Another gain for me this week but today for the first time in about a month I woke up without tooth pain :T so I must be finally healing hurrah *touch wood incase I've jinxed myself* I worked out that I managed to lose a tiny half a lb throughout the whole of Jan though so things can only improve I hope! Well done to the losers this week :T:T
I'm currently 1 stone heavier than I was this time last year and looking in the mirror I feel thoroughly fed up. So today is Day 1 of being back on plan. Did a Sainbobs shop yesterday and picked up loads of speedy healthy stuff including BNS chips yum (I did want squaffles but they were nowhere to be seen). Was surprised to see quite a lot of SP stuff in there - including broccoli rice which I'll have to try one time
So food for today:
B - 20g oat cheerios (1/2 hexb as you get loads) with 1/3 hexa milk & banana, cup of tea (1/3 hexa) and banana
L - chicken with flavoured cous cous (0.5 syn) and salad (lettuce tomatoes grated carrot)
Not sure on tea yet. Only did a shop yesterday and can't for the life of me remember what I boughtI have chicken in the freezer so that may well turn into something
On subject of SW chips I can never get them to turn out as I'm sure they should. I don't parboil them though as I find it a bit of a faff. I'm a bit lazy so I often do SW wedges instead of chips as you don't have to peel those and they often turn out ok when I don't parboil.
I'm quite fancying an Actifry lately or an air fryer. There's someone I follow on instagram who makes gorgeous looking things using her actifry and it's tempting me so much. Do any of you have one and are they worth the money would you say? I'm terrible with kitchen gadgets - end up using them a handful of times and relegating them to a cupboard somewhere
Off to make lunch now - hope you all have a good day0 -
Funnily enough Dad was saying last night Maman, he would like me to make a pie. I'm ignoring his request but should send him to your restaurant :rotfl:
Glad to hear that particular illness has been ruled out Kathyrn and hope they get to the bottom of it and you sorted quickly.
I'm 2.7 stone heavier than I was this time last year Candyapple so I know exactly how you feel! This time next year we will be looking back very glad that we did something about it.
Just back from the Drs with mother and my goodness there was a commotion going on which held us up. They had ordered an ambulance for a very large man and he was refusing to get in it. Lots of drama!!
The Dr said mum is low in iron after her op so she is to have a good amount of red meat and green veg for the next while.
Steaks it is for t then tonight. Doing mushrooms, onion, broccoli and green peas. I'm do some sort of potato or chip for them and pepper sauce. I'm doing a low carb day so I'll just have the veg and some syn some tomato sauce to have with mine.
Re SW Chips, I find Maris Piper or Cyprus Potatoes are the best and cut into quite thick chips. Skinny ones don't seem to work so well. I par boil mine until they are quite soft and then rough them up like you would a roast potato before putting them into the oven.
I'm surprised SW haven't put some ready made ones just to go in the oven. But maybe that's next!0 -
Tete - I microwave the chips for about 3 minutes. The sweet potato I did for 1 minute but don't think they needed doing at all as they were a bit overcooked.
When I cook them they take about 35 minutes. Put in oven for 15 minutes; turn cook 10 minutes, turn cook another 10 minutes. Oven temp 200 degrees.
Maman - I also have a fan oven but definitely hotter at the back of the oven than the front! Knew this from the way the food cooked but actually checked with oven thermometer as well.
Kathryn - sorry you've got to undergo more tests but at least you know it's not the big C.
Maman - definitely seems like the restaurant is cost cutting but at least you got a not too un SW friendly meal.
Candyapple - I haven't got an Actifry but quite a few people I know have them and absolutely love them. Unfortunately I haven't got enough work surface in the kitchen for another gadget. I'm one of those people if I put things in cupboards they don't get used so it would definitely have to keep it on the side.
Went to WI this morning and as expected a large gain of 5lb! But according to my scales I've lost at least 3lb! Will definitely need to stick to plan again this week and probably the week after as well to lose that lot.
Today's plan:
B - Tasters after WI - fortunately all Free Food (for Free Food Feb!)
L - boiled eggs; asparagus to dip
D - Spanish rice with chicken & chorizo - 1.5 syns for 12.5g of chorizo. I always add some extra paprika to it to increase the flavour.
HEA - milk
HEB - probably Ryvita with quark, ham & cucumber or possibly toast with Laughing Cow triangle
Other syns - not sure will decide later.

Candyapple- OH bought me an Actifry XL for Xmas and I make all sorts in it too- I made Nando's chicken for OH in it last week and he said it was delicious
would definitely say it's worth the money. I'm much the same as you but this has been very well used.

I have been thinking of getting an actifry but haven't been able to make up my mind which actifry was best for me. I was torn between the 2 in 1 actifry (but then saw in the reviews that you had to cook the chips separately or something?) Then the price has been fluctuating quite a bit on the different actifrys and it isn't really very clear what the difference is between them all plus my kitchen needs a good tidy up and so its still on my wish list. I've heard they make great chips however and yummy roast potatoes but it is a lot of money just to cook some chips although I think there are other things you can cook in it etc.
Today I have gone over my syns. Its been a disjointed kind of day where I have been incredibly hungry. I've decided however that I'm not keen on the fibre one bars - the caramel one wasn't as nice today. At nearly £3 a box (just for 5) its not worth it either in syns or in money.
I'm going to try the porky lights tonight and I'll report back :j0 -
Also TETE I have never tried Amaretto! Am I missing out??
Ohhhh it's lovely, it's my fave! But I do have a sweet tooth so might not be to everyone's taste, it's a bit like alcoholic marzipan. No idea how many Syns and don't want to know!
Taking underwear pics is pretty grim but really shows how your body is changing. I tend not to realise despite the numbers on the scales.
Flat Eric, sounds like you had a lovely anniversary evening!
Thanks Denise for the advice, will deffo try that method!
Kathrynha - glad it wasn't what it could have been. Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious.
Today:
B - Alpen Light
D - Mini Spanish tortillas (potato, onion, garlic, eggs) with mixed leaf salad, cherry tomatoes and cucumber; Muller Light
T - Heck zesty chicken sausages with roast veg (aubergine, red onion, carrot, mushroom, cherry tomatoes) and prob some boiled potatoes to fill me up
HEA - Milk
HEB - 1 Alpen Light and 6 almonds
Syns - Sugar in coffee (4), Heck sausages (1.5), Hula Pufts (3.5), Options hot choc (2) = 11
Weigh day tomorrow :eek:Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Good idea. Surely they couldn't manage to make chips watery and tasteless!:D:rotfl:0 -
