I see your point but I also have my own views as for one Mum would not disinherit any of us, especially me, as she and I are very close.
She could decide to leave it (or the majority of her estate with perhaps small bequests to her immediate family) to the Cat's Home or other charity/ies. Which would be a very generous spirited thing to do.

She might! But if she did that’s her choice. As I am executor of her current will, I am pretty sure she won’t. (Unless you decide to go and brain wash her into it).
I hope that you have not been disappointed in your life to be so negative.
I already mentioned it was because Mum brought it up.
I was also if you read it prepared for me to be bypassed if I was going to be no better off. Better Biggest put it towards a Mortgage if necessary.
But you have chosen to see only my dreams at the end of the thought process.
I wish you wealth, and happiness in your life as I feel you don’t have it at the moment. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Somewhere today I need to find my Positive mind set.
My sales figures are plodding along at work but now it is time for me to focus better on the costs and the amount of funds I am spending on overheads, against stock and consumables. Because of the shock of the new electric bill, I have had to sit back and take stock again. My spends have spiralled this month, and I need to be more careful about how much stock I am holding. I will be looking at the different aspects of the sales sheet today being the end of the month, and seeing where the income has been coming from and hopefully help me to target where we aim to increase the income.
I hit my overall target for October yesterday, so today’s take is a bonus. It’s time to work on November targets. Slightly later than I planned because of the distractions this month.
Oh and by the way my pie in the sky dreams are pretty modest
This is the kind of place I am thinking about http://www.rightmove.co.uk/overseas-property/property-47888082.html?currencyCode=GBPWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Had a better day today with Biggest in the Shop I managed to do some making for once. Made a waistcoat for one of my customers. It’s on my Facebook page if you want a look see.
One of the Mums came in for more fabric as after her lesson last weekend one of the little girls has used what she learnt to make small bags that her sister is selling at school, and so Mum bought some of the Christmas Fat Quarters this time. Loving her enterprising and her enthusiasm for Sewing.
Mum has booked her in for another lesson next weekend as this weekend is Full.
It’s time to calculate the months takings and look at what we have Been selling etc so I can promote the right things.
Amazingly today yet another customer who actually gave us some fantastic fabric, I had made fitted sheets and a flat sheet out of larger sheets for her this week, and she now wants some bunting out of the leftovers.
It was only the end of last week that another lady gave me two bags of fabric as well.
I am very lucky to be given fabrics and bits and pieces every now and again. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Can I suggest if you are struggling to pay a dd of 270ish pounds for electric you need to either stop spending on stock, sewing machines or anything else other than basics to do the repairs that are actually in, or seriously look at whether your business is actually financially viable. If you are really struggling that bad to pays a few hundred quid, then you are possibly a few days/weeks away from being unable to keep your head above water.
It shouldn't be that hard if you are now turning over more weekly work and have increased your weekly/monthly takings.
You have to be spending on stock that you don't need to sit on a shelf when you need to be building up a decent pot of money to be able to support your outgoings.
This isn't meant as a dig or to put you down, but all you seem to be doing is "treading water" without getting anywhere.
You need to stop all spending on anything that isn't going to be paid for and out the door within a couple of days.
Concentrate on doing as much work as possible with as little cost to you as possible to build up your business cashflow.
If this isn't possible to reduce your spends, then I honestly think you would be better cutting your losses. Sorry, but thats how I see it.If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.0 -
I understand what you mean.
I have a lot of stock now, and I am selling more so hopefully I will not need to buy anymore for a while. ( I do have £1,000 in the savings account ready for the tax man, and the accountant). But I am well aware that things are not perfect. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

I am a realist, many people wrongly associate negativity with realism. Everyone has had disappointments in their life, I am no exception, they are part of life, get over it and move on, which is what I have done.
Being your mother's executor of her current will is just that. As they get older, old people can get some strange ideas (I speak from experience). One obviously hopes your mother will have a long and healthy life, but the unexpected can and does happen.
Thank you, but I have sufficient income and reasonable happiness. Now good health, that is something I could do with.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
