Evening all
Well, a slightly better day today. Hardly left my desk all day at work, but at least I went from work to a Ceroc class with a friend of mine, so I managed to hit my 10,000 steps by the time I got home despite managing not to manage the 250 per hour my fitbit challenges me to do. Had intended to go out at lunchtime to pick a sandwich or something for dinner, but didn't get round to it, so ended up having a protein ball when I got home instead, just to make sure I don't end up so hungry I wake up during the night. Hopefully it will work!
I've used one of those foot peel things recently too - still shedding at the moment. I bought one called silken soles which cost £14.75 for two pairs and it seems better than the footner ones I used before.0 -

Creating a funny picture in my head of the interesting noises eminating from bathroom!!!!:rotfl:0 -
Good morning lovely ladies
What a great start to this years thread. How positive you all sound.:D
Well TBH I am feeling a tad overwhelmed......by the sheer volume of stuff I have to do. Never mind I shall just to remember the elephant.
And of course concentrate on my new mantra "vitality". If I aim for that everything else should just slot into place.
And of course.......lists!!!
Realistically I'm guessing it's going to take about 3 months before I'm done.
On a positive note I seem to be sleeping much better. After weeks of very poor sleep I finally seem to be getting back to better sleep patterns so hopefully I shall soon start to feel the benefits.
It's a nice bright sunny day here. A trip to Aldi later to stock up with good healthy produce to get back into paleo and healthy eating. Whilst I didn't binge over the holiday i did slip on the oaleo front.
Why don't hospitals stock healthier snacks. Most of the time the proper restaurant was closed so it was either Costa (that place must make a fortune) or vending machines. There was an M&S on site but there's only so much salad you can eat....especially in December. :rotfl:
Hey ho. Onwards and upwards.
Spent the day with my sister, pleased to say she seems much calmer and has received some good advice from her GP. She works part time and loves her job and we all agree she would benefit from going back to work next week.
I have got appts booked to register the death and funeral directors next week so she can go back to work knowing that the ball is rolling. I cleared dad's room of all his paperwork and have it here so made a start last night.
I have been helping dad manage his affairs for the past few years so I'm actually pretty much up to speed with everything so I don't think it will be too bad.
So it's just plough on and work my way through those lists......:rotfl:
I've just bought a couple of exercise DVDs so hopefully once I've stopped coughing and wheezing I can make a start.
I'm confident that after almost 11 years of family sickness and deaths the worst is finally over. Whilst I am saddened at the loss of both my parents I do feel that a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders. They both lived well into their nineties so they "had a good innings" as dad would say.
Hopefully I can benefit from my genetic inheritance and follow in their footsteps.
Spring is almost round the corner.....a time for new beginnings. So time to clear the decks and get ready for action.
Have a great day.0 -
Morning all
Managed the perfume and earrings and have had my hair cut, though I need to really decide what I do with it as it tends to just dry and do what it wants - looks passable as it's quite short and thick so I'm not too messy!
Foot files and peels ordered - to those who were concerned about looking after feet - it's just one of my pet hates I think, having rough heels etc and I agree with whichever poster wrote (sorry not a great memory) that if my feet are nice I feel better.
Trying to take baby steps with improvements in all areas this year as usually I set myself huge targets then get downhearted when I don't meet them.
Also struggling with an old, unwell dog at the moment which taking a lot of my thinking time so no more new routines for me at the moment.
Thanks for everyone's help and welcome, enjoying this thread immensely.

New joiner alert!
I hope I can join you. I subscribed to this thread last year and thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
I started making a bit more of an effort at the end of last year. I started watching Pixiwoo make up videos on YouTube and I'm beginning to overhaul my make up bag using better quality products.
I was lucky enough to spend Christmas and New Year in Mauritius and I did plenty of people watching there - lots of stylish ladies plus plenty of not so stylish!
One thing I noticed about the stylish is that they all brought I little pouch to the pool as well as their beach bag. In it they kept little things that get lost at the bottom of a bag. I borrowed my 9 year old's make up bag and tried it out - room key, little bit of money, hair bands, phone, kindle - so useful! I'm now on the look out for a stylish one for myself - the brighter colour the better! It would be useful on the journey too to keep passports, boarding cards in one place.
My resolution for this year is to use body lotions more. I've got a few but never bothered before, but currently I'm trying to keep my tan as long as possible. I'm also trying to get back to a stricter low carb, as I did indulge in treats during December.
Today I've showered and washed my hair. I'll straighten it soon and put on make up as I'm out later. I've painted my fingernails red/pink too.0 -
Nice to hear you sounding much more positive LL & good news that your Sister seems to be coping well too.
Wearing perfume, jewellery & make-up today but that is quite normal for me - I always have done since I started work (35 years ago now )
Had my weekly Zumba class last night and am attending a blood doning session after work this evening but will try and fit in a bit of 'fabbing' after my bath tonight - at least some body moisturiser and foot cream. Luckily enough my feet aren't too bad so don't need too much looking after.
Have a good day all

I love TK Maxx for little makeup bags.
I'm glad you and your sister are feeling a bit better LL.
Gym this morning before the dentist. Only managed one workout so I've not caught up yet (I do a different "body part" each day so can double up if needed) but I can do my arms at home as it's all free weights and will do that tonight. Had my perfume on but forgot to take my engagement ring off before lifting, oops.
All good at the dentist. I may need a filling replacing as a tooth that didn't form correctly (I was ill as a baby) has started getting a bit sensitive but we're just going to keep an eye on it for now. I've just increased my direct debit so I can have the air flow polishing every time I go; it helps remove staining (minimal as I don't smoke and don't drink tea/coffee) but the hygienist recommends it as the best clean you can get. It's basically sand blasting for your teeth, I think. :rotfl:
I want to do a little fabbing in the flat tonight. My dressing table is all cluttered up, and there are some summer jackets that have been hanging on the dining table chairs for a week now to try that can be put away. Just little things that have been bugging me.

Oooh I've just realised I'm stylish!! I do exactly that. I have an embroidered pouch (bought in Turkey) that I use for wipes, Paracetamol, hair clips, lip salve, tissues, pen etc. It worked so well in my beach bag that I now have one in my everyday handbag.
People watching is great both for ideas and also because you'll always find someone fatter than you or scruffier than you. People watching poolside has the added advantage that you can wear sunglasses!
I always preserve my tan with some gradual bronzer mixed with the body lotion. Garnier Summer Body is good.
Don't worry about your feet Scottish lassie. Just prioritise what's important for you or the things you can achieve most easily and build from there.
Weighed this morning and I've lost the pound that took me out of my target range. I'd still like to lose a bit more but it's a start and shows I've got back into sensible eating after Christmas.:)
Glad to hear you sounding better LL, I'm sure the much needed sleep is helping.:)0 -
I had a good session with PT this morning, but seem to be very stiff and achy now:(, no pain, no gain perhaps.
Home for a no carb brunch and then shower and change and into town for hairdresser appointment, changed style slightly, Oh and I remembered the body lotion, so a good "me" day today. Still have to paint toe nails, but the rest of the pedi completed in readiness.:D
LL - pleased that you are feeling a little brighter, also that your sister feels slightly better too.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0
