I think you were meaning me when you said 2 book cases :rotfl: I donated 40+ books to the local phonebox library last year...didn't even make a dent in the approx 300 I can see in my ridiculously large bookcase from my bed oops!
I totally get the music magpie not worth anything feeling though :( the 40 I donated I tried on there and nothing worth over 20p figured donating was less hassle.

    so to start my list

    1. cleared out the big pile of paperwork I was avoiding.
    2. listed a bundle on ebay if they don't sell - charity shop
I hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....

    342. Novelty Easter bag thing
    343. Toy
    344. T-shirt
    345. (Another) Pile of receipts
    346. Instruction manuals
    347. Brand New Unopened pack of coasters - bought these about 10 years ago. Figure if I've not used them by now, I never will! Off to the charity shop they go.

Oh and woman who was supposed to be buying the toy never turned up. I'd say at least 75% of the online sales I've made (as well as the stuff I've tried to give away on free sites and the like) have been no shows. If it were me I'd cancel in advance or at least be apologising profusely for keeping someone waiting. I'd be mortified, but these people rarely ever bother giving an explanation or apology I find. Very annoying! Rant over, I'm off to bed!

I know how you feel here KitKatMum!

I've had some odd bits listed on some fb selling groups since more or less the beginning of the year now, been bumping up the posts everyday(group rules say only bump once a day...) and only since the weekend just gone I've had a flurry of comments from lots of different people asking for lots of the items so I PM them to arrange delivery/collection/meeting somewhere and they either don't reply, don't turn up or this one lady in particular for about 4 days was giving me different excuses every day as to why she couldn't buy the items she wanted off me...

Why even comment on my post if you have no intention of buying anything?! So annoying!

What I have done now is sift through the stuff and anything that was cheap to buy(I had a couple of primark tops in there I didn't pay much for at all) have gone into the charity shop bag and I'm going to delete the old posts and make brand new ones listing everything back up for sale again, and probably put something like

"lots back up for sale at reduced prices due to timewasters"

    :p
  • OH went through his clothes and we now have 5 football tops to eBay, a bin liner of clothes for the charity shop and several items into the bin.

Sold my music poster collection on the band's website forum for another £300 so they were shipped off this morning. Trip to Ikea planned tomorrow to get a couple of frames to hang the ones I decided to keep for my study. 3 old CD boxes in the bin as their contents have gone, and another shelf of books from my study gone.

  • I find Facebook selling groups the worst Gemma. I had one woman claim her and her kids were ill so she'd not been able to collect the item the night before when she was meant to. Except her profile was not set to private, so I could see she'd actually been out drinking all night!

I just gave up on selling on Facebook altogether, but I find Gumtree exactly the same. I'm trying Shpock now as they have a feedback system so you can leave negative feedback for the timewasters.
  • Since I'm here...

    348. Another Pile of Receipts - I've also set up a designated receipt file now, so they are not just left all over the house.

I've spent the morning washing some old baby stuff to hopefully sell at the weekend. I give up doing anything else until the kids are in bed. My eldest child seems adamant not to let me get anything done today :(
  • I know what you all mean about Facebook groups etc - I tried to give away stuff on Freegle and getting people to collect at the time they'd promised was a nightmare and it was free! Finished music magpie/ziffit 'ing DVDs and CDs and packing them all up - had some rarer stuff so managed to get over £50. All the books/CDs/DVDs will now fit on one shelf of my bookcase so I can put my embroidery work in progress on a shelf with the thread boxes and have space for placemats, coasters, and our laptops when we're not using them. It will free up a kitchen drawer (in the smallest kitchen ever) and keep the sofa and chairs tidy so I'm quite pleased with myself. Hubby was initially skeptical but now is handing over things for sale willingly - so anyone having trouble with the rest of their family being on board I can highly recommend just getting on with your own stuff and letting everyone else see the progress and how happy it makes you.

  • Ive completely given up trying to sell low value items, I just give them away now. I only sell things on ebay that will fetch at least £10 after postage and fees, thats my minimum.

After decluttering my books and DVDs I now have spaces on my bookshelf!!!! It is a floor to ceiling arrangement, my plan is to have all the books in the house on it, and nowhere else - no cook books in the kitchen, no kids books in the dining room etc. Then it will be 'The Library'.

Yeah that happened to me with a potential buyer a few months ago.

I actually left all the selling groups for a while around this time last year as people were being way too cheeky with offers etc.(not to me but I was seeing it on a daily basis on other peoples' posts) and I apparently upset someone regarding something I wanted to buy off them...

I'd like to start using Shpock but I live in Cornwall and I just don't think that part of the UK is covered very well by companies like that. For instance no places come up on HungryHouse, no places come up on Justeat, We're not covered by Uber, Airbnb or anything like that. You even have to stand on top of a hill more often than not just to get a 4G signal on your phone...

We get broadband and a weekly bus service next month! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
