Whatever works for you; I'm usually playing catchup at the weekend depending how busy I have been during the week.
Thanks for reminding us about the bird watch/count.
Sorry you're not feeling so good; sometimes it can be such an anticlimax after the festive season and some are clearly finding it a struggle returning to the work routine. Maybe do one or two tiny chores; that way at least you won't feel bad about not achieving anything - although it sounds as if you have done stuff already.

Thank you, I think your right.its all a bit of an anti climax really

Valli - remember there is no right way to grieve. Everyone deals with it differently. There is no 'normal' process or timeline. My mother called this morning feeling miserable - it's grey, dull and damp and although she's going out tonight, it's the first weekend she hasn't had anyone staying.

Lots of tidying done. And hoovering. But it doesn't seem to be having a major impact!

Bought a steam cleaner... used it... am horrified by how disgusting the floors were. It seems to have lifted what I thought was ingrained dirt from the 'temporary' (second hand, free) vinyl that I've had on the floors for the last three years.

Ensuite floor looks fabulous. So does bathroom (but travertine is great for hiding dirt). So steam cleaner was well worth the investment. Now I just need to get back into routines for cleaning and slowly improve the state of the place over time.

I've mostly mopped around today and felt sorry for myself. Made some potato scones and 'bacon' flavoured seitan tonight which was *something* at least. Ho hum.

Greenbee - I had a steam cleaner once and it was v difficult to use so I got rid of it. It was a while ago so wondering whether I should revisit the idea? Sounds like yours worked well!

Redshank - I think lots of people are feeling like that at the moment - January blues? Hope you're feeling better today. And what is seitan?

I am lazing in bed whilst writing this - no up with lark for me! Off to church this morning, then going to do a bit of baking with my youngest (homework is to make space themed biscuits).

Got the boys to do some tidying up yesterday so now top floor is much cleaner. I continued with the list in the kitchen and cleared out a drawer and a cupboard, and wiped doors. Go me!

    Morning all.

I'm still in bed under a thick duvet but I'm freezing. I need a cup of tea but am too cold to move.

I have made an executive decision already that today is all about doing nothing. I haven't slept well all week and am feeling fed up as a result, so today is all about keeping warm and doing nothing.

I had planned to wash my bedding (I always do it weekly) and do some dusting and hoovering but it can wait...I'm having a day off.
