  • Hello, haven't been online for a couple of days so have just skim read the last few pages. Lantanna and Kathrynha you sound like you're having a bit of a rough time so have a hug xx

Thanks for the chart Shala and congrats to Mary H!

I haven't been doing too well this week. Finished Monday on 15.5 Syns, then Tues was just mad busy and stressful and I got in from work at 9.30 and stuffed my face with three Fibre One bars, a load of nuts and two Amaretto and diet coke. Could have been worse I guess but still. And today I slept really late so have hardly eaten anything so far and now it's almost teatime! Ugh.

But I've been shopping so at least I'm stocked up on healthy food again. I went to The Big Asda for a change and was so overwhelmed by the choice of Mullerlight flavours that I came home with 14 of them  At least they'll satisfy a craving I suppose.

Tonight I'm doing Burger in a Bowl (but with light mayo instead of the special sauce in the recipe - I'd have had to buy a lot of new ingredients for only a tiny bit of each so it didn't seem worth it) and I've having my first go at SW chips! Hope they're as nice as everyone says.

Ooh, AND as it's the first of the month I thought I'd take some pics in my underwear to compare to my 1st Jan ones and can't believe the difference in the side view, though I look basically the same from the front? It simultaneously showed me how well I've done in January and reminded me that I've still got a way to go.

I quite often make SW chips but they never seem to look like they do in the magazine or online but this week they were perfect! The only difference was that I microwaved the potatoes rather than par boiling them.

Trying them again tonight that way to see whether it was just a fluke or whether that's a better way to do them!

Will let everyone know either later this evening or tomorrow!

  • Hi,

I really haven't mastered the art of SW chips. Made them last week and they went in the bin.

I have just had two massive stuffed mushrooms, totally free. I have been struggling today and there is chocolate in the house which is tempting me but so far I have resisted. I also had a plum which was gorgeous, must buy them more often.

Instead of the chocolate, I'm off to make myself a mug of options hot choc, only a couple of syns I think. Hopefully it will satisfy a craving.

My shopping is being delivered later so I will have something else then when I have more syn free things to choose from!

Reading all your posts really helps me keep on track x

The other thing I do when I make SW chips is cook them for 15 mins then turn 90 degrees, cook another 10 minutes, turn another 90 degrees and cook for a final 10 minutes. Seems to help cook them a bit more evenly.

The ones I'm cooking tonight are looking good again so looks like the microwaving rather than par boiling works better.

  • I'm not sure how I go wrong with the SW chips. On the other hand, I make fabulous SW roast potatoes!

Is is strange to say I'm looking forward to my weigh in?!

Hello. Long time since I posted. Very disheartened.
After the first weeks lose of 3.5lbs I've stayed the same. Stuck to plan more or less all of the time.
Tomorrow I'm going to start a food diary to see if that will help.

A food diary will definitely help. Have it with you the whole time along with a pen, so you can write stuff down straight away.
I find it keeps me on track. Also sometimes when I think I have done badly, I calculate the syns at the end of the day, and realise it wasn't as bad as I thought, which gives me the boost not to ruin the next day too

Sweet potatoes don't crisp up as well as white potatoes! But definitely better microwaving rather than par boiling for a more even cooking.
