Thank you SH.
Its been an interesting week. Had the phone call that all teachers dread and the ensuing visit. I think I was running on adrenaline for a couple of days and got to midday on the day following the OFSTED visit and ran out of energy. Thankfully it was quieter at Job 2 that night, so I asked to leave early...just so needed to sleep!
At the end of the week , it was the county agricultural show, which is part of our annual calendar. It’s been cancelled for the last couple of years due to Covid, so there was a real buzz of excitement this year. It does cost us about £60 to get in, so is quite an expensive day out, but since we don’t go away on holiday, I treat this as a positive treat that we all love. DS3 was a little overwhelmed as he can’t remember going pre Covid but the rest were delighted! DD1 came home from uni specifically so it was good to see her.
DD1 got engaged recently which we are all delighted about, particularly DS3 as he loves spending time with DD1 and DD1’s BF. I’m suddenly conscious that I want to do all I can to help them, so need to factor in saving money to help with wedding costs. DD1 also has her ( delayed) graduation ceremony soon, so also need to factor in transport costs and overnight accommodation.
Unfortunately the shower has suddenly started to leak whenever used, so am needing to set aside money to solve this problem😒.
Life remains very busy with juggling family life and work and trying to find time to spend with a friend. Much to be thankful for, especially the honeysuckle coming into flower, the fragrant roses in the garden and the lighter evenings and mornings.

Congratulations to DD1. My son and fiancee move out of their student digs tomorrow to go and live with her parents till they find their feet. They have a wedding planned for next summer- gulp. I understand the feeling of needing to have some money put aside to help with the wedding.
Curiosity, but how long since your workplace was last inspected? I would dearly love the Secondary school that made my DD ill to be inspected, last one was 10 years ago this Autumn under a head who left at the end of that academic year. We all still live with the after effects of what happened with DD (starting seeing signs of recovery though), it's not the teachers but is/was the management.
Glad you had a good day out.4 -
Congrats to DD1. Good luck with savings for weddings. Scary thought...
Well done on the debt payment.
Good luck with getting the shower fixed. Is it just the hose or something worse? A new hose is normally around £10.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I thought I’d posted about this but have looked back and not found it. My sister is being able to claim 2 yrs child maintenance in advance when dividing the value of the house - I.e. he won’t owe her for two years going forward or for the bits he isn’t paying as they go through the process. Is this something your solicitor has discussed with you HSL? Given the lack of CM paid by your ex, this would amount to a substantial sum off your mortgage I would think!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
