perthlady, welcome! In general, people seem to find online membership isn't worth the money. You'll pick up most of it from the early posts on this thread and anything else you want to know just ask. The 7 day menu plan and Google in general is good for recipes and ideas and there are some at the start of the thread too plus many of us post daily menus. I find I get most success from adapting 'real' recipes to SW and sometimes all you need to do is use Frylight instead of oil. What sort of things do you like to eat? Are you up for cooking from scratch with toddlers?

    Hello :)

Yes - Google is amazing! Everytime I need a syn value - straight on there and 95% of the time I find it no bother! :)

Cooking from scratch is mostly ok at least 5 days of the week - my husband tends to be the cook around here ;) We've had our toe in the waters with some SW recipes for a few months now but properly knuckling down and SYN counting now - my fizzy juice and junk food addiction was getting beyond control and sick of feeling unhappy with my shape and fitness. So far we'e had things like slow cooker lasagne with quark and cottage cheese, spag bol, chicken fried rice, chicken stir fry, beef casserole, sausage/lentil hotpot, chicken curry with chickpeas - a lot of what we had already but with slight tweaks to try and make them SW friendly!

Snacks/comfort food is where I am struggling - I am missing cake :( I love to bake and love all sorts of cakes and pastries and traybakes and genrerally anything sweet so struggling a lot! I have noted lots of sweet ideas from on here and FB but nothing seems as substantial as a piece of sponge cake :(

    :)

If I make cake or a sweet pastry I use Stevia or Splenda to sweeten and Pure vegetable spread. flour I am afraid, there is no substitute the cake scones or sweet pastry don't have as many Syns so when I really fancy something like cake , I use the above.:D

Hi perth lady, i live near your neck of the woods  but am going to classes and find them really motivating. Have you looked on pinterest for slimming world versions of cake? Lots of the recipies are american measurements but some really low syn deserts. Good luck with your journey.

    Today's plan is:
    Breakfast - yogurt
Lunch - at mums some I will eat something, and knowing mum it will be healthy
Dinner - got mince. Might do spag bol. Got to feed the rest of the family.

Going to try and keep busy this weekend

Only a half lb off for me this morning. Disappointed with that. My own scales showed the lowest I've seen in ages this morning so thought I wud have had about 2 off. Anyway as long as it's coming off. Hopefully get more off next week. Off to the gym now.

There's a website called Pinch of Nom that has lots of SW friendly recipes including one for jam and coconut cake that looks absolutely scrummy - the sort of thing you used to get for school dinner with custard. link here

The recipe uses coconut flour which makes it lower in Syns than standard flour.

    LL :)

ETA p.s. I just clicked the link in the recipe to find out more about coconut flour and although it's expensive, it's also gluten free, which might be of interest to some of us.
