SP will have been introduced since you got your books lurker and there are a few changes to the Speed (formerly Superfree) list. There's a link in the first couple of posts and just ask if you need any syn values.
Good luck kathryn. Have you bought Frylight? You'll definitely need that.
I was wondering about the SP and speed stuff too. Think mine and Lurker's books are about the same age.
Yes I have a spray oil. Only problem is my good sauce pans aren't non-stick, although my frying pan is. Will have to see how I go with the spray oil, because I really don't want to replace my pans, although I could probably get away with just buying one pan, as I don't need non-stick for rice/pasta/veg etc, just the meat.Zebras rock0 -
You don't have to syn them kim but if you want to eat them then you wouldn't be doing full on SP and you shouldn't have the additional HEX. If you think of it as a spectrum with EESP at one end and EE at the other the closer you can get to that 50:50 with no free food the better but a small amount if you fancy it is better for weightloss than doing the third speed with the rest free food. So the greater the proportion of Speed the better.
Hi Maman
But I'd have syns still on SP.
So if I wanted to spend those on bananas & mullers - how would I syn them?0 -
Hi all,
I am new to SW and will be joining tomorrow, wish me luck!!
I have a holiday in June to aim for.
Put me down for 16lbs please0 -
Hi, I'm new to the forum, although have done Slimming World before. Really need to get properly focused on it this year as the weight is gradually creeping higher and higher!
Please can you add me to the challenge. I'm aiming for 12lb by the end of Feb.0 -

Happy New Year all and welcome to all newbies
An amazing -1lb for todays weigh in (not sure if it should be on this challenge or the last one though)
Target for Fab for Feb is 5lbs please Shala. This will bring me into 'normal' BMI if I can do it and just into the 10 stone bracket.

SW doesn't have syn values for what they call free foods, the point being that you don't have to measure/count these so it's simpler to use the plan. If you wanted to syn anything I'd syn the second Healthy Extra B (6 syns) that you get on a SP day...
To me, the best part of SW is that you can still eat lots of (free) food and still lose weight.:T Seriously, I eat a huge amount every day, much, much more that I every did before I started SW and managed to lose over 6 stone since Aug 15. But at the start I really struggled with the concept of free food until I saw the results.0 -
Thanks for the guidance on SP; I'll go through the link but in the meantime will try to stick with EE as I'm (sort of) familiar with it. Will post a few days of menus if you don't mind so people can point out where I'm going wrong!
Menu for tomorrow
B Shreddies HEB
L Couscous with chicken breast, cherry toms, cucumber. Apple
D Salmon with broccoli, Carrot and Swede mash (made some today as I got a cheap swede and it made a lot more than I thought so will feature a lot over the coming days!) Activia 0% fat yoghurt ( which I think is also free)
HEA Milk for tea
Not sure on syns just yet...possibly a granola bar for a snack but 9.5 seems a lot! (nature valley bars)0 -
Would like to join, need to get my act together as I'm getting older!! Have been overweight/obese ever since my son was born (can't blame baby weight after 19 years)
Have been sucessfell in the past losing 2 or 3 stone at a time however seem to always lose focus (blame holidays and a love of prosseco)
Started Slimming world in November and lost a stone (5lbs back on over Xmas)
Aiming for 15lb loss by end of Feb.MFW 2017 No 41 £835.79/£1000
Mortgage at December 2015. £55003.41

Do post your menus for as long as you want. Lots of us do it every day. I do it as a sort of food diary and it helps me stay on plan.0 -
I'm struggling to understand the syn bit on SP.
So I still get 5-15 syns a day.
But rather than spend them on a yogurt & a banana I can't because they are "free food" I could have a chocolate bar instead!
That seems really silly.
SP is practically forcing you to spend your syns on naughty foods (iykwim) rather than wholesome food!
Is it roughly half a syn per 20 calories?
I guess I could work it out like that.0
