He was bound to slip up sometime and damage to your lawn mower was an unwise move. Good idea of yours to let the police see that. Have you mentioned it to the solicitor too? I've lost track of when your ex collected things from your garden but have you had the garden tools or used the mower since then?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

He may not have taken the letter. Given that it's come from him he could have copied the letterhead from a letter sent to him and written the contents himself by copying the contents of the letter to him but substituting your name and address? He'll do anything to upset you and wind you up won't he? It's unsettling that he's damaged your lawnmower though. He's obsessed and now that he can't get to you by stealing your furniture he's still trying to get to you by any means available. On the plus side you're not giving him the headspace that he is obviously still giving you.4

Oh why can’t some people just move on. I think it’s jealousy he’s probably hearing bits from the kids on how your decorating/getting garden organised and generally moving on.
You must be so frustrated. I think you are amazing and not once lowered yourself to his standards. Where was the lawnmower kept that someone could get access to it.2 -
The ex has a serious problem, he sounds deranged, why does he have to keep chipping away at you 🤬 It’s a shame you don’t know someone who’d be happy to sort him out, he sounds like he needs it.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

I'm so sorry that these things are happening. Did your Dad's security walk shed any light on anything you hadn't noticed? Looks like you're going to have to keep it like fort knox. New secure postbox and padlocks on the shed. And any cameras that you feel can help. Have you looked at CIFAS? I think you pay £25 and it means any credit checks will have to go through extra checks which will be worth the peace of mind possibly. With this letter from Moorcroft be very careful with how to proceed. You do not want to acknowledge it in any way and they are brilliant at twisting things. Never call them. I believe there is "prove it" letter pinned somewhere on the debt free page. I think it might be better to ignore the letter but I am not an expert at these things.I think credit Karma is the best credit searching website as it shows you month by month any late payments or defaults.I think it all sounds like you are doing so much better and he is clutching at straws to hurt you.Keep going. My sister has recently gone through a break up with an abusive partner (very proud of her as she didn’t stand for it - he hit her and that was it) - she had a lady from social services come to see her to give her support and advice (Not to judge or check up on her/my niece). She referred her to another service where they installed cameras and window/door alarms and fixed her back gate for free. Might it be worth seeing if your local authority has a service like this?Definitely make sure you report this to the police though HSL - he is behaving illegally and it has to stop. It sounds like he needs a restraining order.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I suppose though we all suspect who the culprit is, theres no evidence to prove it.
Going back to when he came in last year and took items from your home, from the walls etc was that reported to the solicitors? Just wondering if they gave any advice on what could be done?
I've had similar thoughts re the letter. Is it genuine or not. In addition I believed I'd read that you shouldn't acknowledge the debt.
Perhaps make a separate post on the main debt board, so people can guide you through the correct procedure.4 -
Thank you Cherryfudge, Cranky40, Parkyp, SA, Kitten868, themadvix and Spendless.
@CRANKY40 -hadn’t considered the letter not being genuine, was just freaked out by having such a letter.
@Kitten868 - Thank you, I had a look for the letter you mentioned on the main board and found it.
@ themadvix - online report to the police has been done and I have an email with a number on. At the very least it means it’s been logged, so if anything else happens, which I sincerely hope it doesn’t, there is a record.
@Spendless - last time I reported the furniture raid and the entering at will to the solicitor, I had a response agreeing with me that I could take precautions to prevent it happening again. I will post on the main board, thank you for the advice.
I can’t believe the week has flown by so fast. Another 4 shifts done at Job 2 but the extra wages are being used to fund costs of getting to my friend’s funeral. I’m quite agitated by how much I seem to be spending at the moment. Thankfully DD2 is happy to use her car as mine has ended up at the garage needing a new exhaust 😞☹️. I need to have an ultra frugal May.
On a positive note, the mortgage advisor has found a mortgage that looks like it might be doable. It’s a repayment one...I didn’t realise the mortgages can go beyond retirement age, though can see not ideal. The sooner it's paid off the better. Just got to get through the application process now.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Boo to the car. Mortgage sounds positive though, you could always overpay and get the term down if it seems too long.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5
