A maintain for me this week which I was pleased with. I found it a struggle this week - and self sabotaged quite a bit.
I have a meal plan of sorts in my head for the week ahead. I think I am going to be better writing seven meals down and then deciding each day what I want rather than religiously planning tonight its Thursday, I'm having this. Hope everyone is well. Hugs to all who need them. Off to catch up with all the posts.0 -
My shopping also increased for the first couple of weeks, whilst I stocked up on herbs, spices, different flavour fry light sprays, but is now back to normal, in fact I may be spending a little bit less as I am making my own lunches and breakfasts every day and not popping out for a pastry or sandwich etc. However, the whole family eat slimming world dinners (although not lunches or breakfasts) which may help a bit. I've also started buying frozen fruit eg berries as there is no waste and they work out cheaper.
Ali-T I too thought quark was the food of the devil and tasted horrible. Although, it is good to use in recipes as a replacement. I use it in chocolate and orange trifle, raspberry and white chocolate and raspberry trifle and means its only 5 syns for an entire trifle that easily feeds 8, I also use in the sauce for SW chicken and mushroom pies and added into soups, it makes them really creamy.Well Behaved women seldom make history

My shopping I think is cheaper now, but you need to pick your fruit and veg carefully.
I use a lot of mushrooms, carrots, courgettes and tomatoes to fill out any mince I cook, but I have swapped the fresh tomatoes to tinned ones, and I'm missing out the courgette at the moment because the shortages have put the price up.
Also salads, instead of buying lettuce that has gone up in price, I am buying watercress, peashoots, and stuff like that instead, although Mum did buy me some iceberg lettuce earlier. Had to laugh, due to shortages, Morrisons have put up the price of icebergs to more than double what they normally are, and now they have a load to sell off on yellow sticker
Fresh fruit at this time of year is mainly apples and oranges, not berries and melon which are out of season and more expensive.Zebras rock0 -
Hello
Can I join you please
?
I joined Slimming World last May, and I'd lost 2 and a half stone by DecemberI've been struggling since then
Christmas got me the taste of chocolate back
and I put on 4lbs over Christmas, i've lost a bit, put on a bit, lost a bit more ever since. Feel like I've completely wasted an entire month
I guess it doesn't really help that half the family I go with rejoined after Christmas so they've all had the new start big losses, and my mum is the most irritating woman ever, who lost every week for an entire year! We weigh in tonight and she's expecting to get her 8 stone award!
I'm struggling a little now with finding the balance between being 20something and wanting to do fun stuff with my boyfriend and friends, and trying to lose weight.
Sorry I just appear and all I do is whinge! I've not been well so I don't have a clue what the scales are going to say tonight, wish me luck! xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.

Ugh a measly 1/2 off But I normally weigh in first thing in the morning so weighing in after lunch may have not helped but I thought I had been really good all week. Will persevere and hope it comes off next weekThanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

Been a busy day today, what with group this morning followed by shopping. Have had a new chest freezer delivered this afternoon so that is now in place. Just waiting for the gases to disperse (have to leave it until 7.30pm) and can then switch on.
My inside freezer is so full I'm having trouble closing the drawers. Will be good to get some stuff out in the new one tomorrow. Need to buy some more meat but don't fancy going to the butchers at the weekend so will leave until some time next week.
Flat Eric - deciding on 7 meals for the week and then choosing each day is as good a way as any to meal plan. You're still buying food to fit your plan. Another way of doing it is to shop and then meal plan around what you buy but I've always found I spend loads of money but don't actually have the right food to make a weeks food. Definitely not the way for me!
Not a happy bunny after WI today as have put on 0.5lb - thought I'd stuck to plan enough to have lost at least 0.5lb. Oh well another week coming up. Must try harder, LOL!
Today's plan:
B - grapes - after WI
L - boiled eggs, asparagus, plum
D - LO mixed bean goulash, rice
S - Ryvita; topped with quark, ham, cucumber
HEA - milk
HEB - Ryvita
Syns - biscuits 3; not sure what else

quark anyone?
We actually quite like quark, don't get the instead of sweet stuff thing... eg mixed with squash... it just tastes like a yogurt, why not just eat a yogurt...
but instead of creme fraiche as a pasta sauce, or mixed with basil and garlic and stuffed in a chicken breast then wrapped in bacon yum!
We also use it to make things creamy like mash, or soup
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.

Since starting sw I find I'm spending less on groceries but think thats because I'm using my freezer more and not wasting as much as i used to. Making soups from leftover veg or using next day and keeping the bread in the freezer now we're not eating so much of it and take a slice or two out as we need it.
As for quark i loved it for a couple of weeks but I now I've discovered Skyr which I find much more versatile.
Haven't figured out how to quote yet :rotfl:2019 Weight Loss Goals
Goal 1 8.25/10lbs
Goal 2 8.25/22lbs0 -
Welcome pixtotts. I'd say get back seriously on plan, lose the weight you want and then you can relax a bit when you're at target. You can still have fun with your friends but think hard about how and when to use your syns. A number of us here bank them to use for weekends or eating out.:)
Sorry to hear some of you are disappointed with losses. Onwards and downwards.:)I have a meal plan of sorts in my head for the week ahead. Me neither, denise. I think just walking around the supermarket putting stuff in the trolley without a plan is a sure fire way to waste money and not have any proper meals.
FE, I'd suggest you write down your 7 meals but build in flexibility. So have a mix of meals that will take some time and effort to cook but also things you can cook quickly especially from frozen. Then you can pick and choose depending on how busy/tired/hungry you are. I find that having things from the freezer on the list means that if plans change (say I've forgotten we're eating out or we have an unexpected invitation) then it can stay in the freezer for another night. I enjoy cooking at weekends when I have the time and if you can double up on recipes to make a HM ready meal for the freezer or leftovers for lunch then so much the better.
I'm sure planning is the most important part of SW (Next to Speed of course;)).0 -
