    Are these 'trials' just switching to v21, then you pay back £75 or £100 pounds? Bearing in mind my increase using v21 would be about £430 a year? I don't understand why you use the term 'trials'.

    Hello nick pike and, no, it's not just the Fixed 1 Year version 21 involved in our recent tariff trials. We're currently doing a full product review as we look to redesign our tariff portfolio for 2017.

    As part of this review, we're looking at various tariffs and the way we offer them to both existing and potentially new customers. Some, like version 21, are widely available through our website; whilst others are aimed at selected existing customers. These include the Fixed 1 Year Reward tariffs I spoke about earlier in this thread. Last year we also offered tariffs specifically to new customers. These were withdrawn from sale on 28 October 16.

    It's a trial because we're introducing different approaches than previously used and on a relatively short-term basis. It's all a bit experimental at the moment as we look to take lessons from the different offers. This will help us better understand the varying needs of our entire customer base. Totally understand, these products won't suit everyone but it's important to make a start. The aim is to freshen up our approach and offer tariffs more suited to a changing market.

    Hope this explains a little.

    I am an official company representative of E.ON. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. • I have been in contact today to confirm that if I switch within this period I will not be charged the two £30 exit fees as per the offgem rules. They seem have to have a different interpretation of this and say that I cannot switch until just before the contract end of 22.02.2017 to avoid these charges. Has anybody else had this problem?
  • Hopefully Malc will reply to my need for confirmation about the 49 day period. My contract ends on 22nd February 2017. My understanding is that if I were to switch within 49 days of 22.02.2017 then I would not pay the £30 exit fee on each of gas and electricity.

    Sorry Malc We really appreciate your input here but this is rather disingenuous. Customers do not really have varying needs. It is Eon and other such suppliers who have the varying needs which is maximising profit for shareholders. Customers needs or wants are fairly simple. A reasonable service for an affordable price and not to be taken for granted as longer term customers with the better offers being offered to new customers. Not vouchers, lock ins, migration fines, and constant chopping and changing.
    This is illustrated by the fact that after initial fixed periods end, we are not automatically put onto the next lowest available tariff (without lock in) . We have to ask for it! There is no reward for loyalty.

    I just switched to Iresa. One company, less hassle as you say, and my cost will be £9 more than E-Ons v19. Fixed for a year and no exit fees. Got to be one of the best deals available.

    Definitely going to switch to Iresa for Elec. Gas is exactly the same price at Better Energy but for a 2 year fix.
  • Co-op Fix For Longer February 2018 tariff - saved £270 over Eon's best fixed.
    I've been an Eon's customer for 5+ years - loyalty does not pay

    The only needs that customers need is the cheapest price. Sorry mate, but a lot of words that told me nothing. Can you tell us please what the best deal with E-ON is right now? My v19 deal ends Feb 1st. Are there lower tariffs available than v21?
    What is the best deal?

    Why Co-op? Just cross checked figures and overall Iresa is cheaper. The Co-op elec is a bit cheaper tariff, but the service charge is a lot more, and the Iresa gas is cheaper and much lower service charge.

    The two relevant Standard Licence Conditions are SLC 22 and SLC 24. SLC 22 requires the supplier to notify customers that a fixed term contract is coming to an end in the period 49 to 42 days before contract end.

    SLC 24 states:

    Termination of Fixed Term Supply Contracts
    24.8
    In relation to each Fixed Term Supply Contract, the licensee must ensure that:
    (a) a Domestic Customer is entitled to take steps to facilitate changing to any other Gas Supplier (but not complete the process of changing supplier) at any time without having to pay a Termination Fee;

    (b) unless the Domestic Customer has already entered into a new Fixed Term Supply Contract with the licensee or paragraph 22C.5 of standard condition 22C applies, a Domestic Customer is entitled to switch to any other Gas Supplier at any time during or after the Switching Window without having to pay a Termination Fee;

    If the supplier has failed to provide the statutory notice then this is a breach an exit fees cannot be charged if you switch.

  • Thank you for that information. I think that what I do is what has been suggested earlier and start the change process but delay the changeover date so that completion is not until th end of the eon contract date.
    I agree wholeheartedly re lack of appreciation etc for long standing customers and lack of clear information if you contact them.
