Your organisational abilities are second to none! There is so much to juggle, but this possible new job might, as you say, help keep things steady and assist towards a mortgage.

Thank you Cherryfudge and SH.
I put in an application for the potential new job and I have an interview in the coming week. I just hope I can get the balance right in securing an income enough to enable me on the mortgage front to stay in our home but still being able to have quality time with the children and time to walk.
I’ve been busy with Job no 2...it’s been a 5 shift week! I get paid weekly which is useful so this week’s wages have enabled me to pay an extra £50 off the CC. I’ve also been able to bring home £30 in tips so I intend to use half to make a CC payment and half to savings.
Its that time of the year when I have 7 birthdays in quick succession. 3 have gone but I have 4 to go including an 18th and 21st. I’m thinking that the debt payments may slow a little so that I can put some money aside for gifts.
On the DIY front I got a task done this week that I had been putting off. I don’t think I’ve done too badly given that I have hand tools rather than mechanised ones other than an electric jigsaw type saw. I still have some work to do to complete the room but it’s a step further in the right direction.
I’m thinking that I ought to price up getting a laminate floor down in the kitchen. The carpet is well past it’s best and puppies bounding around hasn’t improved it’s state! Hopefully a job I can do before Job 1 starts again.
Its quite cloudy today with some heavy bursts of rain so will try to get out for a walk at some point.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Oh well done in securing a job interview, obviously impressed with your application. Is it a day job during the week, that you’d still have all weekend to spend with the children. I need a new kitchen it’s dated but I gave it lick of paint and put new flooring and made a big difference. I always had laminate in my kitchen but this time I changed to just vinyl/Lino and it is so much better cause it can get as wet as much as you want and I can steam clean it. It was also cheaper than laminate. Just an idea for you to consider. You can get some really nice colours.5

I'd agree with @Parkyp. Laminate is not the best flooring for kitchens or bathrooms as you have to be careful with getting it wet, even if you buy the so called waterproof stuff. I'd do vinyl/lino for the kitchen, much easier to keep clean and no worries about it getting wet.
Well done on getting an interview for the new job.

I got a thick vinyl for my kitchen that looks like wood.Good luck with the interview 🤞I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

We have vinyl for the kitchen but years of heavy traffic have ruined it.
I suppose that was inevitable.
It does work well for a kitchen, though.
Well done on getting an interview and doing the DIY. I hope all goes well.
Good idea to slow the debt repayments with so many birthdays coming up. Isn't it odd how birthdays come in bunches?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hi personally I dont recommend the vinyl as mine tore when an appliance was moved.....I now have a tiled floor and met the cost by buying the tiles online which was a lot cheaper. I`ve been very happy with it and cleaning it is really straightforward.4

I would agree with either vinyl or tiled for your kitchen rather than laminate. I have both, yes vinyl can tear, but also tiles can crack, though it's easier to replace single cracked tiles than the whole flooring of vinyl. It depends on what is in your kitchen area to what will best suit. I don't have any appliances that need pulling in and out in my vinyl bit and chose heavy duty stuff too, which look like tiles. For my tiled bit in my conservatory, it can be cold underfoot in winter, which isn't an issue if family don't go barefoot (and I'm the worst offender anyway!) and have kept a handful of spare tiles back and have had a couple that have broken replaced over the years. A reputable flooring company should talk you through the pros and cons of all flooring options and not just 'hard sell' their dearest option. You don't have to buy with them if out of budget.
Good luck with the interview for the new job. Do you mean you would do this as well as Job1 if you got it and not do job2, or is it a replacement for both job1 and job2?5
