Hello all and a happy new year to you all - just checking in to mark my spot for the challenge (thanks again Shala for looking after us) Please put me down for 8 lb loss for the challenge - I hope to lose more and I've been fannying around with the same 2 or 3 lbs up and down for months now I really need to get my act together. WI on Saturday past saw a 1.5lb loss - but I think I can put most of that down to the stomach bug I had last week.
We've got a voucher for a restaurant which needs using up so we're going out there tonight - it's not a bit healthy there but I'll try to get the best option, probably a steak or some salmon. Back to work tomorrow which makes me sad but the routine is better for me. Going to make a crustless quiche for our lunches for the next few days and plan, plan, plan. Plus - no booze through the week0 -
Welcome to the new joiners and welcome back to the returners. Good luck to everyone for your goals, both in this challenge and for the rest of the year, we can do it, and we're stronger together. :j
Well said lois and well done on your loss!:T I think this thread gives huge support and just the right amount of accountability without being judgemental.
Danish Blue is a HEA so you've not gone too far wrong. Do you have a recipe fro the soup/cauli cheese? I love it and I'm always looking for ways to cut back on syns. (Aren't' we all?:rotfl:).So I have finally joined slimming world but doing it online as there are no meetings near me which I'm able to go to.
Well done for taking the plunge Amy. I'm not sure how long you have to sign up for online but maybe once you get the hang of the plan you'll be able to manage on your own and with the thread. Just keep asking questions.
denise is right that SP isn't designed to be a long term plan kim but if there are foods you need to avoid for health reasons then it's relatively simple to tweak things and we could help with ideas. Basically SP is 50:50 Speed fruit/veg and lean protein and no free foods like carbs or yogurts or nonSpeed fruits like grapes and bananas. It's limited and more like a diet than Extra Easy. I occasionally have a EESP day and often have SP meals. My go to for dinner on a SP day is cottage pie done with a swede and carrot mash topping instead of potatoes. Breakfasts and lunches are much easier. My favourites are probably lentil and veg soup or a veggie omelette or both! I generally have my HEB as toast or cereal at breakfast but you could have a fry up if you have the time.
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, raspberries with Total 0%, 2 boiled eggs, HEB toast
L: LO veg fried with some hamsavoury mince, new potatoes, carrots and cabbage
Syns: NONE!!!0 -

I used this recipe for the soup but left out the butter, cream and milk (they're not necessary, although I'm sure it would be delicious!) I didn't realise blue cheese was on the list, I did search for Stilton and that wasn't there, but anyway, I only used 300ml of stock and reduced the amount of cheese to 120g and it was still tasty enough and did plenty for 4 people. Next time I might put a little bit more cheese in and syn it. I made the soup in advance with a whole cauliflower and then used an additional cauliflower and some broccoli - I steamed them until just tender then poured the soup over them and put it in the oven for about 25mins.

That sounds lovely Lois I think I'll do that tomorrow night. Thank you xx
It seems Asda have brought out a range of ready meals that are "free" there is a huge hoohaa on Facebook. Slimzone is their name - direct competition to the Iceland meals and packaging is very similar. If anyone tries them let us know what you think as they maybe good as a stand by and are same size and 50p cheaper.0 -
I'm new on here. Not officially started yet, because the meeting that fits with my life is a Tuesday evening, but I'm all ready to go. Been shopping today and have lots of fruit and veg in, as well as lean meat, as I know they are probably all fine on the plan, although I might have to do a small shop once I know more about the plan. Haven't done slimming world for almost 5 years, so assuming some stuff has changed.
Until I have my initial weigh in I don't know what my total weight loss goal will be, but expecting it to be 10-11stones. Yes I know that's a hideous amount to lose, but I need to get started on it, and my frame of mind is right now.
For the 8 week challenge I am setting myself a target of 1 stone. It's a lot, but I think it is achievable.Zebras rock0 -
Hi,
I'm new to this board but I'd like to join your challenge please! I'll aim for 8lb please. I attend a group on a Thursday and I know this week is a gain after far too much fun over Christmas and new year! Am back on plan now though 🙂
Thanks!Debt to clear: feels endless...
Weight loss to go: 42lb/13.5lb
Maybe someday i'll be skinny, organised and debt free..

Hi there,
As the name suggests I've lurked for a long, long time but finally decided to bite the bullet and join you all.
Milestone birthday at the end of the year which I guess has prompted me to finally take action and I have put on about 5kg in the past 3 months or so. I think for the challenge I'll go for 10lbs please Shala just to see how I get on now I'm accountable to others rather than just myself!
I'm going to try to do without class, I have the books from almost 5 years ago but obviously owning them alone isn't enough :rotfl:. Hopefully things will be easier when I'm back at work with a routine though I do need to stop buying snacks for the train (especially if there are Christmas goodies reduced!).0 -

How much is a banana or a muller?0 -
Welcome to kathryn, lurker and tinkabell. It's great to see new members.:)
SP will have been introduced since you got your books lurker and there are a few changes to the Speed (formerly Superfree) list. There's a link in the first couple of posts and just ask if you need any syn values.Basically SP is 50:50 Speed fruit/veg and lean protein and no free foods like carbs or yogurts or nonSpeed fruits like grapes and bananas
So you have to syn yogurts & banana & things?

You don't have to syn them kim but if you want to eat them then you wouldn't be doing full on SP and you shouldn't have the additional HEX. If you think of it as a spectrum with EESP at one end and EE at the other the closer you can get to that 50:50 with no free food the better but a small amount if you fancy it is better for weightloss than doing the third speed with the rest free food. So the greater the proportion of Speed the better.
Good luck kathryn. Have you bought Frylight? You'll definitely need that.
Thanks for the soup recipe lois and the heads up on Slimzone midge. I think I'll investigate in case they do any different things.
Change of plan here. I realised I had swede to use up so I've made a cottage pie with carrot and swede mash. So an SP dinner but not an SP day as I had yogurt for breakfast and some fried potatoes with my lunch. All helps though. I'd love STS this week. I think a loss is too much to hope for after NYE:).0 -
Oh, this is exciting; so many new people to get to know - the more the merrier.
And so it begins. Weighed this morning to get my starting point and discovered it wasn't as bad as I expected (just over 3 lbs on). Do not record this, shala, please. I'll give my first real result next Monday, even if it means I'll have one week less for the challenge.
Breakfast: hexb All Bran and banana, little hexa milk
Lunch: baked potato with prawn mayo (1) and mixed salad
Snack: Borders Golden Oat Biscuit (3 ½ )
Dinner: pork steaks, potatoes, cauliflower & peas, apple sauce (1), ML Greek style lemon yogurt ( ½ )
Snack: 2 Ryvita green and black olive crackers (2 ½ ), pate (5) – I need to use this up!
Total syns: 13 ½
Does anyone know the syn value of Muscle Foods’ chorizo style pork sausages or of their Cumberland sausages? I got these in a pack of other meats and I’d like to know whether I should feed them all to DH and buy others for me.
