    morning all,

slight update for yesterday - caved and have two chocolates when the box when round the office - but this still was a total of 12syns so slightly under!

Thanks Shala - haven't done much exercise before so hopefully I just need to persevere!

    So plan for today

    B: FF Yogurt and blackberrys
    L: Chicken Salad
D: Beef casserole and mash (lots of veg and onion added)
    Snacks - carrot sticks
    HEA Milk HEB Nuts

Syns - 5 leftover stuffing, 3 syns gravy in dinner
    walk 2018 miles in 2018 - 781 of 2018
Save £5 for every PR: 10 of 35
  • Thank you for the chart Shala and congratulations on SOTW Haylaluru.

I am going to cook up some chicken pieces and hardboil some eggs today for late night snacks.

I went out yesterday and got back late, then had 6 ryvita with butter because I was "hungry".

I can't have really been hungry as I went off plan during the day and ate far too much (no time to prepare).
I think it's just a silly habit but I need to have something ready for when I crave food.

I get very cross with myself after I've eaten such a lot, but it's as though my brain is taken over by greedy aliens.

    Today's menu
Breakfast Porridge (HEXB) with berries from freezer
Lunch stuffed peppers with rice and feta cheese (HEXA), salad, fruit
Dinner trout fillet with vegetables (not sure about potato yet - see how I feel)
Snacks - carrots during the day, chicken after dinner if I need it.

Hope everyone has a great day x

  • Hi summer lady,

Don't beat yourself up too much. It's understandable to slip up if there is nothing at hand that is tasty and allowed. I'm trying hard with this too and am determined to batch cook, even just small things for when I get tempted.

I love the stuffed peppers and see you are having these too. I make an oven tray full and they keep for days. I use cous cous and then have Thai sweet chilli sauce on top. Soooo good. I'm just about to make a big pot of lentil soup. Totally free I believe and really lovely.

Keep going and don't be too hard on yourself!

I suffer with those greedy aliens too.
I now always have something free I can grab easily in the fridge. When I'm organised it's chicken breast, SW quiche (done in bun tins so nice size) or hard boiled egg. When I'm unorganised it's Muller light yogurts.
Some Mug shots are also free, and easy to get quickly, although I can't have them because I'm allergic to all the syn free flavours :(

If you like pickles, I find gherkins, onions and beetroot good to have in the fridge at all times and they are speed :)

I've managed a 5 syn day today but needed to as the weekend went to pot. I'm blaming hubby who came home with a fresh tiger loaf, bread is one of my big downfalls! I don't think that there is anybody in the world that would be able to resist that!

Do you guys generally try to reduce syns if you have a blow out or do you draw a line under it and continue with your 15 syns a day? Or perhaps a combination of both? Just curious.

A mixture of both seems to work best for me. Usually I will have one night off plan depending on how bad I am going to be I try to bank most of them for that.

I can thoroughly recommend Lidl's cornichons. They're a bit smaller, less vinegary than gherkins and have a lovely nutty taste. This is the big jar not the Extra Fin tiny cocktail ones.

Sorry about that enormous jar, then no room to type anything else!:o

I've noticed that a few posters don't seem to be having any/many carbs. It could be that you're trying to do a version of EESP which is fair enough but don't make yourself hungry. It's been so cold here the past couple of days that a salad for my main meal wouldn't cut it.:)

Lentil soup (my favourite:drool:) is free and if you put loads of veg in it then it makes a EESP meal in itself. I add carrots, onions and leeks. wiz, I know you add a few peas (Protein) to your recipe and some corn. If you used baby sweetcorn then it would be EESP.

I'm out this evening but I know the pub I'm going to does salads and baby potatoes alongside steaks so I'll probably have that rather than chips. I'll still be over syns but it all helps.:)

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB porage with HEA milk
L: ham, fried LO veg (1 potato) and pickles
    D: as above
Syns: squirt of syrup, midweek wine:eek:

Hi all. Just popping in to say that I am still here - without internet in the new house so I can only jump on during my breaks at work. Have been half on plan and half off, but making a concerted effort to try and get back to it. Bit difficult to see exactly what effect this is all having on my weight as I won't be bale to pick up the scales from the flat until the weekend.

    Today's EE plan is:

B - HEB porridge with 1/2 HEA oat milk, blueberries and an apple on the side
L - HM Minestrone soup (chopped tomatoes, celery, carrots, potato, pasta, kale), 2 clementines
D - Loaded butternut squaffles (butternut squaffles, vege mince, peppers, red onion, tomatoes, ff natural yogurt, 1/2 HEA of cheese)
S - Caramel fibre one bar (4.5 syns), strawberries, blueberries, quark

Yes, I am one of those who have jumped on sainsbury's "alternative to carbs" trend, but just because they were in the yellow sticker section!

Does anyone know the syns in the Sainsbury's vegetarian mince? It was on offer at the weekend and picked it up rather than the quorn one as we're trying to cut back where we can.
