I'm struggling to understand the syn bit on SP.
So I still get 5-15 syns a day.
But rather than spend them on a yogurt & a banana I can't because they are "free food" I could have a chocolate bar instead!
That seems really silly.
SP is practically forcing you to spend your syns on naughty foods (iykwim) rather than wholesome food!
Is it roughly half a syn per 20 calories?
I guess I could work it out like that.
If you want to have foods such as yoghurt and/or bananas then you need to just do EE days rather than EESP. I appreciate what you're saying but that is how SW seems to be working. No one really understands it but you just need to accept it!

I'd like to join in although don't want to set a target for the 8 weeks as doing that doesn't work for me. Forgot to weigh in this morning with it being the holiday, so will be doing it (and my measurements) tomorrow.SPCNo.18 #20 (17 £562.86 16 £678; 15 £1120.92; 14 £416.53; 13 £191.52; 12 £260.48; 11 £480.95; 10 £682.31; 9 £442.64)

1 syn per 20 calories I think but I'm prepared to be corrected.
I think you might be over complicating it - I did at the start because it seemed too easy if that makes sense? I try and use syns for extra cereal, dairy inc cheese, bread and sauces, stuff like that. It's not that I don't want chocolate, biscuits and sweets but since I don't have an off switch for sugar I try and avoid them altogether (Lets just ignore the divine chocolate brownie that I had at lunch time, shall we) Others save their syns over a week to allow for more relaxed weekends or things like eating out
Like Maman said SP isn't designed for long periods - it's a bit of a boost plan to get you started or to get over a plateau. EE is the more realistic day to day, lifelong plan. I never went to classes but I was an online member for over a year which meant that I had access to all the official info, the syns list and a food diary. I needed that to learn how to make SW work for me and of course all the support on this thread.
Maybe try doing SW as per their plan for a week or two just to get into the swing of things without worrying about counting yoghurts/bananas/free foods and use your syns as and if you need them? Never feel obliged to have a bar of chocolate  unless you really want one but it is amazing how those syns get used up with bits and bobs of stuff like sauce/butter/cheese lewt alone the odd biscuit...or that could just be me
Post your menus here, that really helps too, forces you to plan plus the gurus will spot any unaccounted for syns.0 -

The thing with SW Syns is that they're intended to be used for treats, and you don't have to use them all if you don't want to. SP is less flexible than EE but it can have good results so it's worth trying for short periods if you're struggling. For new starters EE is the best plan to follow as it helps you get to grips with the difference between foods, i.e. which are protein, speed and free. When you're clear about that you can give SP a go, focussing on speed and protein.

It can be confusing and IMO Slimming World keep it a bit mysterious because they want it that way.
One way of thinking about it is that SP is a low carb version of the eating plan to be used as a boost either to get you started or because your weightloss has stalled.
The reason you can still have syns is that SW believes you should still have treats otherwise you'll feel deprived and give up.
Are your questions just to try to get your head round it or because there are foods you can't eat for medical reasons so think SP may be better for you than Extra Easy?:)0 -

Morning,
I'm back, just found the new thread. Off to catch up - be back to comment later.
10 lbs for me please Shala0 -
Good morning all - went to the old thread and thought I must have lost you all but I've found you
small gain over Christmas of 2lb but no sweat
not been well the past few days so not amazingly on plan or anything but done what I can when I can
today; back to work and littlie's first day at the childminder. I'm sure she'll be find and she's been excited about it we will see when OH picks her up after lunch.
last night I got everything sorted to make this morning as smooth and as quick as possible as I want to make the most of the extra we have to pay the childminder over nursery. it went really well and we left just 5 mins later than my initial target so that was great. I was in work a full hour early :O
food today:
pre work - nothing except a small glass of NAS squash
breakfast (at my desk): porridge (40g oats heb, 125ml ss milk 1/2 hea) plus a beanies gingerbread coffee (free, milk from remaining hea) and an apple
lunch: I have bought in some super speedy chile con carne (2 speeds and 2 protein sources) and a potato to bing in the microzapper
snacks for work: tub of melon chunks with some free flavoured quark. a passionfruit. treat sized flake (2.5syn)
drinks: 250ml can coke zero (free), water, Ribena winter spice. have enough milk for 2 more cuppas
tea: I'm thinking baked fish plus beetroot, mushroom, red cabbage and pickled onions and maybe a couple of syns of light mayo. maybe some homemade (free) wedges
keeping tea very light as I want to do my fitness dvd again before tea. will do a walk at lunch to Barclays as I need to update my name on my masters loan and I'd like a settlement figure if possible************************************

hello again to all the newbies and regulars
Just think I was once you ...starting off and v confuzled. Since August 2016 I have lost 3 stone 4.5lb
I too was feeling equally confused and didn't really understand the plan and went on to lose 7lb in the first week! I still don't understand it. I read the SW website success stories for inspiration and encouragement
my advice would be just do it, follow one of the online weekly menus to begin with and look at what the other posters have on their meal plan..post your own food and these lovelies will help you with ideas. It works :j it really does work
frylight, fruit and vegetables are your best friends!
skinny hugs to all :rotfl:0
