  • Oh dear, I've had 35 syns today, most of it this evening. I have an uncontrollable urge to eat chocolate. 35 syns doesn't even seem to get me that much chocolate! I want more!

Need to stop. Roll on tomorrow.

Good to see you back meg . I'm bang on the top of my target range but I'm another March birthday and it's Mothers' Day (both fortunately at weekends when I have syns in the bank) BUT we're going to Prague and Budapest for a week and I've heard the food is er....quite filling.

Good to have you join us lizzie .It's frustrating when weightloss stalls. Planning and Speed are the best ways forward IMO and if you have time post your menus. It helps with planning, acts like a food diary and gives a bit of accountability.

kathryna , I found that the food was disgusting in hospital but thankfully was only there by accident for one night. I did drink loads of water though to get the kidneys working so that's a positive. You should feel fine afterwards as it's not invasive surgery and you're not having an anaesthetic. This might be a good time to try the ready meals or persuade the family they can manage to cook a jacket potato! :rotfl:

I enjoyed my curry although still finding the recipe a bit watery (more or less copying the Iceland jalfrezi) so any tried and tested recipes welcome. Didn't need more Speed as, other than chicken and spices, it's just tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, peppers and spinach.

My secret weapon for curries is Pataks curry paste (not the sauce) - 2 syns per tablespoon. I live in an area with a wealth of Asian grocers and restaurants and the Pataks paste was recommended by an Asian lady, who told me she never faffed around with the real spices!!

So - Frylight onions and garlic till soft, add chicken (or whatever meat you like) and fry till coloured, add 1 tablespoon of curry paste per portion and continue to fry for a few minutes, stirring so the paste coats the meat and onion, add vegetables as required, then a 400g tin of tomatoes (for 3-4 portions) bring to boil then simmer till meat is cooked. Stir occasionally to stop it catching. You can add a little water if you like the sauce a bit thinner.

Works well for veggie curries too.

I serve it with rice, a salad of tomato, cucumber and onion with a sauce made of 0% greek yoghurt, mint and a touch of chilli powder.
    HTH!

To add, the pastes come in different 'flavours' - I find the madras one a good all rounder.

Thanks for that. 2 syns for a decent curry sounds like a good use of syns. I'll look out the curry paste. I think I may have seen it in B&M Bargains.

Maman it's in all the main supermarkets usually and I think I've seen it in B&M.
