  • A moratorium on all clothes spending. I do not need any more clothes until summer.

I am stopping buying new clothes too - until such time as I have shifted enough weight that my current wardrobe is too large for me I simply do not need anything. My wardrobes are pretty full even with having not put my summer things back in the wardrobe in after I had the place treated for moths in the autumn.

I think your point about buying good quality things is well made too.My goal once I have got down to where I want to be size wise (which will take a long while) is to only re-stock the wardrobe with good quality things and to plan my wardrobe a bit more - thinking about what I need rather than just what I like. I do wear most of my wardrobe, but most items don't get worn often enough - for example I own more dresses that aren't suitable for work than someone who mainly wears jeans and nice tops at the weekend.

I earn enough I can in theory afford to treat myself to new things every month, but I also have a chunky mortgage that won't pay off till my 60s, that I would like to start overpaying and pay off in my 50s, and in six years in the house I've not overpaid a penny yet.:o

I don't want to spend less on things like travel and socialising as everything you read on happiness suggests that it's experiences that matter not things, so the possessions will have to be where the cut backs are made.

Well, that and food - more healthy home made things and less buying things out when I don't need to. It's fine going out for dinner with friends, but for work I really should always bring in food - seem to end up spending best part of £10 and almost never less than £5 if I buy lunch out at work. That adds up to quite a lot over a year - well over a thousand pounds on lunch to eat at my desk, not to mention all the times I end up going to my local cafe for breakfast or lunch on my days off as I am too lazy to cook.. And if I think about how much I spend on food already, I probably barely need to spend anything extra to feed myself at work as my poor food planning means I throw quite a bit away. Better planning and my food bill could easily cover it all.

Speaking of food - must have some breakfast as I need to be heading into town within the hour and I am still in my pajamas.

Hope you enjoy the tour of the Globe indie. I've done that and found it fascinating. They were rehearsing when we were there but I'd like to see a proper show too.

I realise that sadly there are lots of people on mse that are desperate for money but I'm fortunately not in that position. I suppose I'm a person that doesn't like waste and hates being ripped off. I'm careful with money so that I can splash out on the things that I enjoy. I'll happily go out for a meal with friends and spend the equivalent of a week's food budget but that's my choice.

I wear glasses for driving and distances like at the cinema, theatre or watching football. I deliberated for ages on some 'designer' specs but couldn't like them enough to spend the £200+. So as a stop gap measure I went to Specsavers, bought a similar style and I've been delighted with them.

I really need to do a MK on my wardrobe. I posted the other day that I went through the whole festive season to a range of events without needing to buy anything. Last week when I was browsing TKMaxx I decided that although I liked some jumpers there I remembered some I had at home that I haven't worn in an age. I'm not going to go as far as say I'll buy nothing but I'm not doing impulse buying. I think I need to ask myself why I have things I've not worn for a while. Occasion wear is fine but if it's because I don't have the right accessories or it doesn't match anything then I could remedy that.

Again I'm trying to force myself into going out for a short walk. I can see why people join gyms or classes or groups. I need the accountability so maybe posting it here will help me;). I've done the facial massage again this morning. I'm really pleased with my skin and I think it's the serum and the massage and general care that's helping. I did some batch cooking yesterday ( a veggie chilli and some fishcakes) so they're in the freezer. Other than that not too much happening.:)

Its confession time. This week has not been the best for me for dieting. I've had a meal out for besties birthday, a meal out for my sons birthday, Christmas choc still being consumed and generally not the best diet this week. Now the week is almost over and no more birthdays coming up I hope there will not be any bad dinner repeats for a while.

On a positive note, I was good for most of the working days and took soup for lunch, so breki and lunch were definitely good! Stocked up on healthy foods today so aiming for a good start to the week. Going to a new kickboxing class on Thursday so will try that and see how it goes.

I cheated and weighed myself halfway through the week which recorded a 1lb loss. I was aiming for 2lbs this week, so being extra good today in hopes of the Monday morning weigh in being 1lb lighter. Fingers crossed.

Been perfuming and wearing earrings every time I leave the house. I shower rather than bath, but I'm making an effort to have an end of the week bath, where I pamper myself. It's actually really nice and I could get used to it ;)

    Hello Ladies,

I got one of the new pairs of Van Dal shoes I bought from eBay delivered to me yesterday and they were even more gorgeous than the photos. I tried them on, only to discover to my dismay that they were too big for me even though they are a size 6 and that is my size. :o I can not be bothered to return them to the private seller as she sold them in good faith, so I am going to donate them to my local Cancer Research charity shop. :D

I had to go out yesterday to run a few errands, so I wore a pink with small white spots Kaliko top, which has 3/4 sleeves and a square neckline. I wore a pull on black skirt, my black long leather jacket and my black leather ankle boots with it. I wore a solid silver chain with a murano glass silver and black pendant, silver hoop and crystal earrings, a silver and 3 baguette cut diamonique ring with my Ingersoll stainless steel and diamond watch. I wore perfume, but no make up. As it was only drizzling on and off, it was a really warm day in London for the time of year. :)

I am not making enough effort to eat healthily, but that will continue to improve as the Christmas and New Year treats are consumed by me and my children. As I have returned to work, I am beginning to tone back up as well.

I am going to Karaoke this evening, so I will pamper myself and get my nails and toe nails painted in readiness. :)

Have a good Sunday. Bye for now.

Just popped back on to say that accountability works!:D

When I finished posting, I put my coat on and went out for a walk. OK, just around the block and a scant 30 minutes but it's a start. Actually I'm quite pleased as I was walking briskly and surprised when I checked my watch that I'd done it so quickly. I need to plan some longer routes locally. I got my weightloss through changing the way I eat but I need to stay supple and keep my leg muscles strong for dancing. Plus there's a definite feelgood factor from getting some fresh air.

It's very understandable that weightloss will be difficult while there are Christmas goodies to be finished sugarbaby or ongoing celebrations lippy but we can't do everything on 1st January (however much we'd like to;)).

Shame about the shoes sugarbaby, especially as it's a brand you've bought before.:(

So another thing's going on my2017 list: exercise. My plan is to take a 30 minute walk on days when no other exercise is planned into my day. So unless I'm dancing or going to football (I don't play:D but we park a long way from the ground) then I'm going to try to fit in a walk.

Wow indiepanda - that whole post applies to me and coukd have been wrii
tten by me. I have way more clothes than days of the year and tend to wear the same stuff and never have the occassion to wear the gorgeous evening dresses. I put loads of items to the charity shop yesterday including lots with the tags still on as i plan to buy quality items when i lose weight.

  • Just had a pamper session, hair, shower, facemask and actually pampered toenails in preparation for some nice varnish in a few weeks. Also just put a clear varnish on finger nails - I hadn't been bothering as they have been soooo brittle for the past few years but apparantly that is a sign of low thyroid, so just decided that even short, they can look good.

maman definately keep up the walking. I do alot and just love it and get really crabby if I don't do it. I hate the gym as I always feel I'm about to have a heart attack whereas I don't feel that out in the fresh air. If you can get a friend to go sometimes or download some podcasts or music to keep you going. My cholesterol has gone down .7 and my HDL is apparantly fantastic and the nurse said it was all down to the walking!!!!

Here's to keeping fabbing for the working week ladies. (are we all ladies???!!!)
    :rotfl:
  • Think today was a fail other than wearing some earrings (though they were the same ones I wore yesterday).

Seemed to be too much to do.

Will have a file of my feet while the bath is running later.

    Will do better tomorrow.

    AA.

I really enjoyed the tour, our guide was very entertaining. I haven't been to see a play there but I am going to have to put that on my to do list for the summer, think it would be amazing to see Shakespeare performed as it would have been back when he was writing the plays. Think I would have to pay extra to be seated than stand though. Am used to standing for music gigs and festivals but then that makes sense when you want to dance along anyway, which you wouldn't do at the theatre. I have to admit, my usual choice of theatre trip is less high brow - I tend to go to lots of musicals rather than plays, got Half and Sixpence, Dreamgirls and 42nd Street booked over the next few months.

I can't claim I am hard up for money either, I just want to spend mine more wisely and invest more for the future. I don't tend to spend huge amounts on any one item, but I am a dreadful fritterer and inclined to buy more than I need, and then I get a bit overwhelmed with the sheer volume of stuff I have. Not to mention the guilt for the waste - I might not be hard up now but I grew up pretty poor.

I couldn't justify buying designer glasses for similar reasons to you. My last pair pre surgery were Oakleys that I had the reactions coating on so I didn't need sunglasses for hiking, but what with a complex prescription and needing to get the thinner lenses to avoid them making me look like I was wearing milk bottles they cost some £500! I was wearing mine more of the time than not as I only wore lenses for nights out, so it felt worthwhile.

This time I didn't look at anything that cost more than £89 for standard lenses, paid £30 more on each to get the anti reflect coat as that makes sense for night driving, but two pairs for £149 seemed a steal compared to what I was used to.

I have a few sale purchases from last summer with the tags on and have put on a bit of weight since, but hopefully I will have shifted the weight by the summer. My weakness isn't so much evening dresses as fun vintage style dresses with bold colours and prints that really wouldn't work in the office but are good for evenings at the pub and the more casual sorts of clubs I would go to. I love Emily and Fin dresses and they have quite quirky prints (circus acrobats, dice, bold flowers, tropical plants, umbrellas etc.), and I have some Fever dresses too, my favourite of which has a print of little giraffes - not really work appropriate.

Well I have had a lovely day out with one of my younger Grandaughters, but not such a good day at sticking to a sensible eating regime!
On a plus side though I resisted buying 2 items in the sales, so stuck to my resolution not to buy any more clothes!
Went out in full make up, perfume and jewellery, looked and felt smart all day.
