Managed to drop of some bags to the charity shop today, one of which has been in my car for about a month!

Other than that just used up a bit of my craft supplies to make a birthday card.
  • Thought I'd come and join in with this - we are moving our bedroom up into our new loft conversion over the next couple of weeks and I'm clearing clutter as we go.

Today I've got rid of a bag full of clothes from my wardrobe, and some of ds clothes that aren't suitable for putting in the loft 'just in case' haha. Its a start!

742-751 non recyclable bits and bobs
    752-756 bath flowers
    756-760 envelopes
    761-774 booklets
    775-916 paper and packets
    917-920 skirts
    921-924 jackets
    925 top
926-938 Out of date food items from freezer
    938-942 dresses
    943-944 skirts
    945 top
946-947 paints, my granddaughter was so pleased to have them
    948-953 bath bombs - ditto

There are other things, but too late to remember them now and not written down!

Please note, all items have previously been stored. Daily paperwork that does not get filed in paperwork cupboard is not counted.

The skirts, jackets and tops are vintage clothes (3 suits) that I have had for more years than I care to remember. My daughter is going to put them on ebay. Two I wore a lot. The other one cost me over £100, with two skirts which I never wore. The skirts are shown as sizes 12 and 14, but today they would be labelled as 8 and 10 I would imagine. I have told my daughter to put measurements on the items. I've also told her to keep any money that they make - if any.

I've been slow off the starting blocks, but although I haven't been listing everything I've decluttered I have been quietly adding them to my total in my signature. Less than half an hour of sorting out both DS's underwear drawers and a couple of random bits from my bedroom and I have another 59 items to add to my total - was tempted to add each discarded sock individually but that felt a bit like cheating so have counted them as pairs...:rotfl:! Can't believe how many of their old socks were worn through!

Just gave my room a once over, got a few more things on the sale pile, finally got a phone I'm going to sell sorted out and boxed back up(apart from charging plug which I need to find) and got rid of the case it was in as it was grubby and binned the old SIM card that was in the phone, returned a Stanley knife to the tool drawer in the kitchen(dad had been asking about that :rotfl: ) and put a few instruction manuals to products I no longer have in the recycling :o

Have spent alot of today sorting out a couple of different areas of the house.
This morning I helped 2 youngest sort out their dressing-up clothes. At their ages, they don't dress up very much, but all of a sudden,it was a very popular pastime icon_rolleyes.gif.

Dressing up outfits had been mostly hung up on their clothes rail in the built-in wardrobe. We have now thinned out the collection enough that there is room to start hanging their school uniforms up as well, instead of having them folded up in chest of drawers, getting creased 5 minutes after being ironed.

In same wardrobe there was also a canvas hanging shelf containing a couple of jumpers ,a hair dryer, and scarves belonging to eldest DD,that haven't been worn for years.I asked her to sort through it all,she has set aside alot for charity, and has taken the hanging unit to use in her wardrobe. As usual,I will count stuff when it actually leaves the house.

This afternoon I did a little bit of sorting in mine and OH's bedroom.I actually want to leave it til last to sort. Our bedroom has many plastic boxes, packed up in late 2015,in preparation when part of the house house was being knocked down and extended. For now our room is relatively tidy, but these boxes need to be sorted at some stage. At this stage I am concentrating on the public areas of the house. However,I did want to sort a little bit here this afternoon, because I felt like chucking stuff out of the house, and I knew I could neaten up one corner of our room, just by getting rid of Christmas packaging .

So,from one corner of my room,I was able to move my sewing box into the newly-decluttered Welsh dresser.,a tin of WD40 back to OH to store in his mancave, some tickets and programmes for plays that my daughter (aspiring actress)has been in, to a drawer to be filed
    I also decluttered:
    128-136:cardboard boxes,mostly from Amazon
137:a bundle of ropes,OH doesn't know where they came from,I have never seen them before-binned

In same corner there is also a recently-broken bedside table. It was in the house when we moved in 16 years ago.I keep trying to declutter it,but I really don't know what to do with the stuff in it: letter -writing sets, random birthday/other occasion cards (unused),old calendar diaries .For about 30 minutes looking through,I only decluttered
    138-139: 2 post-cards

(forgot to mention that in kids' room this morning I got rid of 2 posters,so 140-141,and in while decluttering kitchen drawers the other day,got rid of 142:bag of batteries for recycling)

I would love to find an area where I can just chuck out a whole lot of stuff.I am going through different areas, and having to spend time sorting, deciding, etc.Would love to just find a whole lot of stuff and chuck the lot,to add to the numbers.

EDIT:After posting the above,I went through another drawer of the broken bedside cabinet. Was about to throw out an old address book, then I found my dad's mobile phone number in it.He only died 14 months ago,so now I can't let go of this book that I hadn't seen for years!
I also found a couple of journals from the same time, and more letter-writing papers, thank you notelets, etc.Again, not sure what to do with these. Each packet seems to have a few pieces of pretty paper,or envelopes missing,so don't think I can donate them....
    I did,however,put out for recycling,a very thick collection of cross-word puzzles,clipped from a daily newspaper in 1999 :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:.
    So #143 out for recycling
