  • Thank you DAL, Janb5 & Kitten868.

DAL - you are right, the DCs that have moved are young adults and capable of understanding choices and consequences. I need to remember that!

Thank you for the tip Janb5 - I’ve not tried podcasts so will try.

Kitten868- Thank you for the reminder about balance. Yes I’m still working at Job 2 over the summer, but ended up working a double shift on Monday, so that was a timely reminder for me not to work every shift going and just have no time to recover from the crazy end of term.

On Sunday evening I finally got time to get out for a walk with DD1 and DS3. We had planned a route but diverted to another one on realising that some heavily pregnant cows were in one field and we felt they were best left undisturbed! We went on a local footpath from which you can see views across the village below and right out to nearby hamlets and villages. It’s  view I never get tired of - the ever changing colours of the patchwork fields below and in the distance, coupled with the sense of freedom that such a vast expanse of sky gives you. The hedgerows are shabbily beautiful at the moment. The honeysuckle is in full flower ( and fragrance) whereas the cow parsley has gone over now. Much of the grass has turned brown and has seed heads blowing in the wind. The vetch stands out as it’s purple flowers scramble through hedgerow. The blackberry blossom covers much of the higher hedgerow with some early varieties displaying green fruit. It was very relaxing to amble along the lanes, marvelling at the height and colours of the hedgerows.

We’ve had one birthday this week which went comparatively smoothly. I did a birthday breakfast, then we headed to the beach. It was the quieter beach...the tide was out and we had a great time. DS3 and I spent quite a long time exploring the exposed rock pools. I was trying to encourage him to wait patiently at the side of the pool to see which creatures might swim across the pool or dart out from the seaweed. He did wait a couple of times but was too eager to find  the next pool!! Our best find  was a strawberry anemone. Sadly we also found quite a lot of plastic ☹️.
The birthday child had a couple of friends to join us. DD1 had kindly helped out with a birthday cheesecake, as requested by the birthday child, as the extra shift had taken my time. The birthday child was happy, which was the main thing🙂.

A fair amount of money had gone out his week, mainly on birthday related expenses - extra food and a gift but thankfully the gift pot and my wages from Job 2 have helped with these expenses.

Another shift completed today - my normal shift which was nicely busy. £10 received 8n tips which I intend to pay off a debt tomorrow. I feel that I must regain my focus to knock out the rest of these debts.

    Thank you Lucielle and Cherryfudge.

Yes thank you, Cherryfudge, legal matters notwithstanding, I am feeling more relaxed than the end of last week. Having time to get out into the garden and walk definitely makes a difference!

I’ve been able to get some decluttering done which has cheered me somewhat. There was a piece of furniture that the ex placed here, again on a day I was out, so I had no say about it. The furniture was, by the looks of it,  “rescued” on the way to the tip. I have never sat on it and have hated its very presence in the house, so I decided it could go. I asked the ex if he wanted it - his expletive filled response indicated not, so it’s out of the house and gone. I discovered that the local council does a bulky waste collection and for a relatively small sum, will take up to 4 items. I booked a collection yesterday and was stunned by their efficiency as the item ( and a couple of other bulky items that have been left sitting around) were collected by 9.30 this morning. I now have space in the garden where the other 2 items have been sat for months, if not years, so my next stage of sorting out the back garden can commence🥳. I am so thrilled that these items that have cluttered for so long have gone🙂.

The wind  💨 here has been wild overnight. One of the younger DDs had a couple of friends over earlier in the week and they camped in the garden...the tent was still up, but this morning was upside down at the other side of the garden😳. Just thankful it hadn’t blown further afield.

Payday today for both jobs today so I need to be planning August ‘s finances today. Yesterday I paid in £16 from tips which I promptly paid off a debt. I also checked the account that Job 2’s  wages go into and found that I had  £25 remaining so that went off a debt too. I am determined to knock a dent in these debts and get them gone for good.
