I think one of the problems MrsR is that your disability means you can't completely cook from scratch without your OH.

Like kathryna I do most of our shopping in Aldi. I reckon (not counting wine syns) I spend little more than a third of what you've spent this week.
  • Hi all, thanks for all the comments about the Asda meals - like I said, I've not seen much about them apart from the furore and hadn't realised they were actually using SW terminology - that makes sense then! Strange (suspicious) that they won't disclose the nutrition info though... An unpopular opinion here but I actually like the Iceland meals! (The cafe mentioned is near me I think (if it's the same one), though I've never been).

Well I had a lovely day out yesterday. Breakfast was satsumas and a mullerlight, then for lunch I had a chicken, pesto and cheese toasted burrito. My friend had the same thing in panini form and mine was definitely the better choice - there was less cheese to make way for the rice in the burrito and of course less bread. Not that it was healthy, but it was better than it could have been! Had an apple juice with it, then later went to Betty's and had an Engadine Torte and a coffee. By the time I got home it was late and I was still full so I just made a 2 Syn hot chocolate and went to bed.

Kathryn there are definitely no syns in wallpaper paste so you're fine for yesterday - hope you're up and about again soon.

GT - great news about the all clear!

Lantanna - Argh, yes I've been meaning to update that diary for a while as it's my birthday on Sunday, but I'm nervous to look back at all the things I'd wanted to achieve by then as I've been doing more plodding than progressing lately :o

Well I have my food planned for today but will update later with all syns etc. Taking granny to yet another hospital appointment this aft, but for now I'm toasty in bed with coffee and book! Have a good day all!

Morning all! Plodding along here as well Tete, don't worry about it!

Average weekly spend is about £50 in sainsbobs but managed to get that down recently bu buying what's on offer and meal planning a bit better so we only buy what we need and I don't have a big stock pile of food in the cupboards.

Received my first order from Musclefood today - £40 for what I've worked out is a month's worth of meals. Just need to top up with the fruit and veg, but have heard good things so I'm quite excited to open it up when I get home tonight.

    Today's plan:

B - Porridge (HEB and HEA), porridge
L - Subway salad, probably turkey
D - Falafel bites (3.5 syns), potato wedges, salad
S - Pear, clementines, alpen light bar (3 syns)

    Hi all
Yes that's pretty true maman- although still no kitchen as yet :D they're delivering tomorrow and fitting begins Monday so not much longer :j
When I'm at the gym I have access to Aldi and Asda as they're both just next to the gym and I try to make use of them where I can. I don't buy frozen fruit as I just haven't the freezer space so if I want fruit it has to be fresh although all of my veg is frozen.
Our shopping bill at weekends is big because OH refuses to shop at Aldi and he has a very heavy manual job so naturally he eats more. He also won't buy unbranded stuff but I'm not bothered about it for myself. Before I went back on SW a Saturday shop lasted the week it was supposed to :D OH pays for the weekend shop so I have to go along with what he wants although sometimes as I say I'll buy bits in Aldi for myself with my own money.
Things like yoghurts as well- Light and Free are £2.50 a pop! I try to stock up when they're on offer but I've noticed that Mullerlights tend to be perpetually on offer!
    End of moan :D

Heres Thursday and we are getting closer to the weekend!

Roll on Weigh in on Saturday - get it over with and also for weekend Gin!

I can see your problem MrsR but as your OH is paying then that's up to him what he spends his money on (not that I agree with him about Aldi;)). Freezer space is another issue of course. When we had our kitchen done last I was able to move the washing machine out so now I have two undercounter freezers. It does mean I can save by buying YS meat and fish and make my own ready meals. Good luck with the refit next week.:)

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB bread, kippers, HEA milk
    L: ham, pickles, fried veg
    D: SW spaghetti Bolognese
Syns: kippers (1.5?) scrape of spread and maybe Parmesan if I don't go easy on the milk.

Our shopping cost has increased hugely since starting at SW. We used to be able to do a weekly shop for £35-40 but its now closer to £80 with the amount of fruit, veg, alpen bars and meat we are buying. It probably equals out as we haven't had many takeaways and the freezer is full but we do throw away a fair bit of stuff that we make and don't like - quark anyone? The mantra at the moment is spending £'s to lose lbs.
