potted tree back out onto the courtyard & I gave it a bucket of water. Hope it will still be in good fettle for next Christmas.
*Fed wasted cat meat to our robin.
*Made 8 portions of turkey soup. Lunch today & tomorrow plus some for freezer. Also froze remaining turkey stock.
*Laundry drying on heated airer. Nice bright sunny day but icy too, so not really worth pegging out.
*Wrote thank-you letters. Had intended to buy some cards for this purpose but haven't been anywhere due to lergy. Found 3 thank-you cards in my writing box & 4 leftover sheets of pretty notepaper which just goes to show I didn't need to buy anything at all.
*Synchronize diaries with mr f who is back at work tomorrow.
*Continue to rest to try & vanquish the rest of these lingering germs.
*Dinner done as we will eat the turkey & mushroom supreme I cooked yesterday, with jacket potatoes.
I just want to get better & get cracking with the new year now.
    Have a great week all,
    F x
